I love when you can see the joy in a musician’s face when they are in the zone and really having fun.

When I lived in Frisco with Ronnie he would say to me," Steve, nothing is happening! Drag my amp out into the alley!" Ronnie would jump up on top of the amp and open fire! And people would come from all over the Tenderloin and something was happening! Rock and Roll is all I've got!

I love the fact that Ronnie plays these intricate figures on guitar...I always think that his sound is accidental in these intricate figure they were or are one-off improvisations... but then I hear the live versions an Ronnie Montrose is in total complete command getting the exact same sound and tone he got in the studio-- playing the intricate figures note-for-note........this is not an easy thing to do and not necessarily the case with other guitar virtuosos.

Yes!! I'd MUCH rather hear 5 tasty & melodic notes from someone like Ronnie Montrose, Neal Schon or Steve Lukather than 1000 cold and clinical-sounding notes from Joe Satriani ...

I agree it's obnoxious, but he's keeping perfect time. Listen to the original studio version of this song, and it's the same tempo. I think it's the way it was mic'd/tuned on the kick drum for this show. Or he needs a new head, bigger pillow LOL.
