The common short version is PommES that's true, but the normal name would still be Pomm Frit similiar to the french pronounciation. But still a great video, though. For example in Latam they say "computadora" (US influence) where as in Spain it's "ordenador" (French influence) , "Celular" (Us influence) vs "Móvil" (uk influence maybe? dunno), "laptop" (US influence) vs "portátil" in Spain, etc. And this changes in each country, sometimes even by region 🤯😳. I'm sure it's the same between french speaking countries.

Why the Spanish call potatoes "Patatas". Here is the story. The Inca called potatoes "Papas". In Spanish Americas potatoes are called "Papas" which it the original Quechua name. But before getting to the Andes where potatoes originated from the Spanish arrived in the islands of the Caribbean. There they found a root crop which the natives called "Batata" (kind of like a sweet potato). In the Spanish Caribbean island its still eaten and called "Batata". Later on the Spanish got to the Andes and found the potato or the "Papa". Since the "Papa" kind of looked like the "Batata" it seems they started calling the "Papas" "Patatas".
