I remember seeing him in Lost Horizon and A Double Life and enjoying those pictures as a young teenager. My mother liked him and I dug his voice. I apologise, Jerome, for being a late arrival to your channel. I must say I'm surprised that you've developed a love for the older movies and actors, but I do believe that has something to with being an avid reader. There's something about older movies that brings out the story more, even if Hollywood tended to alter endings of book adaptations to suit mass audiences. When I was little, my mum turned me on to old movies and I am lucky enough to be from an era when television would always be showing these gems as either evening fare or late night and into the wee hours of the morning. I watched everything and loved them all. Ronald Colman quickly became one of my favourite actors of all. His calm delivery, even in moments of stress, his unique voice, his versatility, his ability to convey emotion with just a look. As a man, I can even look at him and unashamedly agree that he was very handsome. What struck me most about him was always the sense of honour he portrayed. I felt the heartbreak when he knew he had to leave Princess Flavia in The Prisoner of Zenda, yet I also knew it was the right thing to do. I have done my best to echo his sense of honour in my own life and I can honestly say, a lot of myself came from watching his movies. Best of all, his honour extended to his private life, where he stayed steadfastly true to his wife and family, despite all the temptation his working life would give him. Thank you for recognising this wonderful actor. The world could use role models like Ronald Colman.

I'ts not odd at all that these people are forgotten just from history thats what happens. I'm British and born in the 60's I know about Coleman because you'd still see his movies as a kid in movie matinees on ITV or BBC in the 70's but now. I think you will come to realise that fame is fleeting and all thats left is a name that might be remembered, this will happen to the very biggest stars of today after three generations. I read the biography a few years back, when I was about 13 or 14, and loved it. A very touching and poignant book. (By the way, yes, Ronald Colman is totally my celebrity crush!)

'The man with the velvet voice' fell in love with him when I was 15 years old all most sixty he still excite me when I heard him speak in 'The tales of two cities ' He is the best of British actor, oh & Lawrence Olivier.

I was also really surprised that he is forgotten...not merely forgotten but conspicuously so...but also as an English person where it is said that one can know almost everything about a person within 20 seconds of them speaking (accent social class wealth) RC spoke a posh form of English but it was not RS (received speech or BBC accent).. it was an accent full of anomalies impossible to place define or explain... I just thought I'd tell you..to the listener on this side of the pond he was a real enigma.

I had a “man crush” on Ronald Colman after I saw him at a classic movie night at university. I tried to grow his style of mustache with no luck.

I have just seen Colman's My Life With Caroline, that I have been avoiding for 40 years because I heard it was an awful movie. To my surprise, it was a great drawing room comedy with Colman at his charming best.

My Dear, Mr. Coleman first was not an “old” actor as you have stated, he was a classic actor and you may be surprised at how many actually know who he was and also happen to be devoted fans. Good luck with your future endeavors.
