Thanks for the video. Looking to purchasing this and curious how badly the print fades after washing. If you bought this shirt in a store and washed it, would you be disappointed in how it fades during the wash or just as happy when you first purchased it?

Hi Marcin, thanks for watching. I tested out a colorful print in the wash and after about 6 washes there was the faint beginning of a fade. If you turn the garment inside out its supposed to help with the fade issue. Please note I'm not an expert and opinions will vary. I can tell you we are very pleased with the purchased. It is very user friendly for students to use and easy to maintain. Roland puts out some very nice machines. Please consider watching other videos I'll be putting up on further input/output machines.

Great video, I've been thinking about buying one of these for a side business as I'm a graphic designer and love making my own T-shirts...from what you said should I totally avoid this printer as I only want to print on Gildan soft style Black T-shirts or is it only certain fabrics? I want to use PNG images with gradient edges.

Hi James! Thanks for the question. You would not be able to print on black garments with this machine. Roland does sell vinyl printer/cutters that can do vinyl transfers. If you watch "ROLAND VG2 540 VINYL PRINTER_CUTTER" on KZfaq kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6yZeKWZm9eYl4E.html you'll get an idea of what it can do. The sample in the video is not a transfer but it's the same process.

Hi, great video. Thinking of buying one. When you show you can make the print size smaller can you move the print area to the pocket part?

Hi Michael, Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. We've done pocket areas before. Best thing to do is locate the area and square off the shirt with painter's tape. When putting the shirt in the cartridge, center the taped off area within the target center of the cartridge, remove the tape before you press the shirt. Let me know if that's not a clear explanation and I'll create a video for the pocket area.

My only advice to you is to buy a friction pen to align and mark the size guide onto your shirt. I use the Ricoh ri100 essentially the twin bro of the BT12.

I am currently researching DTG printers, we mainly print on white tee's, but sometimes red and navy using HTV at the moment. There is a huge cost jump in white printing DTG and also the requirement for pre-treatment. What's the darkest t-shirt you have printed on as the results look good on that grey tee in the video.

Hi Jon, Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Our high school FBLA team printed black on a blue t-shirt. Doesn't look bad but would pop more on a white T-shirt as would any print. Please see the Twitter page for a pic. twitter.com/FabGrafton/status/1205572124586528775 There is not a white cartridge for the BT-12. We picked up a Roland 540 if you'd like to view another video on the channel. We plan to use the Roland 540 to print decals and heat press them to shirts. Obviously white is the media so no cost when it comes to ink. Hope this helped! Good Luck!

I’m wanting a faded soft look to print on tshirts, I know you discourage black T-shirt’s however for the lookin wanting would this we\ork??

Hi Corina, sorry for the extreme delay in my reply. Unfortunately even trying to print a color such as yellow, or light gray would still not show up on a black t-shirt with the BT12 garment printer.

The students in my class still love these printers! We have two of them, easy to maintain and ink consumption per unit is low. Still great equipment! Thanks for watching!

Can you print on hoodies and sweatshirts

Hi Hayward, thanks for watching. Hoodies and sweatshirts can be done just as easy as a shirt. You will be able to choose the sweatshirt option in the software. The machine will also automatically let you know to lower the cartridge to recognize the thicker material.
