crazy this was my very first video I've seen from them I've bee watching for 5 years time flies

guys i beat him 1min 30s, put snow as the leader,lightning,sazh(or anyone who knows haste). use sen/med/syn at the start. hes gonna start attacking snow and then immediately when he goes to guard,switch rav/rav/rav to build the chain guage, doesn't matter if he shifts to offensive, you will still have probably 60% health after attacks, just make sure you stagger him in the offensive mode!!, switch to com/com/rav and keep him in the air and done.he wont transform if you do this right...

That's why I love this game. You gotta plan and lose your fear of dieing. sometimes, you gotta go head on, even when you're abot to die.

i used Lightning, Snow, and Sazh in this fight and i got 5 Stars. he barely had time to transform before i finished him off. no shrouds or eidolons either. in the beginning i buffed with sazh and he never took them away during the whole fight. whenever i needed to heal i used med>com>com or med>rav>rav. this help in staggering this guy. otherwise i used relentless attack to stagger him then used cerberus when he was staggered

@TheTwilightInferno do you skip battles when you are traversing through levels? thats probably why.

What is the point of using the buffers if he is just going to take them off (like the arisole)? Which paradims are you using?

How did you record the battle? Like what software/ camera/ method did you use? If I may ask

@KHAMfreak I am having a very difficult time finding this "videoreply" you guys are talking about. Any suggestions on where or what 'videoreply' is? I know some people post Video Replies on some videos but I see no such thing here.

I took me 2 minutes, I had Sahz, Lightning and Hope, I used a fortisol, began with the Supernatural paradigm to be protected, then used Tri-disaster to stagger him quickly (notice that ravagers make the stagger gauge go up more quickly than commandos) and then changed to Agression mode to keep him in the air while he was staggered and defeat him.

I just got to this fight after deciding to replay this game... And immediately I had traumatic memories resurface as soon as I heard him say "The Fal'Cie have no hold over me" because I had a flashback to the last time I played this game several years ago (I'm pretty sure that was also the first and only time I ever actually got past this fight and even then I never was able to actually beat the game because I suck at it) because I kept on trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and _TRYING_ to beat him but I was so bad at it that I just couldn't...and I heard that line literally hundreds of times...

"haha, he's gonna beat you down with his beat off hand" "hehehe.."

@melculrapid CORRECTION:..start using relentless assault when you are all buffed up...when he guards...attempt to stagger..he won't attack ever..

@Killswitch750 I believe I used Lightning/Snow/Hope, and buffed myself at the beginning with the protection shroud. Then, I put my team as Rav/Sen/Rav (Mystic Tower) and got him to stagger before I did anything else. Then, I used Lightning's Eidolon either right before or when this guy just enters stagger. Then, I repeated until he died. But if you just switch your paradigm to the wrong thing when he is in offence mode, you might as well start over cause that stagger meter goes down fast.

easy trick to get the stagger meter filled faster use a commando and the magic one. Use them both because magic brings it up fast but lowers it faster. Commando raises it slowly but goes down slower. Combine the two and it goes up fast and goes down slow. Hope this helps.

Also it is very important that when he goes into second form that you use the following: (Lightning, Hope, Fang) COM / MED / SAB If you stay on it long enough, Fang will use her Sab move 'Dispel'. You've GOT to remove the 3 shields on Cid Raines. Else you will do 200-300 dmg per hit instead of 1500. When you dispel him, you can start hitting him more powerful and can wipe him out.

Are there different difficulties bc I had an easy time against him

What weapon is Lighting equiped with?

Used a similar strategy with Lighting, Hope, and Sazh and got the 5 star. The Com,Syn,Syn strategy really helps out.

