Rory McIlroy calls for golf's 'Good Friday Agreement' after being locked out of LIV Golf talks!! what is next for golf now? how do we move forward? Are the PGA tour policy board making the right decisions for golf? Are they going back on the framework agreement? This is all speculation right now but Rory McIlroy has stepped down from the PGA tour Policy Board!
I Need to know your thoughts on this? Is this good for golf bad for golf? are the correct decisions for the future of the game of golf at the top being made right? Rory McIlroy left PGA Tour players' text chain after Jordan Spieth's LIV Golf remarks, Jay Monahan is running the PGA tour did this have anything to do with it?

I think Rory holding his ground and starting what he feels should be done is a good thing. The PGA golf board members may be afraid of having the LIV guys play with them because it could take money out of their pocket. I ' read another one of your readers say the PGA has become a beer of league. Didn't the PGA members just get a big payday? They want to protect their best interest instead of having world class competition. Their a bunch of rich freaking whiners.

Here is the problem with Rory, when the first group of guys went to the LIV tour he verbally berated everyone of the players for making a business decision that would finacially secure them and their families for the rest of their life. Something Rory, was already able to do for himself. Rory, instead of minding his own business, went on to start a crusade against these players and the LIV tour in the name of the PGA tour and felt that he was just as important to the tour as Tiger Woods. When the PGA tour made the decision to deal with the LIV tour behind the PGA tour players backs it made Rory look like a fool after saying everything he did on behalf of the PGA. The PGA tour used Rory and then threw him out on front street. Rory was infuriated that nobody called to notify him of the decision. He then quit the board and later softens his stance and tone on the LIV tour and players. Rory made himself look like a fool by continually bashing the players that left and then by acting like a woman scorned by the PGA tour. He only then changed his tone about LIV and now he wants to be a peacemaker after everything he said? Rory would be best served served by keeping his mouth shut and focusing on his game so maybe he could pull off a win in the near future. It's no wonder the players don't want him back on the board, 1. He reversed himself so many times how can you trust anything he says. 2. He has lost a ton of respect with fans and players alike based on his erratic behavior, acting like a spoiled rich kid instead of grown man.

Just my humble opinion: Rory was naive in the beginning, and due to the way he (and a handful of others on the PGAT) have been coddled by Jay, he probably thought Jay was a great guy and worth defending. He's had a HARD lesson in how the business world works, and his eyes have been opened. Basically, the deal with these new groups means the back-stabber Jay stays in charge, and basically answers to guys just like Jay himself. And both Jay and his cronies and bosses will be taking buttloads of profit off the backs of tour players like they've always done (which, obviously, the tour players had no idea prior just how much those leeches were skimming to begin with). Rory has enough golf skill to still be highly competitive with these newer golfers, and his name recognition means he'll continue to be taken care of by the PGAT handlers (think of PIP, for one). BUT Rory's also seen enough, and certainly heard with his own ears, how the have-nots on the tour have fared during all of this, and just MAYBE he realizes this whole deal stinks, even though he'll get his share. But only if he plays ball. Sure, Greg Norman has bosses in Saudia Arabia. The royalty in Saudi Arabia has made multitudes of cash selling oil. Some might say "blood money" because of how the regime is known for their human rights abuses. But of all the oil sold by all the countries in the middle east, Saudi Arabia has been the US' closest ally, outside of Israel. That counts for something, at least on the global scale. I'd rather be taking orders from a true legend like Greg Norman, knowing that his bosses' "blood money" is actually going to leave the middle east and come BACK to free countries like all these LIV golfers live in, rather than answer to a bunch of middle-men and back-room hidden parasites that probably support heaven-knows-what types of politics here in the US that basically just take money NOT because of their own golf skill, but because they've positioned themselves on the backs of true professional golfers. The PGAT and its players are basically crazy for not taking charge here. They (the players, because i think that's what the organization actually is) should dump all of the Jay Monahans in the organization, find a new team in marketing and support (for the sponsors sake) that will likely do the exact same job for a fraction of the price, and just make some sort of collective deal with LIV. I don't care what. Just something to end this nonsense. The thing that makes me the angriest about all of this is how bloodsuckers like Jay, and others that are not nor have ever been involved with the grind of daily professional golf that the pros deal with, are walking all over some of their own players and world renown legends like Greg Norman. Heck, the very name "Phil Mickelson" is like saying a bad word in PGAT circles. But a day before LIV came about, he was as well -respected as anyone in the golf world (maybe not with Jay, but certainly TV watchers and TV personalities). I don't recall a negative word being said about Phil outside of his known gambling addiction and trash-talking fellow players until this LIV thing blew up. I could understand the naivety at the beginning where so many fans sided with Jay because of the "tradition" of the PGA, but after he threw Rory under the bus and started talking with LIV like it was just another business deal, i just don't see how anyone in their right minds could be in support of anything he puts his hands on. How does Jay get his position? Who put him in the power position to make decisions to give a handful of biggest personalities left on the PGAT so much money, just for being popular? The very act of him doing this means people like Tiger, Jordan, etc. are basically paid off to fall in line and not say anything negative. And before you say Tiger has all the money he needs, well, I bet you won't see him refusing his cut or donating it to charity. I'm just saying the PGAT was originally made by the players on tour, and for the players. And now they've let outsiders come in, make decisions for them, and basically eating them out of house and home.

