I have round about 1500 km on my meteor and all without problems. Most of the km my wife was on the back seat, so also with more wight, we had no problems. And the consumbtion of the fuel is really low. If I have some mistakes in writing, excause me. I am from Germany and I am not perfect in your language.

OMR, I LOVE my Meteor 350! I've owned multiple bikes before this one, including a 1999 Kawasaki ZRX1100, so I'm no stranger to larger bikes. You know what? This is about the BEST BIKE I've ever owned! It does what I want a bike to do, and it does so very cost effectively. As a retired guy, I have to think about money and be careful with it; the Meteor helps me do that while allowing me to have fun on two wheels. Plus, it's GORGEOUS! The fuel economy is AWESOME! We had a Italian food festival where I live, so the downtown traffic was crawling at walking speed. I forgot about the festival, so I got stuck in it. Even so, when I filled up later, my mileage was in the low 60s-IN SPITE of crawling around for a while in first gear. Otherwise, my mileage has been similar to yours. I forgot that I had my first service coming up, so I filled the tank when didn't want to; it's taken me longer to burn off the fuel than I'd like, but that's only because I have to remove the tank to access the valves. Other than that, with the price of fuel being what it is (and likely to go up), I like how this bike sips gas. I thought my old Honda Helix got good mileage (low-mid 70s), but it can't hold a CANDLE to the Meteor! I've owned a thumper before; it was a 1982 Honda FT500 Ascot. Man, did that thing VIBRATE! It was a fun bike for short local rides, but anything longer than an hour, you felt it; you were fatigued. The Meteor doesn't really vibrate; props to the RE engineers for pretty much eliminating vibration on this machine. As for me, I don't know if the rear brake is spongy as much as engaging a bit later than the front does. It took a bit to figure out how to coordinate my braking on this bike, but I have it figured out now. As you said, it's no deal breaker. Anyway, I like my Meteor so much that, when Spring rolls around, I'm hoping to take it on a road trip to see my brother in FL! I've plotted out 2-3 routes that will keep me off the Interstates. I'll have to hop on for short 5-10 mile stretches where the US highway overlaps the Interstate, but the Meteor can manage that; it's just spending all day on the slab that the Meteor wouldn't like. But for short stretches? Yes, it can. I know I mentioned before that this bike is gorgeous, but it is. When I have it sitting in my house downstairs, I'll sometimes go and sit on it... :) It's been a long time since I've felt that way about a bike... :) There's only one other niggle I have about the Meteor: the total lack of space on it. Shoot, it's hard to even carry my insurance and registration on it! I thought my old Kawsaki W650 was bad, but it least it had a flip up seat with a small, plastic compartment to accomodate the vehicle paperwork; the Meteor doesn't have that. So, I stuff it in with the tool kit. Anyway, I like my Meteor so much that, if my finances permit, I'm going to get the RE Classic 350 when it comes to the US next year. Talk about a GORGEOUS BIKE-WOW! I wanted to get the Classic 500 when it was still brought here, but I didn't; RE stopped selling it here sooner than I thought they would. They brought the Bullet here for decades, so I thought that they'd do the same with Classic 500. They didn't. You snooze, you lose, right? Not this time! The Classic 350 not only looks like the old Classic 500; it shares the same engine, brakes, and frame with the Meteor. The engine is brushed aluminum vs. the matte black of the Meteor, but it's the same, sweet gem of an engine. Anyway, I WON'T make the same mistake twice!

I just reached 150 miles on the Fireball Yellow Meteor I bought about two weeks ago (miles would be higher if I didn't have to update a bathroom in our house!) and I'm loving it! Hey Ronin thanks for the honest review! We Indians love Royal Enfields so much because its so cost effective than any other place(the reason is that they are manufactured here so no import duties). It costs about $3400 American Dollars! Compared to other bikes, that's a great value for money!

