VS-2400 operates with a maximum disk capacity of 120 GB. If you insert a disk with a larger capacity, machine will still see only 120gb and there will be periodic problems with disk recognition at startup. You cannot disc format in a computer, only on the machine itself. The machine does not recognize a disk formatted in a computer, and will offer to make its own format when it boots. The organization of files and table of contents of Roland's disk is too unique and not compatible with mac / pc systems.

I've got a VS-1824 and a BOSS BR-1180CD and I just may try and Frankenstein them together with one of these drive units. It would be nice if their operating systems could share by moving the SSD from one machine to the other but I doubt I'll get that lucky. Just having an independent 120gb drive in each of these machines instead of the CD burner up front in each of them is a huge advantage over saving to CD's with their limited capacity.

I do have some older cameras and iPod style players that came with windows programs on small disks that were specifically designed to format sim cards. The sim cards are completely unreadable on a normal computer without their special software installed and you can't format something that the computer cannot even recognize as a storage media. These are Chinese knockoffs of more familiar brands though. As far as Roland gear and Boss gear playing together I'm not sure? Have you tried it? Most companies support legacy hardware and software for awhile at least. I did order one of the devices like your using just to play with. At about $15 bucks shipped I'm not out much if I can't make it work. I've got a couple of SSD drives laying around that I'm not using so I'll try one of those first. I seem to remember the Roland units being picky about gear when people were replacing hard drives or even burner drives. Whatever factory drivers were installed didn't always play well with other brands of hardware. Maybe that limitation only applied to the older gear? I still prefer these older dinosaurs with their real knobs and sliders to a total software based computer recording system.

Oh no, the "PCI" in this 9100 basket is refers to only mechanical mounting standard into a slot in a computer enclosure. The basket has no electrical connectors for the PCI bus. It has standard SATA connectors. Привет!) да, это было бы прямое ide подключение без sata адаптера - лучший вариант естественно. Я интуитивно решил встроить ssd, ну поскольку они уже там работают, и идею например с теми же CF не принял во внимание, хотя давно и были мысли об этом. Решение на картах выйдет дороже, к тому же, карт на 120 gb нет, а есть только на 128, это значит, что могут быть проблемы с распознаванием и работой системы (она видит 120 максимум), а иметь пространство в 64 gb для работы мне мало… Несколько карт - навскидку, дороже. Да и карта маленькая, потеряшка ещё та )) помню, меньший собрат (sd-шка) от камеры с материалами по очередному отснятому ремонту куда-то завалилась и еле нашлась, случайно 😀
