The thing that people don't realise when they compare CR7 and Messi is that, due to Messi's height, it is easier for him to dribble past players as naturally he has a low centre of gravity. CR7's height and physicality makes it difficult for him to have a similar dribbling style. But at the same time, he doesn't have to depend only on his dribbling and passing attributes to score/assist. If you stop Messi from dribbling (albeit the defenders have to be VERY VERY good to do that), he doesn't have much other than his passing ability to assist.
