Yes, it's certainly been a long time, i can still remember the air felt so fresh, i could almost taste it. And how the snow crunching under my footsteps was the only sound, walking to Bear lake.

❤ thank you for this information. We are going for 1st time end of August. Was very overwhelmed looking at maps, watching traveling videos 😂 but I watched this whole video and got more instruction and info than I have from all other resources combined. There's so much to see in Colorado, we also wanted to go to Badlands, Mt Rushmore, so I'm trying to route us lol. Headed to your site for the in depth itinerary. Thank you again for helping me make the better decisions of where to go in the park.

Great video full of memories for me. First visit was in 1957. My family from Chicago had our choice of many open campsites at Glacier Basin when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. I often hiked alone, to the top of the little hill next to the campground, for a spectacular view of Longs and the Front Range, and also walked into the forest to sit next to Thompson Creek and spend an hour watching beavers build a dam. Later, in 1970, I spent an hour alone in the Bear Lake parking lot during a heavy snowfall. I can't imagine the crowds there now. It was already crowded when my childhood family last visited in 1964. Thanks for a great video. I loved remembering those long ago good times.

My family and I are coming to RMNP from South Carolina for the first time on June 19th and we have a 19 year old special needs son who loves hiking so we have to have as little variations as possible lol. Do we have to have a timed entry permit if we are entering the park at 5 or 6 am? Amd are the park passes that go on sale on May 1 st for specific dates? Just trying to keep a schedule for him to make sure the rest of the family has a great time too lol

I'm staying for several days (5-6 days) in Grand Lake in later part of July this year. Your vid has me concerned about being able to see the Bear Lake area of the park while staying in Grand Lake. Sounds like you're saying I'd need to leave Grand Lake by 500-530am to see that part of the park. Do you think I need to cancel / reduce my # of days in Grand Lake and stay in EPark for a couple of days? Also, do you have any tips for making sure we get proper timed entry permits? Park is requiring specific timed entry passes. Or does the use of the timed entry reduce # of people to the point where it's still possible to get parking in Bear Lake later in the day?
@DirtInMyShoes

@@DirtInMyShoes Frankly this thing with the extra permitting system (timed entry) and the parking lots / park being full so early has me questioning whether I should even go here at all.
