Honestly a lot of these can be more of how you grew up as well. I personally find it rude to have phones out when you're spending time with friends or family. I believe it's just common courtesy to put it away or at least on silent. Make the people you are with feel respected and loved. I’m American. I think the phone on the table thing depends because not everyone has the same kind of job. Sometimes people are off of work but on call or just on a lunch break. If my employers call me repeatedly for hours and I don’t answer they aren’t going to like it. If you leave the phone on the table and silence it then you will know if your employer calls you.,I typically have TWO phones. One personal I pay for and one for work that my employer pays for.

The 2 finger thing in UK. Historically during the hundred years war, the English archers would mockingly flash two fingers up at the french, as captured enemy archers would have their string fingers cut off in those days. Last century the same hand gesture meant up yours, as in up... well... yours. Winston Churchill used the same hand gesture when being photographed by the media, not knowing it's meaning. After finding out it's meaning, he flipped his hand the other way and the symbology of the gesture become known to represent V for victory. Pretty sure that during the 60's, the symbology of the same gesture became known to represent peace.

It's fascinating about that finger gesture because that's just the American peace sign. So here in the states, people do that gesture all the time. Both forward and backwards. And it doesn't mean anything offensive here. The only offensive gesture here is really the middle finger.

Selling fish in a suspicious way is a thing and relates to the salmon act of 1986. It is to do with selling or buying of salmon that has been caught illegally.
