If you don't think it's cultural marxism, I suggest you watch the series on the New Discourses channel by James Lindsay. Watch a few of those then decide. People who really see what's happening in education can see the indoctrination of cultural marxism being taught to children, breaking the structure of society apart, starting with individuals, their relationships and their families. The focus on individualism is creating a generation who can't relate to anyone, they can't even relate and connect to themselves. It's creating a generation of lost and broken people who will welcome a strong paternalistic authority to tell them what to do. This is a long game. Wake up Granddad liddle. Get with the programme. Wake up to what's been happening for a while. This is a long game. Society/culture is being sleepwalked into totalitarianism. Times have changed.
@pixtilla
@pixtilla Жыл бұрын
It's not Marxism. Whether one adheres to Marx's ideas is beside the point; the fact remains that Marxism is based on historic materialism, a spectre of analysis which focuses on the distribution of wealth in a given society, between those who produce it and those (whoever they may be) who get to manage that wealth. Marxism is universalistic-it's largely inspired by early French Socialism, which was philanthropic and egalitarian, definitely inherited from Enlightenment ideals. What you call 'cultural Marxism' is based on Post-Modern philosophy-derived from a somewhat random collection of mostly French thinkers from the 1960-70s which had basically been kicked out of the very Marxist-friendly French academia of the time; Postmodernism is a direct reaction to, and against, Marxism itself. You may despise both currents all you want but conflating them is gross intellectual dishonesty.

@@pixtilla It is a worrying trend that people who will be old enough to vote soon believe in marxist ideology don't you think? Thankfully they're in the minority at the moment, as are the people who buy into gender ideology beliefs too. But they have already taken over universities and it's becoming stuff replicating. It's a long game. Young people are so ageist, they see previous generations as dinosaurs who will one day become extinct.
@pixtilla
@pixtilla Жыл бұрын
@@ellie698 It's not entirely false-we all are bound to become extinct at some point, are we not. Philosophically speaking, and because I trained as a historian, I'd say Marxism as an economic analysis rather stands the test of time. The writings of Karl Marx don't need to be taken literally and transposed, unchanged, to our current situation because a middle-class German from the nineteenth century could hardly predict, say, the rise of self-employment, or the advent of certain new technologies, for instance. That doesn't mean that his sound reflexions on the society of his time are devoid of pertinence nowadays-just like Sigmund Freud left us with much to think about, regardless of our agreeing with his drug-addled ramblings or not. Conservative types nowadays seem eager to hyper-correct their political incorrectness to a point when they abandon reason just as intensely as the Woke set, if slightly less frequently so.

We need a discussion about how the PURVEYORS, or FACILITATORS of Woke messages (BBC, newspapers, university administrations, school administrations, town councils, etc.) can be forced to convey and accommodate diverse opinions on key topics rather than just playing safe and representing and supporting ultra-liberal "woke" views. Some ideas: de-fund the BBC, stop buying newspapers which do not present diverse views, defund schools and universities which do not allow for different opinions to be heard.

That said, I think Keir Starmer is very aware of it, and knows it’s a tendency that must be catered for if Labour is to win back the old industrial working class in the Red Wall.

I'd argue that it is an identity-based (as opposed to class-based) marxism, certainly moreso than a Friedman-esque individualism. If a form of individualism is involved, it is the new age Oprah type individualism that treats truth as relative. I wouldn't say this individualism underpins much but it perhaps unwittingly helped smuggle the insane merging of marxist thinking and post-modern 'thinking' to the mainstream.
@DevolComitatus

Spot on! I'm glad someone else has picked up on this. Rod gets in a muddle conflating classical with cultural Marxism and demarcating the latter away from Wokism, when they are one and the same. Cultural Marxism exchanges one type of proletariat (workers, trade unionists) for a menagerie of surrogate proletariats of marginalised sexual and ethnic minorities. It's not individualist in any Friedman-esque sense, rather Freudian-esque. It aims at cultural revolution not economic revolution with the end goal of bringing down capitalism.

A very arm's length analysis. Completely misses the main thrust of what we are dealing with which is the widespread adoption and societal indoctrination of Critical Theory (which is directly from the Frankfurt School and a product of Marxist analysis). Critical Theory rejects objectivity and pretty much all the values of Classical Liberalism and crucially empiricism. This is where the whole 'lived experience' and 'my truth' comes in. For a better analysis of what wokism is I would recommend people read or listen to James Lindsay.

Rod misses the point. What distinguishes woke ideology and practices from previous manifestations of mutated Marxism, is the common element of a therapeutic, and subjective understanding of personhood as opposed to the previous shared moral perspective that was inherited from Christianity. Frank Furedi's (2004) book Cultural Therapy, was way ahead of the curve in understanding this process of intellectual and ethical decay in western culture, which of course has been accelerating since Furedi published his book.

If you watch his speech on New Culture Forum, you'll find he doesn't have much wrong with single mothers. Rather he says in it that it's simply a case of "where we are now" and although probably good for the couple to split, it still has consequences on kids and society. I know a few friends who come from broken families. Some fared well better than others. Some suffered mental illnesses and will never recover. Some turned to crime. The rest turned out fine. It all depends on the child, but it's pretty common sense to say that the break up of a family will have some bad effects on kids. I believe that is where Rod is coming from.

@@Fredmayve only facts matter to history and complete information..what side you are on is irrelevant. Would you not be fully on russias side if you only watched their tv? That would also be wrong

The corporate exploitation of women is the main issue... to think positive Decent human life is based on men as breadwinners , and women as homemakers , in single-income households Every man should have a high-paying job , and every woman should be provided for by a man with a high-paying job Women have babies... Men provide for them... That was God's Plan for the human race And we came close to achieving that dream in the Sixties Men find completion as breadwinners... Women find completion as homemakers One income should sustain a family That's the object... Let's go for it ! If women have equality in the workforce , they forfeit their husbands' pensions... That's elementary And a husband and wife cannot both have govt jobs... That's a privileged class Not equality We don't want women in the workforce , so stop promoting them Stop lowering standards to achieve "women's equality" Instead of subsidised daycare , subsidise the homemaking role Instead of helping women swing both home and career , help couples manage on one income Instead of extending benefits to gay couples , cut them off to working couples Make benefits conditional on a dedicated homemaker... Homemaking is at least a part-time job... So a woman cannot have a full-time job and receive benefits... Large numbers of women would then relinquish full-time work and opt for part-time With a homemaker allowance , we could restructure the family , the workforce , the economy and society , putting them all on a sustainable footing Think positive... Be practical... And stop the pointless griping Happy Christmas , from your old Uncle Clive

There is a quick repudiation of the argument that wokery comes about as a result of people becoming less religious. Just invert it and say that the new "religion" of wokery comes about because society is saturated with religion and history proves that a pious population always generates new dogmas.

Rod might consider his stance. His leaning and spluttering into the camera on his every appearance does nothing for his telegenic charisma. Lol Rod.

The only time I hear about wokery is when Rod Liddle or other gobs talk about it. It's almost like the need it to stay employed.
