Blue was there the whole night. Could be a offspring :-)
Info about the adults:
OGK (21 year old male) and YRK (25 year old female) are incubating a fertile egg laid on 14 November 2019.
Royal Cam is a 24-hour live stream of an albatross nest during the breeding season.

I heard that the Albatross can fly 11,000 miles without landing. Their brain is able to split sleep. Half of their brain sleeps while the other half is awake, and it switches back and forth during the long flight. Truely a remarkable beautiful creature.

These birds are rather intriguing. They are quite different. Their heads seem to scan and at a slow pace. The are not jerky in movement like other avians tend to be. It's amazing how they allow humans to come in close contact, nevertheless don't put up much of a fight. I love their many sounds for communication. The clicks and so on. They seem quite prehistoric in nature. I love being able to observe them and here on KZfaq. Thankyou for these very educational videos,b

Again fascinating how trusting they are. 🥰 The other bird didn‘t even complain much about being grabbed, aside from him struggling a bit from it probably being a little uncomfortable for him at first.

If you read the description the other is actually the dad and they're incubating together which is pretty common for both bird parents to stay with the eggs, the male either will watch the eggs for a bit for the female to get food or he will bring her food while she looks after the egg.

@@nekomimianimelover for albatrosses, the dad will incubate for longer periods as well, they go fishing for extended periods of time, in turns. Lovely birds

They rotate incubation and feeding, if female dies dad will still remain to feed the chick. There was another pair with female called grandma that has her last hatching at 61 years of age and she died in middle of that season, the young male 35 was the father who took care of her last baby before it's fledging.

Yeah they are under protection since they only breed once every 2 years and has to take care of their baby for 9 months! They got very slow breeding rate but very long life spans.

Btw it's only 1 egg per breeding season but they can still have babies into their 60s.

My wife and I are New Zealanders but we live at the other end of the country. Dunedin is in the South Island of NZ and we live way at the top, called the North Island. We were lucky enough to go visit the colony whilst there. We obviously didn't get close like this but we could view them from afar. So amazing.
