A very basic introduction of the complete rowing stroke for beginners and junior rowers. There are a lot of videos on youtube from non rowing backgrounds that do not effectively teach how to use an ergometer and the proper rowing sequence. This is one yet basic interpretation of how to row properly and effectively. This video features an actual rowing athlete from the 2016 Vic 8
00:36 -3:55 - Defining The Finish & The Catch
4:15- 4:58 - Defining The Drive & The Recovery
5:15- 10:42- The Rowing Sequence (Arms, Bodies, Legs)
Filmed in Melbourne, Australia
Rower: Lachie May

Great Video ! Drive = legs , body , arms Recovery = arms , body , legsVery easy to remember . Just started rowing a week ago in the gym , wasn't sure ; actually was pretty sure I wasn't doing it correctly. This helped greatly! Iam repeating the chant legs body arms , arms body legs as I row . Thanx !!

There is more. How to hold the handle lightly, how to keep the heels down, how to brace the back before the drive, how to breathe correctly at low and high rates. Rowing is a world inn itself.

@carynpdavies
@carynpdavies 4 жыл бұрын
Unless you have very flexible ankles, you will have to have a slight heel rise at the catch. Start driving through the balls of your feet, but try to get your heels down as soon as you can on the drive so that you can push through your heels at the end of the stroke.

how is the breathing pattern w the drive?
@carynpdavies
@carynpdavies 4 жыл бұрын
Diane Jordan it’s a good idea to breathe out while on the drive and in on the recovery, but there will be times when you need to breathe more often than that. Don’t think too hard about it, just make sure you’re breathing!

@0:03 There is RUST on the first 30 cm of the chain, what ?!? Place your rower on a surface that is even and LEVEL @11:30 you see the seat running forward on its own.
@willgoeke5027
@willgoeke5027 5 жыл бұрын
Even if it wasn't like that, it would still go forward on its own after the rower got off

Rust on the chain is normal. You don't usually have to clean it.
@ciceronx
@ciceronx 5 жыл бұрын
Eh, the chain should be oiled fairly regularly. If rust is building up, the chain isn't being properly maintained. That said, they could be using a 20w motor oil which can be brown in color, giving a rust-like appearance. The slide rail for this rower slants downward so yes, the seat will sit at the straps in an unused position.
