Rome's remaining monuments 1,700 years or older compared to models of how they actually looked and who had them built. Model of how Rome looked 300 AD and 500 BC.

One little correction, Rome touched the population of a million during the reign of Flavian dynasty and 5 good emperors. After that the city suffered nearly a century of warfare, plagues and upheaval after which emperor Diocletian reduced the cities importance as the capital of the empire. After that when Constantine came the city was already well below a million inhabitants (though most probably still the largest in the world) and in less than a century it was sacked for the first time in 800 years.

I enjoyed your video very much. I plan to see Rome in November. I don't want to go in summer as it will be too busy. They are putting in a new floor for the Colosseum, so in the future, you will be able to stand in the centre and get a gladiator's view. I think this is a brilliant idea and if it was up to me I would bring it back to its former glory and make it the greatest venue for concerts and the arts in the entire world. It would probably cost billions but so d new football stadiums and imagine how many tourists would come to Rome to stand in the Colosseum in its former glory. It could then stand like that for 2000 more years. Whoops waffled.

Awesome historical overview and great video footage! Some county or province somewhere in the world has to make a new city completely according to Roman architecture. It musn’t look like a typical Roman colony, but more organic like Ostia, Naepolis, or of course Rome it self. There must be many parks, a large forum and many public squares that can house markets daily, for there must be no vehicles within the city. The city can have everything a modern city has(and indeed what Rome had as well), just with a Roman facade. Offices, bars, bakeries, retail stores even shopping malls could work just a square building with a large garden atrium around which the storefronts would work. I can see myself walking there.
