Determined to change South Los Angeles from food desert to food forest, Ron Finley wants his actions to be educational, inspiring, and nutritious. He wants kids to grow up with the option of healthy food, instead of fried, fattening staples. He wants to sweep up and transform his street, his hood, the city of LA and communities everywhere.

I’m watching this guy in master class and I LOVE him. It’s this simple! 🙌🤩💕 Our kids went to school in Europe and gardening at the community garden was part of their school day. So nice to see change coming!!

I've been planting seeds in random places since I was 9 years old. I call it "Rogue gardening." There might only be a 30% yield, but I know where I can go and find fruits and vegetables growing wild. I encourage everyone to plant seeds wherever they find dirt. Ron Finley is my kind of people.✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

They had a name for inner cities called "Concrete Jungle", because instead of flowers and greenery it was more concrete. Trees play a critical role for people and the planet. Numerous studies show that the presence of trees and urban nature can improve people's mental and physical health, children's attention and test scores, the property values in a neighborhood, and beyond.

I love this! We've done quite a bit of guerrilla gardening in my town too - we planted a whole little woods of elms, cedars and oaks behind our local library, not to mention years of veggie gardens on vacant lots. The trees we planted are 40' tall now. Do it! That's all I can say.
