really, the only paradigms i used to defeat Hecatoncheir was sab\sen and med\sen. as sab, spam imperil after getting in the other debuffs, and heal when necessary.

Start with Saboteur/Commando to get his chain gauge started all while debuffing. As soon as you have deshell/imperil on him, OR as he starts walking to you, switch to Ravager/Sentinel and start casting magic (or if you didnt finish with debuffs, Sab/Sen). When you need healing use Med/Sen and if you have to restart the chain. Sab or Rav/Com. When Hechatoncheir uses Quake or in general deals heavy damage to both, just use Renew and then continue switching Rav or Sab/Sen or Med/Sen to heal.

it is easier if you use before the battle the items that make you start with shell, protect, haste and the offensive status, then you select the sab and com formation (vanille and fang respectively) and use deprotect and deshell, it is faster and easier; remember to recover when needed.

@HaloFreek44 another strategy is to start with any paradigm where Fang is an commando and then as she moves in to attack switch to a paradigm where she is a sentinel and dont switch her from a sentinel for the rest of the fight. the effect of this is that she has moved in close to hecatoncheir and will not only act as damage sponge but also lure him away from vanille (since his attacks can sometimes hit them both). it also gives Vanille many chances to heal Fang and drive up the gestalt gauge

this is one of the best games i have ever played, true the game is very linear in the main missions, but once you get to gran pulse your opened up to this whole new world with tons of side missions and exploring throughout, but than its back to linearity... none the less, this game is amazing, beautiful visuals, completely balanced and rather fun fighting system, and a pretty moving story once you get into it...

I DID IT!! It only took me 2:26! All you need is roughly 2500 hp and switch between Undermine(SAB/RAV) and Lifeguard(MED/SEN)!

I did this with both having 1500~ HP with 10 seconds left on Doom. I avoid grinding like a plague since I don't see the joy in spending hours doing it.

@mastertoastmaker you have to have vanille on sobateour and fang on sentinl switch to medic sentinel when needed dont use 2 sobatuers fang doesnt cast

Best way to start of is sab. commando. Fang will rush up to the edilon, then switch to sent., while vanny ravs from far away.

@gamebeware yeah I used the same technique you did only my health was bordering 3000-4000 as well. It would be a good idea for people to record these fights at lower levels so they dont feel so lost.

Dual Saboteur for me worked the best. Just make sure you change to Medic/Sentinel when he starts to glow yellow

I had Fang go commando for the start then when she was up to hecatoncheir, changed to safe guard. That was, the eidolon couldn't hinder vanille's attacks.

@Rockerbro3371 i was so mad at this boss but if you go to the settings menu and put it on slow, you should get it. thats how i did it and i had vanille as a sab and fang as a sen. once fang's health started getting low i switched vanille to a medic. just keep it between those two paradigms

@goodfellow408 ok, thanks for pointing that out, i'd never really used a saboteur before, so i wasnt in the habit of checking enemies' status immunites. i also never use fang :S

@Jamez8888 I'm pretty sure they just leveled up in Gran Pulse doing missions and what not. I avoided the missions and followed the compass instead. I understand I was amazed at how much health he had too!

I beat Hecatoncheir with 800 left on the doom counter using this strategy. Start the battle with the Slash and Burn paradigm and let Fang complete her SECOND batch of attacks. Then switch to Stumbling Block to let Fang protect the party as a sentinel. Switch back and forth between Stumbling Block and Arcane Defense (ravager + sentinel) the rest of the battle while occasionally stopping heal when necessary. Using this stategy this Eidolon is actually very easy to defeat.

Just finished it on like the 5th or 6th try... I used fortisol and agisol first make it a hell of a lot easier...

Did you fail to notice Fang just stands there when you use SAB/SAB? Wouldn't SAB/COM or SAB/SEN be a better idea?

@Jamez8888 Actually, I didn't do any training and just equiped items that boost my health. I was already 3000 and 3500 when i got here. It depends on which roles you upgraded. If you upgrad you com role, your strenght will go way up, if you have med role upgrade then your health will go up more then usual.

i definitely need to train my characters more. most of them are barely lvl 3 and none of them has more than 3000 health.

@Seraphicblood779 That's good advice. Yeah, I was spending too much time healing and not enough time getting his meter up. Finally I had to just go for it, letting Fang die, and then I barely got him.

The key to this fight I found is to use renew to heal as time is running out. You get the points for healing and switching to slash and burn lets you get the damage points

@Jamez8888 I don't train when i played this, i upgraded weapons to hell with the special x3 exp from the creature comforts and then dumping on perfect conductors all that increases health power and defense, i always had the main job i used at max because i never skipped a fight. I never went out of my way to get into a fight, but i didn't run around anything.

@Rockerbro3371 Never mind I got him you just need counter attacks for Fang's Sental role and a 4 ATB bars for Vanlie. First start with SAB/COM and debuff him while he's useing Looming Wrath then when he moves swich to SAB/SEN and keep useing poisen also make sure Vanlie has a Doctor's Code and a HELL of a lot of potions

I read somewhere that you shouldn't use Fang's SAB because the only debuffs she can learn (at least up to this point) don't work on Hecatoncheir.