I may be a minority of one, but I've actually enjoyed the concept of all the world's best golfers NOT coming together on a week by week basis and only meeting in the majors. I know something would have to be done about making sure both tours had equal access to the majors and equal access to available prize money, but I don't think a merger should be an unquestioned goal.

I think it's time people start thinking like adults and see things as they are and not what they wish it to be. - LIV golfers have contracts. They can't just up and leave. If Golfer A got $100 mil for a 5-year contract and has only played 1 year, will he really pay back $80 mil to go play on the PGA tour? - The tours have different formats and LIV has a team element. - PGA made its bed when they accepted the SSG deal. How can anybody even expect Yasir to invest his "blood money" (what they called the PIF money) into PGA when LIV Golf is treated as it is? You can't have your bread buttered on both sides...PGA golfers made the decision to stay on PGA and now they should live with the consequences (and less money) or try to get a contract with LIV...easy as pie. - PGA has realized that their product is weaker without the top golfers that went to LIV. PGA has fewer viewers now. PGA won't be able to negotiate the same type of deals with advertisers, sponsors, and TV bosses now with those golfers not on their tour anymore. So they should also maybe start to accept that their role has diminished and beggars can't be choosers. The PGA needs LIV golfers....LIV doesn't need the PGA, LIV golfers just want to play in Majors. - LIV golfers can't just go and play on PGA events and the same goes for PGA golfers. The only thing in my mind that can happen is if the PGA and LIV negotiate events to be added in which the golfers from different tours can compete against each other. How: The Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup rotate. So I would suggest scrapping the Presidents Cup but not the team. Then you are left with the USA team, the European team, and the Presidents Cup team. Add a LIV team and the 4 teams can play against each other in a Ryder Cup-type tournament in a Round Robin at the end of the year to determine the winner. That would get enough viewers and push ratings. Maybe Yasir can be convinced to put up the money for such a tournament. - And lastly, the Majors should look at their criteria for invites. If the Majors can at least appear to be independent from PGA as they are supposed to be, and they invite the top 20/25 LIV golfers (excluding those with Major exemptions), the LIV fans might start supporting the majors again and this hate between the tours can start subsiding. The different tours should also have their own ranking system just like the PGA has the OWGR...and the Majors can use the tour's ranking to decide who they invite.

I am sick of the back and forth. The Pro game is not good right now, because all of the best players are not out there competing on the same course each week. All the PGA Tour is doing is putting the Korn Ferry players in front of us every week. It's sad what is happening. LIV has completely disrupted the game and it is only sustained because money doesn't matter.

