I have some issue with the first 8 sounds of each Bank with my old Jx3P, and i m considering buying the JX 02 instead of repairing the 3P, + buying a DT200 (PG200 clone)...but it sounds thiner to me in youtube...i am mistaking?

It all depends on your musical needs. Each keyboard/synth has a specific purpose. Find the one that works best for your situation and that's the best keyboard for you.

+Jörg Starkmuth According to Roland it does. The sounds of this JX-03 (e.g. the oscillator interaction and the filter) sound exactly the same as the JX-3P. Oscillation of the filter can be heard on several sections of this demo. Both on the JP-03 and on the JX-3P it is not possible (without hardware modifications) to hear the filter on its own since the audio input of the filter is always a balanced mix between both oscillators

I am not sure what the problem was. The two kept sounding as if voices were dropped. They are not for me :(

Rob Lo, Pure Ambient Drone - The problem is RELEASE of sounds. If you have 8 voices polyphony, you have in fact 4 voices max (if not changed too fast). For example: 4 keys pressed, depressed, now pressed another 4. First 4 still sound (because of release). Looks ok, but if you press 4 notes, but accidentally during depressing, first 2 notes was catched as 2 new notes, your different 2 notes are cut. So if you want to have REAL 8 voices polyphony - go for 16 polyphony min. BTW: 4 voices of polyphony in JX03 is JOKE in my opinion :) This module is enough for lead or sequences only. Anyway module sounds very well for me :)

Yes, roland didn't institute the chaining properly. The new note would always pick up on the first synth even if you had free notes on the chained one.

The chorus in the JX is supposedly different than what is in the JU. Seems like the overwhelming majority of people prefer the JU chorus but I agree with you. The JX is less limited in what it can do when compared to the JU

jx/ju is DCO...doesn't do PWM like the Juno but you can do it by sacrificing your 2nd osc with...i prefer the chorus of the JX although there's not much difference. between the "I" setting on the Juno and the JX. Overall, I prefer the JX over the Juno though.

+synthartist69 It makes perfect sense. They are cheap as chips so, if you need 8 note polyphony, get 2 and use them in chain mode and you get your 8 notes for a fraction of the price of the vintage piece. I believe that even works between the different synths (i.e. add a JX-03 to a JU-06 for 8 note polyphony on the JU-06). Don't quote me on that as I haven't tried it but I believe that's correct. Mini keys and 2 octaves not for you? Me neither, so just use it with any 61 key controller of your choice. Roland created these things in such a way that anyone can use them in the way that fits them best. If it was a full size 61 key synth I certainly wouldn't consider buying it, and I imagine many others would be the same as most people have limited space for studio gear. As it is, you can have recreations of 3 classic synths in the space of a coffee table book.

The original Juno 106 is only 6 voices though...I think for 2 more voices it's 2 JU-06s are absolutely worth the money.

+1 to that question - could someone please confirm if you can indeed 'mix and match' these boutiques, in chain mode, to get more voices? For example, chaining a JX03 to a JU06 or chaining a JP08 to either the JX03 or the JU06 - do any of these combinations result in more voices, or not please? I don't believe you have any evidence for this. I'm sure the system-1 is more than capable. Roland just saw an opportunity to make vast sums of cash, as they knew people wouldn't be able to resist these iconic synths.

+buminbeer2 I have a gr700/gr707 which is the "same" synth as jx3p .....i agree its less musical, but if i were to score a film and had to chose between the 8,6, or 3 whether originals or remakes, I'd chose the jx3p in some form

David Chatterton Right on, David. I like creating music with instruments. A computer keyboard and mouse are not instruments. Not to mention all of the “prefab” loops that have so many people believing they are musicians because they can tap pads and rub their fingers around an X Y pad.

AN1X is one of my favorite VA synths of all time.

I really like my AN1x until the touch sensitivity and aftertouch died on me. Any idea if it might be a relatively easy fix? It still sounds very good, just a lot less expressive, naturally.