I did this with like only 2000 hp on both Vanille and Fang, but it was not really that hard. Just keep the debuffs up on the "boss", use COM/RAV when he's doing that Looming Wrath thing and just before he just attacking again (should be easy to predict it) switch to any combination where Fang in a Sentinel. If she's low on hp, use a medic, obviously.

Its all how you play. If you want the big titans of rape health meters then more power to you. but i kinda would prefer the defensive and debuff abilties over the larger health.

@scaredsoldier If you've been upgrading weapons/Crystarium, easily. I don't upgrade weapons often, but all my people deal 1-5k damage per attack.

@Chuckalakala ... um chapter 12.. i think its at the end, just before u go into "orphans nest" ... i had 5,000 hp when fought this boss... and had about 7,000 when i fought the boss at the end off chapter 12 and had trouble... but still beat it with avg. health left

@skinner587 You nearly need 4000 health for vanille. If you grind at the right spot you can get that in around 2 hours or less.

@deathrocker616 my favorite place to grind, is on the Robots weak to lightning in the cave an area prior to this battle, I spam killed for about an hour and got Lightning up to 200,000 CP, just make sure lightning and Hope have Ravager high enough that they have high level Thundaga(Hope) and Thundara/Sparkstrike spells

@DarkRavenWolf50 They've deliberately only allowed Fang and Vanille to make it that much harder (bastards). Apart from Cid Raines and Orphan, this has to be one of the hardest fights in the game.

@Jamez8888 I, respectfully disagree. I am at that stat myself. i levelled up-at that point you should be at 4000 because you should be able to level up to level four. that definitely means having a high hp. also, its good to upgrade weapons and accessories which add at least 100 hp to your overall hp. as a side note, i am still not doing well with this battle, myself, so i'm not such a great player anyway. i think you could still beat it with 1k even-but you just have to be good.

@Brandonlw93 You can only go up to level 4, and honestly, it's hard getting there at this point. Try getting as close to 4 as you can. But, the strategy they used has a flaw in that Fang cannot debuff him as he is immune to all her debuffs. It was a close call for me, but I got it wasn't too hard to pull this off I found: Have Vanille have all her classes with Fang as a Sentinel and then all Vanille's classes with Fang as commando.

a) equip vanille with healers staff, tetra crown and entite ring. it doesnt matter if these items are only level 1, they will still help, as vanilles cure will heal more= less time healing, more time chaining. the accessories will save your life if hec decides to hit vanille b) if using sab/sab DO NOT USE LIBRA TILL THE END OF THE BATTLE, because fang will do nothing c) easiest way to kill him is using sab/sen, medic/sen when he is hitting you, and sab/com when he isnt. very easy battle this way

I used the Sab moves that use 3 atb points and it is so much easier and thats how i beat him in 2:55

Just so you know, Hecatoncheir is from Japan or northern (i don't remember well) mythologie, he is a god with 100 arms

I never realized it before I watched this video and they made that mousekateer comment, but Vanille does sound kind of like Minnie Mouse come to think of it. Side note: The most ridiculous thing I've heard Vanille saying during combat: "I'm not all smiles and sunshine!" That just sounds weird coming from anyone. Although I did get a chuckle out of it.

@MgNinja5 Yeah which is pretty much exactly the same as fighting it once and failing and getting taken to the paradigm menu. Only by fighting it once already you get an idea of the opponent and if I had managed to defeat it without the need of customized paradigms the feeling of success would be even greater. Not even attempting it first time and going straight for the paradigm menu just seems to be taking the easy way.

I found it easier using Ravager-Commando Medic-Commando Sabatuer-Commando Medic-Sentinel Start with Sabatuer combo, then when Eido attacks switch to MedSen for the whole attack. When Eido pauses, switch to MedCom unless you are both in good health in which case switch to RavCom. Whenever Eido attacks always switch back to MedSen, no exceptions. Also, cast some sols before the battle, namely give yourself haste. Without haste, yeah you'll have to overpower like the vid. Unfair Eido a-hole.

my vanille has like 6240 HP but thats just because i have a bunch of good bangles on her and i just took a lot of time letting minor enimies respawn and just kept defeating them over and over again. yall should try could take a while but trust me its worth it :)

I just got the game. Im impressed with the visuals and the game play is actually pretty fun. The game is VERY linear, prob the most linear game i have ever played. I can see why FF fans dont like this game as much as the previous ones. The story so far is pretty solid. a tad bit confusing at first, but as you progress it gets good. I would give it a try since its really cheap now :)

just keep vanille as SAB and fang as SEN. libra him and you'll only need to spam debuffs like they said. heal when need to you and you should be done in a few mins and with 5 stars :)

@Falevere ys ive been trainen for a few hours i know its bean days but i havent played it continuously and vanilles health: 4245 Fangs health 4130 but i have more cp for fang and im close to some hp k so now im gunna fight a couple more guys then ill get fang up to 4690

@devilsreign900 actually ive never had to grind during this game and all of the boss fights are pretty manageable. I suggest on Pulse you make use of the Sentinel role and otherwise just fight things blocking your path forward. You'll be back anyway. Don't sweat the treasure chests...orbs...whatever.

@RoughInazuma I killed 2 Behemoth Kings, with less than 3000 HP per character except Fang and Snow, the trick is to kill it before the stagger wears off and NOT LET HIM TRANSFORM
