When Ronaldo came he refused to step aside and let go off his iron grip and that showed his true face in a bad way. To compare Romario with the complete Ronaldo is not really accurat. You talk about a nr9 that made a fool out of what ever defender/players that you placed infront of him, from standing stil to explossion in pace. Romario had a few good yrs in Europe. Kids of today who barely started watching football and all they've seen is Messi and CR7 certify that either Messi or CR7 are the best of all time when they don't know anything about history of the sport. And the crazy thing is that they get angry when someone has a different opinion and call it bs. Older people like me who have watched the sport long can tell you that Messi nor CR7 were as complete as R9. Kids of today like to use numbers written on Google as their proof, like the 91 goals of Messi in 2011-12 , and for that, Messi is their goat. Me personally, I judge a player based on what my eyes see, the talent, the dribble, the strength and rising to the top when is needed most. Number of goals are highly influenced by the team you play for ( playing for powerful clubs like Madrid or Barcelona will just by itself give you a higher probability of scoring more goals than if you were playing for lower teams like Villarreal, Valencia, New Castle, Napoli, etc). I really don't think Messi nor CR7 would have reached same numbers if they played in the same teams as R9 did. Notice that R9 came new to a regular Barcelona not the best Barcelona ever as Messi in the time of Guardiola. Because even if Messi who was coming up from lower category in Barcelona where he was already loved and knew his teammates, his numbers the first years were not same as R9 in his first and only season. That's what sets R9 apart for me, that basically he didn't needed to be a player for whom the rest of the team would play for, he didn't need creative players like Xavi and Iniesta to become top scorer everywhere he went. And those who watched R9 from the beginning know that he started destroying the Brazilian league as a 16 year old new kid on the block with no respect whatsoever from teammates, but somehow everywhere he went, all the teams and different leagues he played at before his injury, he became top scorer no matter the opponents or his own teammates. Before injury, I can say R9 was a player who you could put in any team and he would end up being a top scorer. I don't like to talk about what I haven't seen, like pele, but for me without a doubt R9 is the best player my eyes have seen. And for those kids who like statistics so much and base their judgement only on that, I have one for them: out of Messi, CR7 and R9, the highest percentage of scoring for their country is R9 followed closely by CR7 and Messi is the lowest of the three. Messi fans can't argue that it was because Brazil was a better team and thus the reason why R9 has higher scoring percentage because then why would CR7 have higher scoring percentage than Messi if Argentina surely is better than Portugal. R9 is the GOAT for me.
