Rosatom will construct the first land-based SMR in Russia

Rosenergoatom obtained a license to construct the Yakutsk land-based SMR in the Ust-Yansky District of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The design of land-based SMR is based on the latest Russian technology - a water-cooled nuclear reactor RITM-200N, developed by adapting an advanced low-power facility of shipboard design for a ground-based NPP. Reactors of the RITM-200 series have been tested in the harsh Arctic conditions onboard the advanced Russian icebreakers and meet all post-Fukushima safety requirements for the modern NPP design. This is a compact modular power nuclear plant, featuring reduced construction time compared to large nuclear power plants.

Great! I saw that the construction licence has just been issued today. So happy for this project going ahead. It's really a hope of a game-changer to replace diesel-powered generators vastly used today for powering remote communities. I just don't get why you guys insist calling this the first land-based SMR in the world when China has already the HTR-PM operational, plus the ACP100 in advanced stage of construction.

HTR-PM реактор имеет мощность 240 мегаватт, что уже не делает есть "маленьким". У нас же планирует строительство реакторов мощностью 55 мегаватт.

you should, wind and solar are cool, but they are not gonna cut it for an industrial powerhouse, US should become industrial powerhouse again.

когда научитесь конкурировать по обогащению урана, когда научитесь строить АЭС по новым технологиям, тогда возможно и построите! а пока в США молодой и перспективный президент, у вас на бензоколонках будет топливо по 10 долларов за галлон! потому что Путин цены поднимает!

@@user-it6dh6cw8m Westinghouse продает реактор со свинцовым охлаждением и высокоскоростными нейтронами. Советские дизайнеры создали его для них. Мы, американцы, снова работаем над обогащением урана. Мы установили центрифужную линию Zipf и лазерное обогащение. Австралийцы создали лазерное обогащение, советские физики - систему Zipf. Хочет ли Путин править Соединенными Штатами? Многим американцам нравится Путин из-за его традиционных ценностей.
