Here by popular demand is my Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 honest review! The viewer community asked me to do a Bullet Trials 500 review, so I borrowed one from Americas Motor Sports in Madison, TN to take for a quick ride and give my humble thoughts.
As far as doing a Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 ride and review, basically the motorcycle handles and rides very similar to a Royal Enfield Classic 500 or standard Bullet 500. The "trials replica" aspect is mostly just cosmetic differences and different pipes, more of a scrambler thank anything else, but it is cool!

Alex, imho you make a classic reviewing mistake: You can't imagine people who don't have the same priorities as you. This bike fills a unique niche in the market: There are 'retro' bikes; but nowhere else can you find a modern bike that looks (more or less) like a humble old non-Harley-ish machine. (And the non-Trials version looks even _more_ retro.) Of course there are much better deals to be had for performance! But there are _no_ other deals to be had for channeling this style of vintage. R.E. are _widening_ the market; hats off to 'em.

Whenever I park my Classic 500, I always get older blokes coming over for a look.. If I park it in a group of shiny Harley Davidsons, randoms will walk over and ogle my Enfield...

Oh dear - you completely missed the mark with this video old mate! Clearly you were too busy to do a even a skerrick of research on Royal Enfield's competition history. If you did, then you would have discovered the raison d'etre for this particular machine. Google 'International Six Day Trial' or, 'Scottish Six Day Trial' and you'll put yourself in the picture. A 'Trial' and 'Trials' are very different disciplines of motorcycle competition.

Replica of the old 1950s trials bikes, when courses were much less evolved than today-- scramblers back then were much more high speed things which evolved into motocross. Yes, overpriced now, much cheaper a few years ago - they were excellent gentle "green laners". I have had a few, back when the gears were on the "proper" side. Very tough bikes, easy to fix and pretty crash resistant but heavy and slow for enduro (hare and hounds) racing, but spot on for a gentle plod around Norfolk's Roman roads etc. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

You need to do some research and learn the difference between trail bike and trial bike.. Back in the 50's a trials event came from a reliability trial that manufacturers would enter a bike in to prove it's metal.. This first began in 1909 as the International six day trial, heard of ISDT.. It was a mixture of both on road and off road surfaces.. That bike is a replica of how a trials bike of the ear would have been, a striped down street bike..

@Eric Shepherd - yes indeed! As a kid in the 1960s I rode a used Triumph T20 Tiger Cub in trials, and rode it home, and to school and back too. I would have liked an Enfield 500! But apart from the money, I was a skinny kid and the lighter Cub was probably better. No ISDT for me, but we would trundle between the Trial stages on roads where appropriate, no great speed required! The skill was in completing the course.

Bought one in red frame and silver tank. Love it on the back roads and the simplicity of these bikes. Mine is the American version with the odometer in miles and km's are smaller. Very smooth ride with limited suspension travel. Power is only 27hp so don't expect huge power on the highways. If your just into funky casual bikes, try one out, what have you got to lose. Thanks for the great video.

Totally agree. It's a cosmetic nod of the trials theme. A repackaging of the classic 500. ABS is a European euro 4 requirement so I guess it's more cost effective to build the one model for all markets? Very expensive over ther. It's a good £1000 cheaper than the interceptor in the UK. Gorgeous colour scheme though and the last of the 500s.

I have a 2013 RE B5 Bullet 500. I bought it new. It now has just over 21,000 miles on it, and still runs like new. Actually better than new. The EFI it came with was horrible. I converted it over to an Amal Concentric MK1 carburetor from that awful EFI within the first week I had it, using a kit from Hitchcocks in the UK. I also replaced that huge, heavy torpedo exhaust, which has a cat con in it, with a much smaller and lighter Triumph "peashooter" style. Its sweet spot is around 55-60 mph. It will go faster, but you lose that wonderful sound and feel of the long stroke single. It is purely a recreational bike. It is not just pretending to be a vintage bike, it's the real thing. It would have been nice if they had painted the frame silver too, instead of that awful puke green, but it is still a million times better than the flat black thing almost all motorcycles have gotten into. If it were mine, I would strip it down and have the frame powder coated silver. I would also put a carburetor on it.

My Classic 500 Desert Storm looks pretty much like that one.. I took off the rear seat and put a rack on, and came standard with the exact same tyres.. Oh, and I fitted the trials bars.. Oh, and regarding the Trials thing.. It's a copy of the trials bike from the 50s.. Also.. Your comment of ABS on a 500 single.. So??? I also own a '06 BMW F650GS its fitted with ABS also and is a godsend in the wet.. So many times, I could have locked up the brakes while braking downhill in the wet, and the ABS has saved my bacon.. Sane with my RE500C, the ABS isn't like modern bikes, but it's there and does the job as well as can be expected.. The more I ride it, the more Im loving it.. You can't be comparing a Classic 500 against anything modern.. It's basically a brand new 60 year old bike.. It's almost like jumping in a time machine and zipping back in time and pinching your grand dads bike and whisking it into the future.. I love the way mine feels like a 250cc in some ways.. Easy to steer, light clutch, and balances like a Honda CT110 postie bike (from Australia).. Oh.. and I'm getting an average of 33km/litre.. There's one really annoying thing about it though.. Adusting the damn chain.. It's the weirdest thing.. It has two axle nuts.. One for the axle and one for the sprocket carrier.. 3 months later, and I'm still confused about how it's supposed to be done.. Normally, it's - loosen the axle nut, turn the adjusters equally on each side, tighten the axle nut and nip up the chain adjusters, and tighten the lock nuts. The RE is totally confusing.. When you loosen the axle nuts, the adjuster plates get loose.. Then I get befuddled.. 🤔 How does it work - and RE owners out there that can shed some light on chain adjustment for an idiot?? Edit: It's now two years later.. I've worked out how to adjust the chain (yay me!!) I've had other riders tell me the original OEM Ceat tyres are rubbish.. I just clocked over 21,500km, and I'm still on the original tyres.. The rear has a 2" wide bald strip up the middle, but the front still looks brand new.. I can't work that one out.. I'll probably get at least another 10,000 km out of it.. I changed the original muffler and header pipe and changed the air filter to a DNA. Now I'm getting slightly better fuel economy - 35km/ltr...

Now post dirt bikes, dual sports, adv/trails bikes, this is just a joke. Calling it a "replica" and hoping to grab your money shouldn't be respected. Their Himalayan is a bullet-proof cheap Adv/Trials/Trails/Touring bike and its costs 10-20% less in most markets, depending on were you are.

It is a silly price and a odd bike to sell the Himalayan (do you get that model in the USA) is both better equipped for the task and costs less in the UK. In the UK there is talk of the bullet based bikes being discontinued with RE just selling the 650’s and the Himalayan 500 . @John Lightfoot I did see your last post. I am looking at bikes on craigslist and websites of local dealers everyday. I haven't found the right bike If I found something that really got my attention I would spend up to $3000. Today I went to a Royal Enfield dealer and sat on both the Continental GT and the Int. The continental is definitely the bike for me. I might consider a single cylinder 500 for the right price. It seems there are a lot of cruisers near me like HOnda shadows in the 2500 price range. I really want something fuel injected.

Alex, lots of words and hand gestures but no riding. How can review a bike if all you do is look at it?
