Farm Aid

11 жыл бұрын

Roy Orbison performs "Oh, Pretty Woman" live at the Farm Aid concert in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.
For more information about Farm Aid, visit: farmaid.org/youtube
Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do?

It was in Las Vegas, though, that Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley met for the last time. One night in December 1976, Orbison was closing his show at Caesar's Palace, when Presley suddenly came on stage. Elvis announced to the crowd that Roy Orbison was “quite simply, the greatest singer in the world.”

26 years ago? Damn, I feel so old. I am now 57 and grew up with the music that you grew up with - 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Some of the 90's were good but not like those 4 decades. Although I do like some of Green Day, mostly Wake Me When September Ends. I, also, like the Big Band era, especially Glenn Miller. And old, old country music like the Carter Family.

Thanks to KZfaq we get to see this Icon of pop music play one of the absolutely greatest songs ever written. We can even see the chords as he plays them! For some reason, this tune has been stuck in my psyche for at least a week, and so I am learning it on guitar. What other song so perfectly nails the experience of first seeing that special woman who just knocks you over?! . This is songwriting perfection. By the great Roy Orbison.

Absolutely one ofof the best versions of this great song by the ultimate singer that has ever lived. I saw Roy 4 months before his death in 1088 in Austin, Texas. The hair on the back of my neck shot straight up when he hit those unreal notes. When you hear a Roy Orbison song, you know immediately who is singing. Very few singers have ever had that ability. RIP Mr. Orbison, What a band Heaven must have. God loves music 'cause it projects joy. And Roy is the lead singer.