Its gotten so fractured that even those that are on the table don’t get along. Let me try and keep this simple and more objective. Company A has been paying minimum wage for so many decades and now Company B is born and offers 4x the minimum wage. Anywhere in the world, workers will flock to the highest paying company for the same services. Unless the PGAT can compete with the money the players ought to get, comparable to those that have from a competitor LIV, it will not work. No matter what Jedi mind tricks they put on paper regarding equity share, unless they get the $, its a waste of time and PGA should raise the white flag and get terms with LIV to share the players. As Mac said in his Irish peace analogy, no one wins but peace for everyone.

I agree 100% with Golfzilla5000.....Jay Monahan is a 'self-absorbed' pre-Madonna who is the common denominator of negativity in this childish battle. He needs to be dismissed by the PGA players with immediate effect. Conversely, Greg Norman has conducted himself with decorum. He is a true legend who commands respect as a past champion golfer as well as for his amazing business acumen. The OWGR should be scrapped and replaced by a new 'workable' rating system that encompasses ALL golfers from ALL tours fairly.....not just the elite few players.

That you Greg Norman? You LIV'ers are clueless. Just finished watching the Wells Fargo which was anything but boring and the crowds were electric and with the typical 100 times larger than any LIV crap that no one is watching in person or on TV. Only thing keeping the LIV'ers going is $$-trillions-$$ of blood money that will never run out unless oil crashes or runs out. The best thing about LIV is it allowed the PGA to get rid of dead wood oddballs like Sergio, Pickleson, Reed, Poulter, and traitor double talkers like Koepka and Rahm. So glad these guys took the billions to play golf with no need to win or even do well. Also awesome to not have to watch that weasel with the mullet hair and his little Kiwi shirts from Australia disgracing beautiful American Golf Courses with his creepy presence.

This sounds like a case of Non-Buyers remorse. Now that Jon and Tyrell and other Ryder Cup stalwarts have moved to LIV, he wants some kind of "deal" that will get mommie and daddy back together again. What he really wants is for LIV to be dissolved, all the players moved back to the PGAT, AND, he wants all the PIF money moved there as well!! See, that's all you have to do to make us all happy again. In the meantime the 70 annointed PGAT members get to play in the Signature Events while the 86 B-team get the scraps. Who needs this guy on the Policy Board - what's he doing for the 86?

23 out of 26 PGA Tour sponsors, are directly connected to Saudi Money. Hence, why Greg Norman pointed that out, when the PGA Tour puppets and media, followed the blood money angle. The tour have been taking blood money for many years, before LIV was a dream. They stayed quiet about it then, but when the people funding the tour in a back handed way, become competitors for their gravy train power trip, they then go on the attack, even though they are deeply entrenched in that blood money. I hate the PGA Tour now, it has become a laughingstock, brought what was a good product, into disrepute, and is why Jay Monahan should be removed ASAP, plus all those connected with his power trip policies, they collectively, have damaged the PGA Tour for many years.

This has become a sh1t show, all because the PGA couldn't handle the heat. It's been coming for a long time because only about 15 players were making big money. If the PGA had just bitten the bullit a long time before LIV it would be a non-issue. Mickelson was an ignored warning. Now look, they ruined watching golf for me at least. I don't care about watching the same boring no-name leaderboard week after week.

So why are PGAT viewing numbers falling?. Why are sponsors getting out? Why all of a sudden the PGAT elevated the prize money for some events? 🤔🤔

@larsthuresson6703 interesting I did a little checking myself. LIV is carried on channel 7 and 7+ apparently in Australia. The event in Adelaide had 936,000 viewers on the Friday first round alone. That's just one of many ways to watch LIV golf around the world. I realize for the most part the haters are mostly American which I am one. We think we own golf and the PGA Tour is all there is in this world. That is rapidly changing. Enjoy...👍
