Shadows of brimstone is in my top 3 of all time. The way that the map layout is changing every time you play and the other worlds that are so different from each other add so much to the story. There's a lot of dice but a lot of way to build your characters so they have different strategies that you can use to get around bad rolls. If you add Hexcrawl on top of this it's just amazing

Two games spring to mind for me: Star Wars Imperial Assault and Dawn of the Zeds. Imperial Assault is a Descent 2 minis game set in Star Wars universe and is a blast to play solo or with others in campaign; DotZ is, well, zombies!

There's a lot of content for it. I recommend the two revised cores and the town expansion. That'll keep you busy for quite a while and it'll help you determine if you want to go further. The positive is that there is no rush and Flying Frog has been supporting the game for almost 10 years. You may also be able to find a bundle used as well which is always a great option.

@@RollingSolo Hey! Hard choice....Probably Dungeon Degenerates because of the art, the gameplay and the simple combat mechanic! Folklore is hard with the 'upkeep' and small modifiers, but its still great when you let go and just play solo without caring too much about specifics rules (I had the same mix-feeling with Hexplore It!)! And Shadows of Brimstone is really fun, especially with the free hexcrawl campaign, but the storage and installation is just a pain...BUT If I had a table to let the game sitting there for a couple of week, I'd probably choose this one first. So long story short, haha, I'd go with Dungeon Degenerates!

The storage and organization of SOB is the only con if you’ve gone well down the rabbit hole. I feel that pain haha. Also these top 3 for me could probably change positions in different months. So they’re all quality! DD is a great pick!

Best solo game channel! Can you do a Top 10 solo games of single box games? Meaning solo games and their expansions that fit into a single box like Fallout, Dune, Project Gaia, etc I started getting Kickstarters delivered, and they take so much room that I think I will stick with single box games from now on. Thanks!

Super kind of you! I've always got the solo gamers as top priority. Interesting, that could be a fun one to do. I'll be sharing some future videos and photos of a company I'm speaking with that reduce the boxes of those big crowdfunding games down and organize them. @@RollingSolo tough choice, without seeing how they play. Am just about to watch some of your videos of Kilforth (though it was Gloom), in order to get a better feel for it. Also found some unboxing for Brimstone, but no playthrough? The campaign for that sounded quite interesting. Will check out Folklore later too, then figure out which intrigues me most.

I haven’t done a playthrough for SOB yet but I plan to in the future. After my move last year I need to get it all reorganized. It’s on the to do list!

@@RollingSolo You bet, my friend. I've got only core set and Dark Tales and man... there's a bunch of things. There are also some other campaings on the BGG playabe with the Dark Tales expansion. It absolutely rocks. In fact I learnt to play with you as far as I remember.

Deep Madness and Folklore are tops. Gloom of Kilforth is great and your right about the artwork... would rank it folklore, then madness then kilforth. Madness and Folklore are two games I completely painted and played all the way through.

You might like Fireteam Zero if you like Deep Madness. Less fiddly and some cool card and dice usage.

Oh the reckoners! I don’t ever see anyone talk about that game. I had no idea an expansion came out for it. Gloom of kilforth and apex are games I recently discovered but wasn’t sure if they were worth the buy. Gonna have to pull the trigger on one of them now. Folklore is something I def need to get to the table now. I’ve had it for a while, but the wife and I struggle to keep a campaign going. Since it’s a solid solo play I’ll def be digging into it now.

@@RollingSolo a game I would like to personally add to the list is castle panic. Whenever I wanna play something and want a very laid back simple game, I always go to this one. Being a forever exausted parent it’s starting to see more time at the table now.

For Dungeon Degenerates the color scheme reflect the theme as Psicodelic, heavy metal, dark and extremely grim dark fantasy with an extensive lore. It reminds me of a wathammer fantasy wanna be a la british punk way. The art book is called " Acid vomit". Is a fantastic, expensive, and thematic game. With all expansions and books, including nessesary The Wurst magazines, without metal minis it goes for about 400$ without shipping.

I have Apex, thx for mentioning it. Not yet looked into it, i saw it in a second hand group and snagged it away quickly. Did you played Goblivion and or Dinoblivion? Both fun deckbuilders. You can play solo or pvp or duo. There is a new game Goldblivion comming and a renewed version of goblivion. Both funded last year on KS.

I've been looking at SoB for about two years and I finally pulled the trigger and bought core set City of Ancients and Swamp's of Death as well as Frontier Town. This is my first game that's both a dice chucker and dungeon crawl. I have to say it's my number one game. This is a game I can see me playing for years to come. I recently started looking into the Hex Crawl aspect and ordered the Hex Crawl adventure and encounter book. I can't get enough of this game. I'm ordering the Derelict Ship next week and can't wait to check it out. I would love to see you do some more videos on SoB. Any recommendations on some good enemy packs to get just let me know. I'm just now feeling like I have most of the rules understanding and at first it made my head spin but I love the random factor of this game

Hexcrawl amps the game up so well. I don’t use all of it as it gets a bit insane but there is a mine blast mode I love, the enhanced charts and world map are sweet too.

I'm surprised your local game store stocked 'Leaving Earth' on their shelves. When I picked it up it was pretty much an indie, to be ordered from the publisher's website as a print-on-demand game which took about a month or more to receive. Still rather rare in online game stores from what I've seen, other than those with the widest range like Noble Knight. Even then, it can be hit or miss at times regarding stock status. I suppose the reason is due to the game having constant math involved, even if it's only basic math. That likely turns a lot of people off.

If you have to recommend between this game or Oathsworn to go all in, buying everything or pretty much all of it. What would you recommend? I know its subjective but I am eyeing both of them and trying to decide what to buy! I am looking for a great solo experience (that also offers good co op if I have someone interested in it), engaging gameplay and with tons of replayability! Would love to hear your opinion! Thanks!

If you’re going with Brimstone. The two revised core sets (original ones) and Frontier town expansion would be great buys to get started. After that but in release order or whatever suits you. There is Forbidden Fortress which is another core box entry box too.

The problem on Leaving Earth is that is very hard to buy, the company prints the game on demand and the game comes in a shoe box... btw the creator lost the rights for the game to the publisher...

This is a very valid point! It came into my FLGS and it wasn't hard to obtain at the time when I grabbed it. That may have changed based on the info you're mentioning today. This is great info for people hunting for it. My advice would be to avoid overpaying for it and snag it second hand off a board game group buy/sell.

I do love Kilforth, have both of this games but i never understood the praise about the art. Most of the caracters are stills from movies or even Google images for some of the models where it was just photoshopped in. I doubt the actors or models gave permission to use their image on a sold product.

Ya, I can understand that. The design of the game is great and holds water still. There's no other dungeon crawler like it. I'm sure they will venture into other designs in the future but currently the fan base around Gloom is massive.

Indeed they are! None of them are considered part of the hotness and other games have come out after them which have pushed them back from the spotlight. Thanks for watching!
