I have never, in my 58 years, seen a coach who has the mirror image of himself in a team like this guy. This dude, Rod Brind'Amour, is a DUDE. I say that with great respect for a man who, I remember as a player, never complained, who could score and defend at a high level. And as a coach he's not complaining now. A true leader.

He is a class act but not the better coach, at least in this series. Didn’t make any adjustments until they were down 3-0 in the series which is likely going to cost them.

Our lack of competitiveness in the playoffs has been actually wanting to move away from Rod. I love him so much, but we have too many players that are on the back of milk cartons every year in the playoffs. Top 2 PK and PP in the regular season shouldn’t look like this.

Canes passing out of their own end & through the neutral zone has been an unmitigated disaster through-out this series. The team needs to learn that it's sometimes best to take your foot off the gas, hang onto pucks a little longer, & stop being in such a big rush to trigger another shot that just results in another unnecssary turn-over & easy transition up ice for their opponents. They're ongoing problems with shoddy & careless puck management is resulting in way too many odd man rushes & easy transitions toward the front of the Canes net for the Rangers. The Rangers passing while they transition up ice & attention to detail have been far superior to the Hurricanes (especially on special team) & that's definitely a result of less than stellar coaching on the Canes end IMO. There are a lot of players who look adequate during the regular season & the first round of the playoffs. But once they're pitted against the elite teams they become huge liabilities. That's been the case with Brent Burns, Jordan Staal, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, & Freddie Andersen in this series. Take away the three soft third period goals that Andersen has surrendered in games (1, 2, & 4) and this is an entirely different series. Lastly, Aho is an adequate 2C but he's way too small to play 1C vs the top teams in the league (especially if Guentzel & Jarvis are on his line) in a seven game series. In this series Kuznetsov should be the 2C, Drury the 3C, & Staal the 4C. The Canes are horrendously weak up the middle due to piss poor management of their Center depth chart by Don Waddell over the last four seasons. Letting Trocheck & Morgan Geekie walk & investing $45m in KK should cost Waddell his job as it's absolute incompetence.

The Rangers have much more elite level skill on their roster. Canes have took them to 3 razor thin, OT games. The way they’ve played is the way they’ve had to. Can’t blame Rod for them not having a strong, reliable goalie. Canes have played excellent considering those things. You’d have to intellectually dishonest to pretend to not know what Rod meant last year about not really being swept. Canes just need a goalie.
@marks604121 күн бұрын
@@chevelle1 RBA has way too much influence over the Canes roster & is it turns out he's not a particularly effective coach either. Way too stubborn & inflexible & way too reliant on mediocre or aging players like Kotkaniemi, Staal, Burns, & Andersen. He has not one to blame but himself.
