Dean was done so dirty. Everyone hates on him for being jealous or whatever but at the end of the day he was right and both, Jess and Rory were wrong for that. While Jess doesn’t owe Dean anything it was beyond immoral to chase after someone in a relationship. But Rory was definitely infinitely worse than Jess to Rean

i'm team dean, i think the reason that dean got mad when jess was around was because he was insecure and was an over thinker. i relate to him a lot because i am a second choice and so was he. and no wonder he was an over thinker, SHE CHEATED, not only that but she did make him feel like a second choice. the day before his marriage with lindsey, he said and i quote "why doesnt she love me man" talking about rory, it was heartbreaking. he loved her, but she chose jess. i'm not saying that she didn't love dean. but she broke him, and when he was happy with lindsey, rory had to have an opinion on it. i love rory but she was in the wrong. and so was dean. (this is my opinion, i'm only on S4 E7)

I don't understand why everyone is trying to cancel dean. He wasn't perfect boyfriend and he wasn't right about lots of things but what rory did has no excuse. Also rorys character is soo annoying and she used to treat dean very badly.

I just finished this series after going through it slowly & I gotta say, I'm kinda confused at all the hate for Dean haha. This character was a 16yr old boy in his 1st relationship, dealing with 1) being told 'No, I'm not interested him I swear!' over & over while simultaneously being ignored, & 2) Jess continually breaking boundaries & trying to upset him, while making moves on Rory. He was a confused teen who thought he was going mad, right?! He was led on for months, so I can understand why he kept being clingy. I didn't expect Rory & Dean to stay together of course, but I sympathized with his character. Anyway, good video! (just needed a place to share my thoughts lol)

I'm really sorry for Dean. He has always been a very mature boy for his age, above all a hard worker ready to sacrifice himself for love. In the comments I read that he was not a good boyfriend because he was jealous: people, are we kidding? Any sane person would be jealous of Rory's behavior. I guess you are soooo happy that your partner is talking and dating people of the opposite sex without your knowledge, that he denies you the evidence by saying "She's just a friend", that he forgets about your dates, and so on, right? And like Rory did, you want to deny the evidence by accusing Dean of being paranoic, aggressive... Twice Rory made fun of Dean, twice. She plays at being the innocent saint, the one who never makes mistakes: the truth is that she likes transgressive guys and she doesn't want to admit it (it is clear that she is in love with Jess and Logan from the very first moment) just because she wants to keep playing innocent girl. Dean was just a pastime, a hole to fill, waiting to find the next "cool" guy (who play to be the "bad boy"). This is the truth.

I refuse to believe that season 1&2 Dean is the same as season 4 Dean. I couldn’t stand him in the later seasons, but he was done so dirty in the first few. Season 1&2 Dean doesn’t deserve al the hate, but season 4 Dean definitely does.

Since everyone is giving their opinion, I will too: 1. Dean really did love Rory, he was as close to a perfect first boyfriend anyone could have. He was caring and helped Rory through hard times. He tried to keep their relationship going for as long as he could. The night before his wedding when he was drunk, he confessed that he missed Rory and wished that she still loved him. You know that he was still heartbroken before marrying Lindsay, which was unfair towards her. However, he got angry really easily, and yelled at Rory A LOT. Also, even though he was married he still slept with Rory and basically blamed her when Lindsay found out. 2. Jess was manipulative and a total homewrecker. He knew that Rory and Dean were in a good relationship and yet he had to mess it up. When he and Rory got into a relationship he got very distant and closed off at times making it hard for Rory. However, he really did love Rory and you can tell that Rory felt the same way. They had a great connection together, they pushed each other to be a better person. 3. I'm only on season 4 episode 5, so I don't know Logans story very well. I do know that Logan treated Rory well and deserved more. 4. I don't know the full story on each of their relationships. Some of these things I just know from spoilers. These are just my opinions so don't attack me. However, feel free to leave a reply on what you think I didn't fully understand. Also I know this was really long, so if you read the whole thing thanks! *please excuse any spelling errors*

as much as i like dean but i honestly think that their relationship is toxic , jess is bad at making decisions and a troublemaker but idk rory smiled more when shes with jess but TEAM LOGAN/TRISTAN

Ok I just want to add my two cents, so just know this is how I look at it. Even though I don’t like Dean at all, I feel bad for him because in the end everything he was insecure about came true, HOWEVER I do believe that had he had Jess’ temperament when it came to matters regarding jealousy he may not have pushed Rory away as much as he did. Now I do believe Rory developed feelings beforehand although I’m inclined to believe she would been less likely to go to Jess had Dean moderated his jealousy more because then she may have stayed happy with Dean longer. I also think everyone always hates on Rory and there is a lot to be mad about, but sometimes I feel bad for her. I am an only child who in some cases was sheltered and while I would say I am probably much more self aware than Rory, I still have trouble with the sort of issues she does. For example, there is a selfish component of Rory from the beginning of the show in that she is used to living a certain way and being treated a certain way so when each of her boyfriends have challenged her she runs away or when she got arrested and quit Yale she ran away. I have felt that sort of feeling when I’ve been confronted, but I try to recognize as myself being stubborn to confront what’s in front of me. Although, there is a choice I will never understand that was made and that was when Rory slept with Dean while he was married and I truly believe the shows producers and writers were smoking something because Rory’s character from the beginning had selfish tendencies, but never something so dirty and extreme, the whole situation to me was so out of character and not thought out. Also I think people forget that disregarding the revival the timeline of Gilmore Girls places Rory at 16 up until around 21. Not to say any of her actions are justified, but it isn’t unusual to see this sort of indecisive and hormonal behavior from people of this age range and I really dislike that nobody seems to acknowledge this. Now I greatly disapprove of Rory’s choice to sleep with a married man, but it not only was a choice made by two people but two very young people who still are unsure of what they want in life and they made a massively hurtful mistake that costed them dearly, but that is a part of their life, that is a part of growing up and what I learnt from those experiences follows you. In the revival Dean appears happily and faithful married to someone he loves seemingly taking what he learned and harnessing it so that he may avoid his mistake last time. Rory, unfortunately on the other hand, did not cultivate a positive resolution from her experience as shown with Logan in the revival. All of this relative given the character and their willingness to concede certain parts of themselves they grown accustomed to. One thing I disliked about Gilmore Girls is that the writers took too much liberty with the characters for the sake of sensation. Rory’s affair with Dean was way off character for her as well as Dean, despite me not liking Dean I would assume he never would involve himself and a situation like that had he been a real person cause he never presented himself as such. Rory leaving Yale was also odd to a degree, the worst I thought would happen would be that her grades would slip not that she would drop out. I also never cared for the limited time dedicated to Rory and Jess. Despite whatever team you may be on, I always felt Jess had such a huge impact on Rory both positively and negatively. I don’t discount Dean or Logan or even Tristan, but Jess taught Rory an all encompassing love, one where your giddy every moment your with that person and that when their away your heart aches to the point you can’t breathe. He was the first one she considered having sex with for the first. He was the only one who ever trusted Rory completely even when she was proven to be a bit lacking on her honesty. Dean was possessive and insecure about everything and Logan was too selfish and childish about his grievances against her. (FYI this is kit necessarily true for the entire run of the show seeing as they do have character development, but if we are to look at the relationships as a whole the this is what I would conclude). Anyway that’s all I had to say. I just wanted to share what I thought about it. I find Gilmore Girls an interesting show to discuss with other fans because I have the different viewpoints and perspectives that seem to always arise especially regarding Rory’s relationships.
