Filming in public is a nightmare! In this film Rod takes to the streets of London and experiences council workers interference and Britain's surveillance society.
Interviewees include civil liberties journalist and author Heather Brooke and Charles Farrier from campaign group No CCTV. But where's Osama?

@pat dunne So, pointing out there is a problem with gangs of adult men raping children, makes you the same as a rapist or a paedophile ? "Pat Dunne 2019".... Its rare you see a small angry confused man in the wild, but there, ladies and gentlemen, goes one. Apparently not appearing racist is more important than child rape.

@pat dunne I've just read this again.. Apparently (for just pointing out easily verifiable actual facts, I'm a racist, and islamaphobe and a homophobe ? - inreesting eh ? presumably homophobe came from the same place you pull all your 'arguments' from - as far as I know, they were adult men raping female children. I guess if we're just throwing around baseless insults you'll be happy to be referred to as "pat dunne, the paedophile apologist" - I mean, we aim to be fair dont we ? Remember, folks. Pat Dunne is a 'paedophile apologist'. Using your rules, I think thats fair.

You're allowed to photograph ANYTHING you can see from a public space (provided you don't break indecency laws). That includes airports, army bases, police stations, houses, shops, banks, offices, schools, whatever. Permission isn't needed. You also don't need to provide id unless you're being arrested and charged with a named offence. You can't change the law to suit your personal preference. If you don't want someone looking through your window for some strange reason then stick up some curtains pal.
@reb0118

That is generally correct. However there are certain locations that have specifically laws against unauthorised photography so one does not have absolute permission to film everywhere from a public place.

Once flew a microlight along the Humber Estuary around Immingham in 2008/2009, and shocked to witness a ship anchored at a jetty pumping black pollution into the Humber, took a photograph, and on landing, reported it to the Environmental Authorities. This was during the Blair era, and the cabinet people on security and defence were inventing laws as fast as they could think them up. Later received a severe ticking off from a man in charge at the docks, apparently John Reid or colleague in Blair's team made photographing ports and strategic sites illegal. When I raised this on a flying website to warn others, an Instructor mailed to reveal that the UK Civil Aviation Authority require all marine pollution incidents be reported to local Air Traffic and if possible, photographs taken as evidence...

My local council tried to give me an FPN for dog fouling caught on CCTV, turned out it wasn't my dog, CCTV proved it but they insisted, finally I won against them then found out they were issuing FPNs to other dog owners for their fouling when they didn't see their dogs do it, they were following people walking their dogs to see if their dogs did foul to simply hand out FPN as a form of revenue generation, litter is the same, they find a man for feeding Bread to a horse on 'private land'.. They take advantage of the citizen not knowing the law or their guidelines.

It's quite simple. Everytime you are approached and questioned about CCTV cameras, simply ask them (as you are entitled) for the CCTV footage. This costs them time and money, and they will soon leave you alone.

Atlas Shrugged yes well this position being filled by a non British National,is probably in order to match some target or other,such as having certain percentage of employees being From a certain background to show there is no discrimination.But if say ten vacancies out of hundred are unfilled and the 90 vacancies have been filled by British Nationals, but they need 10percent to be of non British Nationals the applicants left are 30 peaple who ten of which are non British,(but not as qualified) you can guarantee that the under qualified 10 non British will get the position just to match policy!!!Now I'm not saying discriminate against non British but surely this" positive discrimination" is discrimination and the qualified applicants who don't fit the "criteria"will not feel positive about this policy at all.The policies become self serving for politically motivated arguments regarding the need for immigrants to prop up our industries.This could end up being a self prophetic situation.Crazy,then we're told we live in a meritocracy!!Personally I don't blame immigrants they are just trying to better their lives.But the effects of these policies create tensions,housing is another example and.i bet the same methods are used.Im not saying my percentages etc are correct but you can get my meaning.I wonder what the actual reasons behind policies are. I'm sure if researched properly you could find real reasons for policies. Especially if looked at over a wide variety of areas such as impact regarding voting results and if they effect other polices.Got to look at bigger picture to find possibilities and truth.