I used fang as my main character then vanille for healing then i use snow as sentinal...when he has his buffs on i w8 till he uses guard then i use fangs sabouter class thingyy to dispell his buffs. when he uses the serpheic ray keep snow on sentinal and since snow will use challenge on raines so when he uses the ray thingy, raines thing will do more damage to snow but snow will be using medi guard

by the way, i still think that you guys are amazing, you really helped on the other bosses

This is what I did: Party: Lightning, Fang, Hope. At the start I used Evened Odds (Medic, Saboteur, Synergist) to cast buffs on team and curses on enemy, while you heal party when needed. When Cid is in offensive use Delta attack (Commando, Sentinel, Ravager) this way you attack, Fang takes the hits but since she's sentinel she takes less and Hope builds up stagger with spells. When Cid is in defensive use Relentless Assault (Ravager, Commando, Ravager) to rapidly build up the stagger.

If he casts doom on you, that usually means you are taking WAY too long to kill him. The vids strategy would help a lot. My strategy was: everytime he changes status (heal, guard, buff, offence) I changed immediately. He changes his status to oppose yours, so switching between paradigms is vital for this boss. When he healed, I went on the offence, when he guarded i healed, when he buffed I debuffed, and when he went on the offence I syn/Med. Only took 4:37 min to beat. Hope this helped!

To add to what you said you can also use a battle team of Lightning/Hope/Fang... to start use the Evened Odds paradigm to have Hope buff the party while Fang inflicts Slow and Curse. When he switches to Offensive Shift go with the Delta Attack paradigm. When he switches to Defensive Shift that's your opportunity to go all out with Relentless Assault while using Solidarity or Combat Clinic when you need to heal. Rinse and repeat. I agree with you they make this guy seem tougher than he is.

I used the roles Hax Tsu said with Lightning, Vanille, and Snow and I beat him around 3 mins. I used an ether and ageisol before and I only used RAV-RAV-RAV then when staggered RAV-RAV-COM and I was done. Hope this helps!

Same... except I didn't use protection. I just used Relentless Assault, then switched to Combat Dino to heal... I figured out that since he changes Shifts that reflect your own shifts, I just used the 2 offensive and defensive Shifts to "force" him into a "Defend-At-All-Times" boss battle.

I beat him without shrouds and also before he even transformed, the key is to keep your buffs up, mainly haste and get him to stagger, and while he is staggered, make sure he does not land time your attacks so he does not transform, he is most venerable before he transforms.

I swear, in an alternate universe Sid Raines is Noctis. I really thought that fabulosa Crystal thing would explain his origins in Final Fantasy 15.

I got him in 3 mins..used lightning, vanille, snow. mainly used tridisater (rav-rav-rav), after getting to the the hit point. then change to com-rav-sab. and switch betwwen com-sav-sav...then he'll be done pretty fast

Another method I used to five star this battle: I used Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille. Started out with Relentless Assault for one combo to get some quick damage on him and bolster the stagger meter. I then switched to Bully and had Sazh buff up everyone with anything they didn't get from sprays (I also didn't have a Fortisal at the time) while Vanille tried to debuff the boss.

easy way to beat him: diversity using lightning as commando, snow as ravager and vanille medic. spam attacks on him and then when staggered switch to tireless charge. make sure to equip twin brawler bands to both snow and light. shaman marks work well on vanille.

@DachshundLazerMan No problem. I wanted to say this but I didn't have anymore room. When trying to get him staggered, triple RAV(tri-disaster) will be fine if you have the right party. Once he is staggered, switch to each COM COM RAV(aggression), or COM COM COM(cerberus) and keep his ass launched at all times. For healing and defense, I used the same paradigm, MED SYN SEN(protection). With Lightning, Sahz and Snow, in that set up I beat him in 2 minutes 36 seconds.

I just used Fang/Lightning/Vanille, using fang to slow him, then either relentless assault or combat clinic. Didn't have to use a summon, although i didn't 5 star either.

i finish him with just 1 stagger. use raveger to make the stagger meter full faster and change to commando and air juggle him then u can either finish him with 1-2 staggers if ur lucky u might smite him in the air which does a lot of damage

Used Light Fang and Vanille, did it in like 3 mins. Use shrouds at the start of the fight. Start with Rav/Sab/Sab and get everything you can before switching to Rav/Rav/Sen. Fang will hold Raines' attention while Light and Vanille build his stagger. With all debuffs on him and your shrouds, you can beat him before the Metamorphase. Enjoy!

