I got the same problem on my rapide cl2. In store they took some grease off from the hub. But i already got the chainstay all 3M'd up so no worry. And the bike in video is alu (Allez sprint), even less of a problem there.

I have a DT 240 EXP hub with the 54t ratchet as well and this is seriously loud. Well over 100 db when the mic is right next to it. Also the pitch is HIGH!

Also, he’s running on clinchers. So there’s no sealant flowing in the tire which may cause the wheel to be shaking

@@OompaLoompaCycling yep..you're right..the wheel needs NO balance..plus that wheel spin has a force which makes everything shake when your holding it..

@@VegasHyruler they are not too clever then. You absolutely should balance your wheel in that axis. Cannot believe after spending that much money the shop wouldn't balance it for you.

Free hub sound = telling people I'm not pedaling. How is it measurement of performance.

No one’s said anything about it being a “measure of performance.” But on that note, you do get better overall engagement for “no rest” training (it’s not just for mountain bikes) and if you’re cutting through MUPs, it’s more effective than a bell if you freewheel for a couple of seconds. Most people’s cycling is solo and doesn’t consist solely of group/social rides, so a loud hub isn’t some kind of macho broadcast 🤣. BUT, if “not pedaling” is something you’re mindful of and don’t want others to know when you aren’t putting in the work, I’d argue a loud freehub would make you LESS prone to not pedaling, because in a group on a longer ride, it can get really annoying to other riders when the one with the loud hub isn’t pedaling. All a matter of personal preference as far as I’m concerned, but I’d never make a judgment on someone with a quiet hub. Safe riding and enjoy your life!

@@VegasHyruler loud hubs are just annoying af to me . I hate things that doesn't make sense. People clean the grease out of the hub for that sound which has nothing to do with performance . That's when I'm getting at. U put extra effort to make your hub wear out faster from lack of grease just for the loud sound. Quick engagement is another Bs on road bike. You should catch the teeth on your hub on your corner exit stroke within split second.

@@djfung lol I haven’t put in any “extra effort to wear out my hub.” This hub ratchet has plenty of grease on it. I know because I installed it. And you can say the shorter engagement isn’t necessary for a road bike, but that’s just your opinion. I like having it.

*Singapore dollars. USD retail for the bike at the time it was released was around 6.8k (for the whole bike...Roval wheelset, Force gs, and Aerofly II bars). I feel like nobody factors in the details beyond the sticker price, just bEcAuSe iT's aLuMiNiUm durrr. Frame cost alone for the normal edition is still less than most decent carbon frames, and this one is a limited edition, so the cost is not all that outrageous to me.
