A much quicker way to get to the relevant page is to hold [SHIFT] and move whatever controller you wan't to assign. This works all over the RD-2000!

Ludvig Olin very true, that shortcut works as well but I wanted to show the actual path that that would take you through.

Really helpful vid. Thanks. I would like to know whether this Roland have removed the problem I found with both my RD700GX and to a lesser degree RD800, when moving from preset sound to another sound there is a sudden resetting of the volume. This is normally very loud and very annoying during a gig. I have got around it by noting where the volume fader is set for the first sound, changing to the second sound and before playing the keys I move the volume fader down then up then back to the noted mark of my original sound. Hope i haven't lost you in the explanation, but of all the people i have spoken to about this problem half have experienced it; the other half simply don't understand it and therefore they don't understand. Probably because they don't use the keyboard to its limits. For though after having two different keyboards i will not get another Roland if that is a standard experience. Love Roland gear but hate the feeling I get because my keys have blasted the ears of the members of the band, not to mention the poor sound engineer.

what mod 1 effect the other zones if they are layered?

Hi Ben.. thanks for making this video, appreciate for sharing and it help the RD-2000 user a lot. I had become the 1.94xK subscriber.. :) What i'm questioning about, can we save the custom assign CC not in a spesific program. I'm wondering if it can be applied general to all program, or might be the custom assign can be saved in user presets, which we can reload anytime and apply to different program, it would be what i expect from Roland RD-2000. Can you give some comment on this..?

Hi Ben, thanks for the videos... can you assign MIDI control (external) to ALL of the sliders of just some of them. This video seems to show that only ONE fader can be assigned as a midi controller. Can you let me know?

Dory Video all faders and knobs are 100% assignable to external functions. I have another video showing how I set up the RD-2000 to control MainStage, and in it I assign 6 faders to control the plugins and mixer in the Mac.

Yes you have but those sliders seem only to transmitting CC7 can you programme the sliders to transmit OTHER CC numbers?

Dory Video yes, they can be assigned any CC number you like. You an actually assign two sets of CC to each fader, and switch between them as needed.

Hi Ben, Many thanks too for taking your time making these videos - much appreciated! However, I'm struggling to assign anything other than one CC param to ALL of the sliders. Fine for individual knobs but I'm not having any joy with the sliders. Would love to hear how this is possible if you have the time. I've been in contact with Roland UK who say they don't think you can, so I'd love to hear how to prove them wrong! Kindest regards.

Also, I am thinking of two keyboards and I know that you will these two keyboards are drastic comparisons but I am looking into NORD stage 3 compact and RD2000...I am in needs of piano and pads layered on top of the piano...could I get your opinion on just those two needs? Ok, let me explain quickly why these two...one price and one Keybed feel and portability...I will compromise feel for portability, but if the RD2000 does not do a great piano with great pads layered on top...hopefully i am not confusing...let me know ! Thank you!

Hey Ben. I'd be very grateful if you could explain to me how to assign each fader to a different CC, as I've looked at everything and just can't seem to be able to do it. It will only let me change one faders CC globally. Which is no good at all, as I'm trying to edit parameters that I can't do the 'learn' kind of mainstage function on, from other external gear. Surely there is a way to do this, and I'm for some reason, overlooking it! :) PS - Thanks very much for your K&M Stand comments!

Hi James. So, I dug into this for you and it seems you can assign two CC options for each set. That is to say, in default position, you can assign one CC for all faders, but then Assign has an option to assign another CC for a second set across all faders. The second set is accessed via the Assign option showing beside the number 9 fader. So, technically speaking, you can assign all faders to be one CC in one set, and all faders to control one CC in another set. It sounds like you may be better off using the assignable knobs to control your various parameters in external gear or software. Or, you could purchase something like a Korg NanoKontrol for that purpose. Hope this helps!

Hi Ben, I am interested in getting RD2000, but I want to see more on the pads and stage piano sounds...I need to see if this is the piano for me at my church...so I am hoping that the pads will do me well with piano when playing on stage...could you demonstrate this and play some kind chords or even better play a Christian song with chords...so I need piano and different kinds of pads with the piano? Thank you in advance!
