We've videod one of our infamous 'Underside Restorations' to show some of the key stages in this 50+ labour-hour project.
Roger's E46 M3 had the common cracks and spot welds popped on his E46 M3 Subframe Panel.
Roger had also just won 2nd place in the M3cutters' Xmas prize raffle and opted to spend his 2nd place price with Redish Motorsport.
The E46 M3 obviously required our Redish Motorsport E46 Rear Subframe Repair & Reinforcement Process as a bare minimum - redish-motorspo...
Then, after Roger made the 160 mile round trip from South Wales to go over plans and meet James and Luke at Redish Motorsport, he was 'blown away' (his words not ours) with the Underside Restoration work we have carried out in the past.
After seeing our working procedure, workshop, the team, and past projects, Roger was hooked and he upgraded to the Redish Motorsport Underside Restoration.
Just a brief list of items replaced or refurbished during the process:
Redish Motorsport E46 Rear Subframe Reinforcement Plate Kit
Full underbody degrease with POR-15 Marine Clean & APC
Addressing of surface corrosion areas
High build etch priming of floor areas
Wurth sprayable seam sealer of floor areas
Underbody & arches painted in Pheonix Yellow (445) body colour paint
Metal brake pipe repairs
Fuel tank & lines & pipes degreased and silicon protected
Fuel tank straps powdercoated
Diff carrier & ARB & RTAB cradles powdercoated in Matt Black
Trailing arms & upper spring arms powdercoated in Chrome Silver
Eibach lower camber arms
V-brace powdercoated in Chrome Silver
Various other small brackets powdercoated in either Matt Black or Chrome Silver
OEM rear silencer & centre pipe hand/machine polished then hand waxed
Plastics degreased & de-waxed, treated with a silicon sealer
Metal heatshields for prop & exhaust scrubbed & painted VHT silver
New rear ARB drop links
Bilstein PSS10 (B16) Coilover kit
Rogue Engineering Rear Top Mounts
Diff rear cover painted in VHT silver
Diff body painted in POR-15 Rust Preventative Black
Goodridge Braided Brake line kit
Drive shafts cleaned & rubbers treated
OEM BMW diff/subframe bushes
OEM BMW diff front bush
Powerflex rear trailing arm bushes
OEM BMW anti roll bar bushes
OEM BMW trailing arm ball joints x4
OEM BMW upper spring arm inner bushes
Wiring for ABS, Pad, Xenon cleaned & protected
Fuel supply & return pipes protected/painted with POR-15 Black
EVERY SINGLE nut, bolt, washer, clip, screw, fixings & fastener NEW from BMW
There probably was more but this is just a quick run down of the spec.

I have gone through my share of general automotive, help, install, etc. videos on you tube and I have worked in a few shops over the years. It is rare not only to find shops that take the time and care into the work they are doing but to find a thorough video of it being done. I know sometimes it depends on how much a customer is willing to spend but if they know they are getting quality work like this done, I would imagine that is an easier sale. Keep up the great work guys!

No problem beautiful car! I have an 01 325xi awd dark grey metallic and black interior car looks like brand new.It's a sport package car really nice harmon kardon xenons all the goodies from factory. Im going to lower it 1''1/4 after the winter. But your car is beautiful if something ever happens to my e46 i'll get a m3 but i love my car cant part with it yet! a need for every car...sure everything outside is nice but underneath none knows...please show us an e36 restortion as well...as far as quality of craftsmanship is concerned bmw is the king...but this doesnt mean it doesnt need care...Nice work there Redish!!!!!

Watched lots of your videos, don't know what for, it often looks similar, but it's a kind of magic again and again 😄 Could you please capture one about analysis of the cracks without complete disassembly? For those who are looking for M3 e46 and need to check the car before purchase? It's possible to go to service station, of course, but without long and expensive manipulations. Kind of short tutorial - what to do, where and how to look. Maybe with examples from your collection of videos, most frequent areas of cracks, level of criticity. Thanks much in advance! Absolutely incredible work, I just bought an E46 M3, this would be the first thing I would want to do before modifying it. Do you have any knowledge of anyone doing this kind of quality work in North America ? Just a few more questions: What was the mileage on the M3 in this video ? And, what is the cost in Canadian dollars ?

You guys have done a great job! I do have a question: I noticed that on another one of you other videos you posted where you repaired sub-frame cracks, you waxoiled the metal work which you had stripped back, to obviously prevent corrosion. On this underside restoration, this didn't appear to have been performed. Was there another method you used to provide that protection?

I would love to have this done to my M.. To bad Redish is an ocean away. I'd be willing to spend about 5 to 7 thousand on this. I'm sure the price is somewhere in the ball park.

Shitty ass BMWs, yeah they handle great, but the fucking entire car is cracking like crazy, thats insane....I would expect it from a KIA, but not a BMW, not for what they charge.

Do you know where redish is based? The weather up there is shit. That car was around for 10 + years on snow and salt. It's obvious that the protective coating is going to flake in some high stress areas. Nothing a little polish and reaping can't help. That goes for all cars.

+Zee H road salt is used far too much all over the uk in winter months. its sick. even into May and June you can still see the white from the salt on the grass next to the road

+g4rr377 Yeah you're right but that by no means is the cause of nor a factor the cracks. It's a design flaw and poor execution of development! To much torque for the subframe to handle, simple. I challenge anyone to point out a sports car costing around 50k that has such a major flaw like this, you won't find one.

***** they don't even have huge torque figures, and they had the same fault on the e36. they still fix them under warranty good will. either way it was a major design problem

I contact you shop from Spain Madrid exactly 3 phone call 3 e-mail. At that time my car was I'm Southampton. I would have love to redo the car as I wish to fully refurbished it. And don't wanna start any other work without knowing and doing the work that is required to be able to refurbished the interior. And full new body paint..... but now I'm in Romania and will not be near the UK. Till spring.i will send you another email. As I don't wanna post my personal mail here. Thanks
