First - great work as always, they look amazing and I love seeing your process. To your laser comments, *YES* you should get more ventilation on your laser exhaust. I worked in a shop where we were running a laser nearly constantly, mostly on plywood, and the smoke from that is nasty for both your shop (stains on the walls) and your health. There's both the wood itself and all the glue that holds the plywood together that's getting in the air. We were primarily etching, which puts off more smoke than cutting, but the health aspect is the same. It's also worth checking the exhaust hoses and pipes every once in a while as the glue can build up and constrict them, causing it to get out into the space more. Cleaning the attachment points is pretty easy and hoses can be replaced but, since the buildup mostly happens around the connection points, you may not have to do a lot of replacing.

Both look amazing. If you are looking into doing anything leather related with your laser, definitely do do after the vent if figured out. You'll see smoke but it also smells a bit like burned hair😅

You do some very cool stuff dude! A little tip for fitment gaps, glue on some edge-banding before you do you glue up to take up the gap all the way around the insert. Cheers!

Luv your work hands up great!! On your pours you need to torch the bubbles out after a few minutes let them come to the top torch again then let it cure. That would solve a lot of the bubble problems.

Another great project I’m so fascinated by your used to the skateboarders and the patterns you come up with. For your laser event there are 12 V fans that look like they go in computers or computer and stuff. You can get them up to 8 inches in diameter and just put it in the ductwork and let it suck at home through, just an idea I thought of it sitting on the couch watching you work. Have a good day.

I have a similar laser and rather than paying for “laser exhaust fan” I bought a bathroom exhaust fan, it is for 3 bathrooms, so much better at 10% the price. And no noise.

I wonder if you could laser off the graphic on the bottom of the board? Would probably need a final sand after, but it might not be as much work.

I followed this struggle on IG, so i know the pain you had with it. They both turned out great and I'm torn trying to pick a favorite. I love the geometric design with the trapezoids, but the fish scales look really cool too. Genius move laying out the parts like you did for the laser cutting. Maximize output and minimize waste. Awesome project! Hope you feel better soon and thanks for sharing!

How do you calculate the angle and length of the pieces of your border so when you round it over it fits your circle? I need to do this myself and I dont know how to calculate it.

A lot of waste because line could have been done once without nesting gaps. Can put the pattern on the pieces and remove overlapping lines.

Is it safe to laser epoxy??? I know that you need to be VERY careful what materials that you laser because it can create deadly fumes. I thought that it is NOT safe to laser epoxy resin and doing so can release hydrogen cynanide!!!
@ADBBuild
@ADBBuild Жыл бұрын
If it is actually epoxy and not polyester resin, then yes, it's possible that cutting it is creating HCN. It's probably a pretty small amount of epoxy though as it would only be a thin layer between the boards. Still something to think about though!

Please, please, please, invest in some PPE equipment. It’s extremely unsafe to handling uncurled resin(epoxy) without gloves and a filtration mask. Not to mention all that wood dust that collects in a wood shop. You should be using an n-95 mask anytime your creating substantial sawdust. Not only I am concerned for your personal health and safety here, but I am also concerned with how your casual treatment of safety protocols will affect your audience.I know that while many videos showcasing the process of building something are meant solely as entertainment and are not meant to serve as tutorials or examples, that many people use them as such anyway. And it seems pretty imprudent to not even include any disclaimers about what behaviours should not be modelled by viewers. I want to assure you that my comment is not meant in disrespect to you and your craft, but simply because I am finding it difficult to fully enjoy watching your video process without having constant concerns over your health and safety. Please take care. 🩷
