4/23/2021 - My new favorite workout on the Echo Bike is doing a set of 10 alternating bicep dumbbell curls (35 lbs) + 15 seconds all out on the bike x 3. I usually hit around 800 watts near the end. My rest is about 20 seconds. I do this type of workout 3 times a week on arm days. On days I am working my chest, my hard interval workout is dumbbell snatches followed by box jumps on the Abmat Roobox. Killer workout too. So far I have had Zero issues. I did replace the batteries, which was super easy. The Echo Bike is a beast.

I haven't seen them on sale. That said people do sell them from time to time. Right now you can't usually pick them up for less, but once this COVID thing is over, you might be able to. Hey there great video, I'm between one of these or a magnetic stationary bike. I know there's some noise to this bike, how loud do you think it would be in a living room setting? What do you think of the resistance on the echo? Is it always tough because it's heavy steel blades or is it neutral to start with the ability to increase resistance? How do you increase resistance, just the arrows on the screen? What tightens up inside the blades to create that resistance?
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 3 жыл бұрын
The echo bike is loud. It is more designed for a gym or garage rather than an indoor bike trainer. The resistance is based on fan speed, so the faster you go the harder it becomes. The blades are fixed, so you don't have to adjust anything. The bike uses a belt drive.
@lucaslapierre7347

@@GearMashers Would you say it's as loud as a vacuum being used? I've seen some videos in indoor home settings and it doesn't seem to be too overly noisy.

As a big cyclist, would you suggest getting this if you already have a bike with an indoor trainer? Great review Edit: you’ve basically answered this in the other comments lol
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ian. :-). If you are a big cyclist definitely get an additional indoor trainer to use outside, a set of rollers, 3 other bikes that you will only ride once and a while, plus get a Peloton and then the Rogue Echo. I think then you would be set, well until the latest bike components are out by Shimano or SRAM, then you might have to get a new bike. Seriously though. I think the value of the Echo will be to give you a stronger upper body, which should help you when you're out of the saddle on climbs or sprints. The other value will be to change things up in your cycling routine. From my perspective, I don't usually ride the Echo that long, it's more of a short burst workout for me. I have the Wahoo KICKR Bike and ride that way more than use the Echo for working out.

How loud are the wind blades when you get going? Would the Echo be to loud in an apartment? I live in a pretty well insulated condo and never hear my neighbours but when you started working that machine it sounded pretty loud. Not sure if it would be suitable for a multi residential unit and wanted some feedback.
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brin. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the Echo in an apartment setting. It is really loud when pushing the watts. Maybe if you were on the first floor, but even then it is pretty loud. It is much louder than my bike trainers and louder than the concept 2 rowing machine.

@GearMashers
@GearMashers 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Quantum. I actually have 3 trainers if you can believe that. I am testing out the Wahoo KickR Bike, a Tax Neo and an Elite trainer. I have a few reviews up on the website. The Echo bike is one of those pieces of equipment that kicks your butt. Because you are working both arms and legs, you can get your HR up much faster. When you combine it with rowing and maybe jump rope it's such a killer upper body workout. With an indoor trainer you really are just working your legs. When I go run now and it starts to hurt because of the pace I am going, I think of the Echo bike and it makes the run easier. I think it makes you mentally tougher in whatever sport you do. gearmashers.com/wahoo-fitness-kickr-bike-review/ gearmashers.com/elite-drivo-ii-smart-trainer-review/ gearmashers.com/wahoo-kickr-climb-review/

@@GearMashers Sweet. I also wanted it for the upper body workout. I tried the Concept rower but found it hard to follow the technique and get a good workout, so looking for supplementary equipment. @@quantumdecoherence1289 I have the Concept 2 Model D. I used to row in college. We had the Concept 2 Model A's back in the day. The Concept 2 is pretty awesome as well. It is a different workout for sure. I tend to use both together when working out. I find I don't need to spend as much time on the Echo because it is just that tough.

Is this a bike that can be used for 30 minutes straight at a steady pace? I like the total body workout aspect and I am trying to decide between this or a peloton.
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use the Echo for a 30 minute ride. I would opt for the Concept 2 bike, the Peloton or something like the Wahoo KICKR Bike. The problem with the Echo is it is really loud when pushing the watts, so it would be hard to hear a TV. I use it strictly for short bursts and use my KICKR Bike for longer rides. If you are looking for 30 minute or longer rides get the Peloton or the KICKR Bike.
@marcellocapone4925
@marcellocapone4925 4 жыл бұрын
55? I was genuinely thinking early 30s. Great genetics, mate. Have you ever tried doing LISS with the Echo? I've got a regular exercise bike and ride it 30 min 6x a week but I'm looking for something that gives me a full body workout - since home grade elliptical machines seem to be a waste of money (not reliable at all from what I've read); assault bikes seem perfect, but most people tend to do HIIT with them and not steady state and I'm wondering why. Cheers!
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have a really high sweat rate and have been working out since I was young, so that helps. I suppose having a wife that is much younger also helps keep me young. :-) I think there are probably a few reasons why people don't tend to ride the Rogue Echo for very long. 1. Since you are using both your upper body and lower body, your heart rate climbs faster, making it feel more uncomfortable over extended time periods. 2. I don't find the Echo as comfortable as say a normal indoor bike. Again since you are using both upper and lower body, it's harder to zone out because more muscles are involved. 3. It's loud compared to the trainers I have. Those steel blades turning put out a lot of wind making it much more noisy than a magnetic trainer or belt driven trainer. That means it is harder to watch TV and hear what is actually being played.

I was wondering about the spinning feet pegs in the front. Why are they flexibel? What is the benefit? Is it possible to fix them? What are your thoughts on that. Honestly i see the danger to slip off if you are working out, you are exhausted as hell and want to put your feet on them. Any bad experience with the spinning pegs?
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 3 жыл бұрын
Monolo. Not sure what you mean by flexible. They aren't flexible, but they do spin. As far as the reason why Rogue designed them to spin, I am not sure. I think they could have been stationary. I haven't found a benefit. I haven't had any issues with my feet slipping off. I just haven't found any benefit for them spinning.

How does the resistance compare to a smaller fan like the Schwinn AD2? Do you know if you can still do high intensity interval training with a smaller fan? Thank you.
@GearMashers
@GearMashers 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brandon, I haven't tried the AD2. My guess is based on trainers I have ridden, the bigger the flywheel or the heavier it is, the more resistance it will have. The Rogue Echo has really big heavy fan blades that are made of steel. In General, it takes more watts to move them because they are heavier and churn more wind. Buy once, cry once. I highly recommend the Echo over less expensive assault bikes.

Hey Rob, I wouldn't use the bike that way, since you really don't have handles to hold on to. I would buy a stationary bike that would be more comfortable. The Echo is really designed so that you WILL use the handles, but since they move, I would not advise using the bike.