Maybe dna test everybody in the uk and unless you have at least 70% British family roots then you will have foreigner tattooed to your forehead and placed in a detention facility so you can be deported from the uk. Then force British ppl to train to be doctors and nurses to fill empty spaces where there aren’t enough British ppl to fill these spaces. If you are only 69% British then you will be deported. Tourists need temp tattoos saying they are tourists so they won’t get deported. Gotta keep the British reich alive. Lol.

I believe in the careful control of the UK borders and in only allowing those into the UK that are here to work and pay taxes BUT it's important to keep xenophobia and racism out of the argument, otherwise the liberal left-wingers will ALWAYS win the argument.

@ProfessorSakharov
@ProfessorSakharov 7 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that these people have 'power'? They are all public servants, from the gardener in the local park right up to the latest tenant of Downing Street. The power all resides in the public. We hire these people to do what they are supposed to be doing, not to harass law-abiding members of the public going about their lawful business. It is all very well being civil and calling them 'sir' and such, but it is really the wrong way to deal with such wombles. As members of the public we require them to do the jobs we pay them to do and NO MORE. As soon as they step outside the remit we have given them, and that we pay them for, they cease to be public servants and become public nuisances. Next time one of these idiots approaches you for filming in a public place, no doubt claiming that it is the property of some council, they need to be told, in no uncertain terms, that councils own NOTHING. The central government owns NOTHING. Anything they think they own is public property. It is paid for from public funds, it is maintained from public funds, it is public property. There are NO laws in the UK that prevent photography, still or moving images, in any public place. It is a lawful activity and everyone has the right to partake of it. There are NO powers in the UK to prevent photography in any public place, and anything in or visible from any public place is fair game. If they don't want you to film their building the solution is very simple - get it out of public view. I suggest Groom Lake, Area 51 in the Nevada desert in the USA - that isn't visible from any public place (except Google Earth) and will serve their purpose. Not sure what the US government will say about that, but that isn't our problem, it is theirs. .

I film out on the streets of London a lot. I was going out to film today but the weather is being an arse! I very rarely get stopped by the police or anybody else for that matter. But if the police do question me ( and I'm not trespassing ) I tell them why I'm filming and also tell them all they have to do is ask me, and I will tell them anything else they want to know about me. Every time I have said this ( including outside Downing St ) they go away and leave me alone. If its a security guard I tell them to go away and mind their own business. That works too.

The trouble is these council workers are not very bright. Small minded people clutching at every little bit of power given to them. The majority of law enforcement and “security” personnel are not very well trained or able to grasp the complexities of the law. They do not think about the purpose of their job or understand what their job entails and what they can and cannot do. Most newly recruited police constables have a degree these days yet they know less about the law than ever and have less common sense than ever.

Nemosis All this proves that the terrorists have won, the whole damn country is paranoid. These useless self-important jobsworths are drunk on the little piece of power that they think they have got.

I met Osama Bin Lid and told him religion would screw with your mind and drive you mad. The look on his face was incredible. That's his nickname forever more .. Bin Lid.

There is no law against filming in the UK in a public space. If you are filming in public then there is "implied consent." In other words, politely tell the jobsworths to duck off.

Next time get planning permission for the tripod, get permission from the council to film on public property and don’t film any council buildings or cctv cameras because you get accused of being a terrorist. Lol. It’s just crazy how far ppl are going.

PERMITS Councils love permits. You have to have permission for this ,that and the other. I own a small shop in Kettering . Three or four years ago I had to undertake some repairs to the shop's wooden floor because of dry rot. As work started, an official said I needed a permit to unload a van across the pavement, why? because you do. but there is no one near, you must have a permit, its £85 from the council, WHAT, ring the council or get it online, look, I just want to unload the van to do some repairs. You will need a permit. I rang the council and was told it's £95. I looked on line , it said £85, I asked how this could be, no one knew. I sent £85 and asked what did I get for this money and how long would it take. You will get a piece of paper and it could take up to two weeks! I unloaded the van that same day and never received the permit. Wonderful isn't it ! I now fight them over everything.