Thanks for your review of this motorcycle. Full disclosure, I'm a Meteor owner, and it's very nice to hear such enthusiasm from an experienced rider for a smaller bike. Watching motorcycle accident videos on KZfaq it's pretty clear to me that many people ride 'more bike' than their limited experience warrants. I'm sure you'd agree that bigger is not always better when it comes to motorcycle performance and top speed.

Hi mate. It's nice to hear that you might own one of these. My last comment to you was my suprise that it wasn't yours and that you were going to give it back. This is the first bike I have ridden for a couple of years, and it's beautiful, and yes miles of smiles. Also I love the Royal Enfield history, how it became developed in India alongside those in England, then continuing when the English company went bust. Now these bikes are being co developed here in England again. Royal Enfield have, and have had a fabulous Indian/ English relationship (for a change), with this brand keeping Royal Enfield alive for 120 continuous years. Beautiful.

I stumbled across your channel while researching these bikes and because of your videos, I bought one for my wife's first bike. I have a slightly bigger bike (Honda CB500F) but this thing really grows on you. The first thing I noticed is the lack of power but it is just a ton of fun to ride. Very flickable with really good manners. Just an astounding bike all around.

Great video, I appreciate you being open to different brands and smaller displacement bikes. So often it seems that many people on KZfaq feel that unless it's a 1,000cc's it's not worth their time. But I have seen two people on KZfaq that drove 2- 125cc scooters across the United States. Another time I saw two men ride 2 Honda Monkees to the tip of South America, from the US. Smaller displacement are much more versatile than many people realize. Thanks for making great videos.

Thanks for this review! I‘ve only just ridden my Meteor 10% of your 1000 miles - but I fell in love almost immediately 😻. Miles of smiles - I could not put it any better. Especially the handling is a miracle, followed by the tip and toe gear shifter (wich I‘m still practicing, but catching up really fast). RE, you did it! (and of course the lack of fuel consumption is a plus indeed) 😎

Great video, and I like how you emphasize how it makes you feel. I was inspired by your vids, traded my '94 Magna on one in Fireball Yellow, and am loving it so far! The Magna was a powerful bike, so took a bit of getting used to the change in power. But as someone else said - it's much more fun riding a "slow" bike "fast" then a "fast" bike "slow" lol. And the handling is awesome. You are so right about the feel - the sound, the look, the handling - it just feels good. And at 80 MPG, what's not to love? Lol. Thanks for the great vids!

Hey Ronin… A great review!! Loved it!! Coming to the only negative you have…the spongy brakes… I feel Royal Enfield brakes have always been a bit spongy… I guess it was a design choice when you consider the older Bullets but I agree it should be a bit more stout🙂 What we need to keep in mind is that Royal Enfields are counted in the heavy segment here in India so the mindset here has been set as such…😁 I bought a Meteor last month and am planning to do some mile munching myself 😉 Keep Riding man👍 - A new fan of your content…

I have a 2013 Royal Enfield B5 Bullet that I bought new and converted from EFI to an Amal carburetor using a kit from Hitchcocks in the UK. I also put an aftermarket exhaust on it. It's a really fun ride at around 55 mph. It has a really long stroke engine, and when running at low rpms, it just goes thump thump thump down the road. Very relaxing. If you try going much faster it starts to vibrate a lot and sounds like it is about to fly apart. Unfortunately riding it at 55 mph can be dangerous. Most of the rural roads where I'm at have a 65 mph speed limit, and most traffic goes 75 mph. I was really thinking about getting a Meteor Supernova. They cost over $6500 OTD in my area. That is the case with pretty much any new bike. Dealers in my area tend to add $1500-$2000 in bogus fees to a new bike. But after watching a lot of videos, and asking some questions on the Classic Motorworks forum, I found that the Meteor may just be too slow. I have a 2016 Honda Rebel 250 (2016 was the last year for the REAL Honda Rebel) and I bought it OTD for under MSRP from a dealer who had a warehouse full of them and had to get rid of the quickly to make room for new models. I bought my first new Rebel 250 in 1985, which was the first year. I've also had a used 2001 and 2004. I just love the Rebel. But at 6' 240 I am a bit big for them. I can fix that part by getting more forward bars and brackets that move the pegs and foot controls about 5" forward. But there is still another issue, and that is tube type tires. The Rebel does not have a centerstand, and it is simply impossible to repair a flat out on the road. It has a huge rear tire for such a small bike, and they are hard enough to change at home with a lift and all the tools. So I was seriously thinking about replacing it with a Meteor. It fits me much better, and has tubeless tires. But believe it or not, the Rebel outruns it. Even though the Meteor engine is 100cc larger, they both make the same hp. And the Rebel, being a twin, has a much higher redline. About 3000 rpm higher. I have ridden them for hours at the time on the freeway at full throttle, 80 mph GPS. They handle it just fine. I was told that I should not try to ride the Meteor above 65 mph. The Rebel also has the advantage (for me) of being carbureted and no ABS. So I'm kind of on the fence about what to do. I have larger bikes for freeway riding, but it seems the Meteor might have a hard time dealing with local roads. But I really do need the tubeless tires, and I love the style. I have to stay fairly close to home on the Rebel, as it would have to be towed because of a flat tire. So I have to stay within the towing limit of my roadside assistance plan.

