$$$ Follow the money $$$ ..This climate "fear mongering" has little to do with the environment (notice they don't even protest/mention China. The worlds BIGGEST POLLUTER) ..This climate fear mongering has everything to do with pushing for a worldwide UN CARBON TAX, that will make TRILLION$$$$ for those who designed/invested in the carbon tax/credit scheme. (This Tax has already been imposed in Canada.)

@@revol148 Of course, when the 1980s prediction that an ice age was only being held off by dint of the pollution humans caused didn't pan out, the loonies had to change tack. Seems they over-egged it a bit - back then they were whining about how the world was going to freeze up, then barely pausing for breath they swing wildly to the other extreme and panic about how the Earth will end in fire twelve years hence. So in twelve years, when nothing much has changed, we can expect the screaming ab-dabs about snowball Earth and how the human race will never survive it unless we act now! Oh, and they'll want our money then, too. Well, the human race managed to survive the last ice age with nothing like the technologies we have now. Shouldn't be a problem, huh? Just throw another lefty on the fire and toast your crumpets. .
@revol148
@revol148 4 жыл бұрын
@@profsakharov1191 To be honest I wasn't aware of the impending ice-age talked of in the 1980's other than the belief that the Jet stream from the Gulf of Mexico which currently keeps north western Europe a lot warmer than it is to slow down which will cause harsher winters.This in any case won't be so much of an issue with ongoing climate change.It's not a case of the world ending in 12 years but you would agree the summers are getting more extreme in Australia, India and west Africa and the winters are certainly getting milder and damper in western Europe.There should be no talk of the human race "acting now" as there is no desire to, the human race is not intelligent enough to understand the consequences of its lifestyle and not only by people who think the whole concept of climate change is the work of the Chinese government to slow USA industrial output. Besides the capitalist system is based on growth and consumption at all costs regardless of the consequences - sustainability is completely anathema to that.If you don't think we are doomed then I congratulate you on your positivity.

Thatcher was an old cow, did she really help working class families? I remember the miners getting near clubbed to death by the riot police! Even through history, elites had no problems with the command "open fire "on civvies, but now the protesters are upper class and coloured, gay or all of these groups! Scargill went back to his 1 million pound mansion while miners relied on family and friends, so they could eat and stay warm at Xmas, as I understand it, their demands were met but Scargill went for more and his greed led to miners astray and ultimately failure.

As with the hippies in the 1960s, climate change protests are largely about socializing with like-minded young liberals, discomfiting the establishment, and decrying capitalism while enjoying its benefits. Protest is easy. Solutions to environmental issues take a capacity for nuance thought and analysis. Environmental issues are real and worth pondering. But protests accomplish nothing useful. Criticism without a constructive solution is mere venting, a socially acceptable way of throwing a tantrum. The object here is not to effect change, but to claim attention as a validation of their personal worth. Like the majority of academicians, most protestors are misfits who can't make it in the real world and hate the fact that their lives have so little significance.

I live in Miami...the seas are rising here. King tides and hurricanes are becoming worse and worse. Climate gentrification is effecting poorer communities and is forcing them to move to lower lying elevations. Voting, petitions, conventional campaigning wont save us. Thank you Extinction Rebellion for addressing the real issues and real solutions: we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction with 200 species going extinct everyday, humans are not immune to the effects of this mass extinction. People are dying now. The Bahamas have been completely obliterated. Miami is extremely lucky. We were nearly wiped off the map as well. We need a wartime mobilization to IMMEDIATELY reduce ghg emissions by 2025. We need a more participatory democracy and have ordinary people deliberate over the path forward on this crisis by implementing a Citizen's Assembly on the climate and ecological crisis. Proud to be a rebel. Much love❤ Extinction Rebellion gives me hope...

First woman interviewed..'as individuals we can't change the way plastic is used, we can't change the way money is invested' . Yes you can. It's called consumer choice. Don't like plastic? Then don't buy products with plastic. Don't like the way a company is investing? Don't buy any of their products. That is the most powerful way an individual can affect the market. However if no-one else agrees with you enough to make similar choices then you have to admit that your opinion defers from the vast majority and should respect that not protest about it.

Where do you park your bicycles. I'm sure you are all living as a good example, giving up your cars, no TVs, organic farming, no mobile phones or computers. With a wonderful carbon footprint, eating organic foods. Well done to you all, must have taken those without bicycles quite some time to walk to London from all the different places in Britain.

Prior to being arrested yesterday, George Mobiot wrote in The Guardian: "I cannot help who I am. I accept that the costs of arrest for people like me - a white, middle-class man with an established career - are lower than for other people. But this means I have a moral duty to use my privilege."

I am impressed! As there were no truthful reports about civil war of (former?) Ukraine I kind of rejected these news channels the same level as BBC but it seems it can still deliver truthful and good information. Congratulations! Great journalist as well, stay truthful and stay away from corruption and lies, make us proud of British journalists ;-) Well done

attacking probably the most environmentally friendly types of transport together with attacking communtors in London, who normally kill for stand on the left of the esculator, is the most stupid things i have ever seen. THIS WAS A PR STUNT and it worked as it is all over the news and they are portraying themselves as victims.Think this group is wholly unrespresentative, hard to see an ethic minority face in the crowd, middle class professional actavists some of them, these are the class which consume the most and want 100 types of cheese, hundred of different wines, salad in Dec etc. Plus attacking wrong targets. Why are they not complaining about smart phones and the internet, i looked into the power costs and infrasture for the WWW and it is astronomical, manufacture of devices etc and the share amount of energy needed to run the back office technical infrastructure is huge, not to mention all the comms satellites etc launched to communicate.
@imluvinyourmum
@imluvinyourmum 4 жыл бұрын
Most of that infrastructure is here in the US as well. They criticise China yet China made the products for them... Any agreement the USA signed up to would have to fairly take into account the country’s contribution to the world through products and services provided.

I do look forward to Rod Liddle's musings.... I was surprised to see the protestors sporting fabrics clearly made by the apparently damaging and high mileage industrial processes of the textile world- I was expecting them all to be garbed in hemp, wearing bullrush sandals..... rather more petrochemical industry products on view than expected I'm afraid, for me to take these woke middle-class impressionables seriously... I did like the bicycle though- a bit of adaptation and you'd have a lovely steampunk vehicle running on Earth's own long term renewables- coal. :)
@avalyn4376
@avalyn4376 4 жыл бұрын
Why were you expecting that? Do you think everyone who believes what the scientists say about global warming and wants to do something about it should be wearing hemp and sandals? Is that what you wear?

@@avalyn4376 I'd expect them (and you?) to practice what they preach- even if working from an incorrect premise by confusing climate change with good planet husbandry. In the meantime,China is planning to build 1,1171 more coal-fired power-stations to add to its existing 2,363. Not to be outdone, India a;so has plans for 446 more coal-fired power stations to add to its existing 589. Several other countries are doing likewise. They will require all this extra power for industries which will be be deserting the West and relocating in Asia.
