Roseanne, I know exactly what you are going through. I said something to my daughter who is married to a black man who love who took offense to something I said. I never meant to offend her or her family but they now regard me as a racist. They have not spoken to me for 7 months. She is 50 years old and I raised her to treat everyone the way she wants to be treated. She chose to take offense when I didn't mean any.
