Noise Reduction
It is really hard to show the Noise Eaters effect in a video. The seismometer apps are not a great indicator and the impact noise cannot be recorded. The way to test their functionality is actually to hold your ear to the floor in another room and let someone else play the kick drum with and without noise eaters. And this is what I did, but there is no point in showing this in a video. So you have to take my word for it.
Roland promises a noise reduction of 75% and I can confirm that this is more the less the case.
Conclusion
The Roland Noise Eaters are really expensive. A setup like this costs 400€. But they are simply highly effective. They do also have a lot of advantages to a DIY noise isolation board, as they are small, flat, transportable and can be stored easily. The Noise Eaters are also a good solution for people who are not into DIY solutions and rather like to buy a finished product.
They also protect the floor as your pedals will not touch or scratch it. A drum rug is not necessary.
The Noise Eaters might cost you a lot, but you can keep these things forever and you will only spend this money once. It is not like a module, where you see a new generation every 5 years. They will not break and they work with almost every e-drum setup. I think the Noise Eaters are one of the best e-drum related investments you can make. For me, a happy neighbour and the freedom to play drums without being concerned about disturbing others is worth 400€.

Great stuff. By the way, I went with config 4, but my speed cobra hi hat stand unfortunately wobbles way too much. I think I'll have to mount the hihat on the rack with some Gibraltar thingy. My previous cheap 3-legged hi hat stands did not have any issues though.

Hey Vdrum tips, I got my Noise eater today. Used with an iron cobra pedal and a KD9 kick. I live in a house, my home studio is upstairs and my wife sleeps in the bedroom right below the homestudio. i use to play electronic drums late at night, so I needed a good solution for the pedal vibrations on the floor. All I can say is that the noise eater really works! And works veeery well! I am amazed how good this thing is! Thank you for this review, because it was really helpful to me and made me take the right decision! Regards,

I just bought the RDH100 Roland (Single Pedal with Noise Eater) and a Noise Eater Pad for the hi hat. They are incredible. I live on the third floor of a five apartment building. It used to be super loud and disturb the entire building, now I haven't gotten one complaint and I'm playing more. These are awesome!

Nice vid thanks, I have a concern about the impact noise of my sticks on the VH-10 hi-hat, especially as this is struck constantly thus creating a frequency. I am sure my neighbour downstairs can hear this noise, would this be reduced by using an NE-10 and 3x NE-1’s under my hi-hat stand??? Thanks

Hey, so this video seems to be aimed at electronic drums, right? I am not sure from the video, if this would work with an acoustic bass drum? This is the one drum that I am trying to reduce the noise of right now. I am wondering, If i buy two whole platforms, one for the front of the bass drum, where the pedal is, and one for the opposite side, then two of the individual circles for the bass drum legs, will I be able to achieve noise reduction on an acoustic bass drum? Or should i focus on other solutions.

Hi, thanks for the video. Can I ask if the legs of the rack also need any NE1 or 10? Coz the vibrations from my hitting of my drums get transferred thru the rack to the ground too.
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 6 жыл бұрын
The rack is too heavy for an NE-1. The vibration transferred through the rack is not as critical.

Hey thanks for all the great videos and knowledge sharing. Does the NE10 need to stand on a hard surface (floor) in order to work? As opposed to i.e. a puzzle mat surface or a rug.

Not sure if this site is still being moderated , but I am wondering the same thing. Would a mat (low pile so as to not encroach in the airpace between the NE10 and the floor) or puzzle mat make vibration to the floor worse? Anyone ?

Hey, great video! Do you think that its possible to use the ne10 and ne1 with triple-leg hi hat stands, with a double pedal? It seems to me that its possible to use only with double-legs. If its so, I will have to buy a double-leg one. Thank you!

Yes, it is even better to use it with a 3-Leg Hi-hat stand, because you have more stability. You just rotate the legs and place them on 3x NE-1.

@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 5 жыл бұрын
Evgeny Krivoruchko I tested them and they are basically the same as the noise eaters, however they have a big downside. You are bound to the Roland pedals, which are standard drum and hi-hat pedals that do not fit every drummer. For me it is better to buy pedals of my liking and combine them with normal noise eaters.
@iskrauser
@iskrauser 5 жыл бұрын
@@Vdrumtips1 good point. In my case I'm buying this for my 7 y.o. son who doesn't have any preference and we don't have any pedal and hi-hat stand at the moment. So the RDH series seems to be a much cheaper option. But I agree it makes sense to invest in NE from a long-term perspective.

Huh! Just ordered them 2 days ago! Thanks for reassurance. But why are you saying that KD-9 is noisy even with NE-10? Can you elaborate?
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 7 жыл бұрын
The Noise Eaters reduce the noise of the kick pad, but don't cut it off. The KD-9 is so incredibly loud that it can even be annoying to others with the 25% the Noise Eaters can't eat. So I would get rid of it and get something like the KD-120 or KT-10, that have a much better effect with the Noise Eaters.
@moristar
@moristar 7 жыл бұрын
To be honest - I don't notice that TD-9 are particularly noisy. I don't hit hard to be honest and I use the plastic rounded part of a regular beater. It seems to be dampening the sound quite allright.

Thanks for the video, I watched this before deciding to get these for myself. Unfortunately, even after using these I got a complaint from my neighbors 2 floors below (I'm on the 4th/top floor, they are on the second). Do you think putting these on top of a drum platform would do the trick? (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iJZgnpCXr5zSd4E.html for example) Or would it possibly not be enough of a difference? Thanks
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 6 жыл бұрын
The noise eaters reduce only 75%. The rest of the 25% can rarely be reduced. The solution for you is a KT-9.
@sonor922
@sonor922 6 жыл бұрын
Won't those only reduce the sound of the beater hitting the bass drum? I think my issue is with the vibrations caused from hitting the kick drum. Which is why I thought the platform might be a good idea
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 6 жыл бұрын
If the sound comes from the kick drum, you ideally need a KT-9 + NE-10. A platform will only help if you build it well.
