Romania has the longest border with Ukraine of any member of NATO. More than 3 million Ukrainians have fled to Romania since February 24th, around half of them through neighbouring Moldova. The Romanian government has sent ammunition, bulletproof vests and helmets to Ukraine, and has also served as a transit point for other countries’ contributions to the Ukrainian war effort. One of your speakers stated that Romania shares cultural ties with Moldova. In fact, those ties are more than cultural: they are linguistic and historical. Romanian, a Latin-based language, is spoken in both countries. Romanians do understand your tribulations, as they also experienced several Russian occupations in the distant and no-so-distant past. From my perspective, Ukraine, in order to get more help from Romanians, needs to navigate very carefully Romanians' linguistic sensitivity. All the best in what you do and wish the best possible outcome in these very difficult times.

The war would have taken place regardless of whether Ukraine was on the side of Europe or Russia! With Ukraine on the side of the Europeans, the battlefield is held on the territory of Ukraine! But if Ukraine was on Russia's side, this war would have been fought on the territory of Moldova and Romania. Ukraine is fighting not only for itself but also for the rest of Europe and we must do everything possible for Ukraine to win! As a Romanian, I am forever grateful to the Ukrainians and I hope from the bottom of my heart that this war will end soon! Glory to Ukraine!

It cannot be stressed enough that Sosoaca is the lone parliamentarian of that political group. All parties forming the governing majority and those with a chance after next elections to form the governing majority have rejected collaboration with Sosoaca and her ilk. She's that one politician that has ties with the Russian Embassy, in 2022 she kept going to events at this embassy and probably gets funding from the Kremlin. That being said, the Russians are not popular even with the supporters of these nutjob groups in Romania, so all they can do to try to please their Kremlin puppetmasters is to bring some sort of negative, to muddy the waters, by suggesting that Ukraine and Russia are equally unfriendly for Romania. Everyone with more than 2 braincells understands that this is not the case, and that Russia is the great nemesis of the Romanian state, not anybody else.
