And therein lies the beauty of KZfaq. I’m 66…fairly handy around the house, and until I watched this, I didn’t even know what the hell an oscillating saw was! You creating that template and cutting that long curved tenon….was truly pure woodworking artistic genius, Ross!! And I sincerely hope that you were able to put the remainder of that pew’s solid wood to good use!

Your intro made me chuckle, Ross. It was a treat to watch you work. You did a grand job, as always.

Ross, just an FYI. I have been woodworking for a few years, but because of you and a couple others on KZfaq I started doing furniture repair, restoring, and refinishing. One big takeaway I got from you is the oscillating tool. I bought one and use on almost every job now. Keep up the great work and thank you!

one of the best inventions ever , but still learn to use some hand tools .

@@rosstaylorwoodworking728 Agreed. The oscillating tool is something added to my tool chest, but at one time I was going to go all hand tools, so I bought many antiques and learned how to use them. Now I am what I call an integrationist (power and hand tools). I use the best tool for the job, but continue to be open to learning more. And your projects are teaching me. Keep doing great things!

Good grief, that's a long pew. Be darn near impossible today to find lumber that size. It is a beauty and you did not take away its character. Great job!!!

Looks great, man. My mom has a church pew in her house from a church her father founded in Richmond VA back in the 50's. Pretty cool.

You did I fine job and I know it’s up to the customer how much work goes into and how refinished it get, but I would of really like to see the seat refinished to where it was one color again. It’s sure a beautiful piece. I wonder how old it is I don’t think you said. Anyway, as always really nice job. Looking forward to more videos!

Nice job. Using the jigsaw was a lot safer than trying to make that type cut with a circular saw.

Great video, I can't find any smaller benches, so was wondering how I would go about doing this, it always helps to see someone else do it first. Thanks and great job!

Wow! Kudos to you! Figuring, elec saws creeps me out. Too dangerous- glad u handle them w/ precision. (?): Client wanted scratch marks to remain. I would have liked a mahogany stein w/ varnish top coat or polyurethaning ( if applicable-don’t know) just like dark warm colors. Love Mahogany. U sir are super prof. Thanks 4 video.

you did a very nice job, Ross. i assume the customer wanted to retain the original patina on the seat? if it were mine, i'd prefer the seat be redone to match the rest of the wood that didn't have much wear and tear, but to each his or her own. it's nice to see you back again. do you and your mother still have a resale booth? how is it doing?

Nice job Ross! Wonder if it would be worthwhile fabricating two replica endpieces to use with the leftover seat portion and _voilà!_ a second bench! 😁
@rosstaylorwoodworking728

that was part of the plan but the second bench was put off for now . i made a pattern of the ends i case they want to make the second bench