@uchihabros13 You have to change your paradigms. Have Lighting be a Commando. Hope, medic, and Fang, Sentenial or however you spell it. Light will attack, while Hope heals, and while Fang provokes Cid, he'll attack her only. But also have the paradigm where Light and Hope are ravagers, while Fang is a commando. So you can take some time to try and stagger him while he's using guard. As soon as he is finished using guard. Go back to the first paradigm to use.

I hope my strategy can help those who are stuck at this boss: Method 1(Light/Snow/Vanille): If you are very precise with timing, start with RAVx3, build up to near stagger and switch to COMx2 w/ RAV (or you can do this with sazh, and start with RAVx3 then COMx3). Method 2: Easy enough, use RAVx2 and COM to build instead of RAVx3 Feel free to use buffs and shrouds, personally, i didn't. Cause higher damage=faster to seraphic ray threshold, the methods are to prevent that from happening.

did it in less then a minute no summon just three RAVs and some help from Aegisol and Fortisol when fully staggerd (999.99) switch to three COMs and your done!

I used Snow, light and van to beat him in about 3 mins 30 secs. i did not use any buffs cause there is no point in buffing if he removes all buffs, but i used van as my sab in ruthlesness(com, rav,sab) and smart bomb(rav, rav, sab) to get him up to the stager point, and used combat clinic( sen, med, med) to recover from high damage real fast. Then i used Relentless attack (com, rav, rav) after he gets staggered and launched him in the air. Take turns attacking him so he stays in the air. 5 stars

The most important debuff to get on him is Imperil. Once that landed on him I switched to Tri-Disaster and whaled on him until he removed the buffs/debuffs. I quickly switched to Discretion (Medic/Commando/Medic) to heal up, then repeated the process with Bully. I ended up killing him before he even became staggered and got a 5-star victory.

have Sazh buff the party only with haste at the beginning, switch to Ra/Sen/Rav to build the stagger chain and keep cid distracted, then Rav/Com/Rav or Com/Com/Com should kill him on the 1st stagger

4:08 Geoff: Not true. They are called 2x4 because that's size they are when they reach the lumber yard and they are rough cut. They end up at 1.5x3.5 because of the milling process that makes them smooth and square.

@MrDeliciousNacho theres a trick to defeating thr eidololns easily without any buffs. you have to use the paradigm the charchter specialises in - with snow i think it might be senital and then press sqaure when it says.

i was having so much trouble with this boss, I didn't even think of using shrouds/odin since I've never needed to before and when I did he dropped in 2:24

@seriouslyfriedgang I find that trying to stagger him you'll die in trying to because he will switch between certain modes offense mode, defensive mode and healing mode I tried even with 2 healers you still die sooner or later

at 1:20 / 1:21 it sounded like one of the final fantasy characters said in a chipmunk voice "Fine by me!" lol

@cristianho777 it took a lot of time but i farmed allot of cp theres a spot where a behemoth is at and before that is the 2 different flan battles and they keep on reappearing and give allot of cp then i sold whatever unused items armor weapons then i bought sturdy bone to help max out the exp of the weapon the the turbojet which has the highest exp at that time in the game. hope that helps if not let me know

What I did was I simply went with a team of Lightning, Hope, and Fang. I used Protection at the start of the fight (Medic-Synergist-Sentinel) and once everyone was buffed, I just went with Relentless Assault and staggered him quickly. Once staggered, I raised his chain gauge to about 700% and I just switched to Aggression (Commando-Ravager-Commando) and just continued launching him. He didn't even have the chance to use Metamorphose and Seraphic Ray on me

ow yeah srry to ask but how did he hit so much on him :O fully upgraded weapons? O_O i don't even hit that much, and im in the big field with those missions (ch. 11 i believe )
