United States of America (USA).
American President Franklin Delano Roosevelt seated at desk in front of wall map talking - natural sound. He points out the main shipping routes used by the US. Close up shot of President Roosevelt answering to the critics who claimed that the America is a nation of 'playboys' hiring other countries to do their fighting. He dares the critics to repeat that now after the work being done by General MacArthur and others in the Pacific - 'Let them tell that to the Marines' - he concludes.

This was one of FDR's most noteworthy Fireside Chats. He asked the American people in advance to have a world map to follow while he spoke. Nearly every book store and map store promptly sold out of their entire supply.

I sat in a classroom at PS 255 Bklyn NY in the 1950's studying a world map above the blackboard. Unfortunately I doubt that most teenagers today know the name of one country in Central America. They might reply Chicago....

He tried to be honest with the people. I saw a speech where he said " how will we pay for this war? Bonds and taxes. Taxes and bonds" but said in a way that let people know he understood that it would be a hardship. And the fireside chat where he explained how banking worked. America was naive then. After the war, after Korea, view Nam, and the rest, America became jaded and cynical. I can't imagine the 2 parties coming together for a common goal nowadays. Or having a president that was afforded the respect FDR did.

Yes, this was made for theaters. People would actually go the theaters during WW2 just to watch film of the news, but somethimes they would play the news and then play a movie afterwards.

while the red army did the main effort in the war but without the US involvement the entire war would turned into a terrible direction. The massive US economy not only played its part but also made an allied victory possible. The red army was decimated in late 1941, they relied alot on the lend lease and so did the UK