I really enjoyed the review. Fell in love with this bike, especially since it's price is cheap. Was planning on it being my very first bike. But unfortunately, since I do plan on commuting in the city, it might not be the best bike for that. So many people have said not to go over 70 mph. Which is not really convenient for me, especially on highways. Such a beautiful bike. One day I might get it when I'm older. 😁

hello mr...yes you are absolutely right about the rear brake it is spangy becouse when we press the brake it slow down the speed but doesn't stop the bike.to stop we have to press little harder..well i think its becouse of design but company must do something about it..I have the old 350 royalenfild thandarbird 2016 make n meteor 350 is the uper version of thandarbird...

Great series on the Meteor. I'm a big fan of small displacement bikes. I live at the base of the north Georgia mountains and love riding through them. My last couple of small bikes had issues with maintaining speed uphill. Any experience with that?

1 thru 4th gear the low end torque should pull you thru. 5th gear is a little too high and you'll need to down shift on hills, but I find that common among small engined bikes

landed up here because I'm looking for buying one for my iron lady too. Rear breaks. I read it somewhere, Royal Enfield research revealed that Indians use rear breaks primarily hence they were designed that way. Not sure about how the rest of the world uses it though. :)

Thanks for the great review, Ronin. I was seriously considering this for my first bike this year but decided on a Kawasaki Z400. Since it’s my first ever motorcycle I guess I have to get my crotch rocket phase out of my system 🙂. I would seriously look at a Royal Enfield when I get a little older and a Transformer looking bike really won’t appeal to me anymore.

I'm seriously considering a z400. How do you like it? The Meteor 350 holds a LOT of appeal for me, but the z400 is so much lighter & more powerful. Please let me know about your experience with the z400! (Thanks for any input that you can provide. It's appreciated!)
@MrSpeed-lt8gr
@MrSpeed-lt8gr Жыл бұрын
@@sissydreams7494 I really enjoy the Z. It maneuvers nicely. It’s lightweight at 363 pounds. And I think it has more power than I’ll ever need. I was on the freeway today going 75 miles per hour and it was running smooth and not feeling sketchy. Part of me wishes I got the Royal Enfield because of its looks. But I really get a lot of joy out of riding the Z400. You may want to replace the stock seat. It’s a little stiff. But other than that it’s great.

@@MrSpeed-lt8gr Thanks for your feedback! I'm really glad that the z400 is working out well for you. What are you typically getting for gas mileage and how far can you comfortably go on a tank? The one huge benefit of the Meteor seems to be the gas mileage; however, the z400 seems to be a much more capable bike. If I get a z400, I'd probably put a Leo Vince LV10 pipe on, but I"m guessing that mpg would suffer.

I've watched several of your videos, and a lot of them about the Meteor 350. You had better be careful, you may own Harleys and Triumphs and even a RE Himalayan, but it sounds like the Meteor is your favorite. That's really something considering it costs less than five grand. And all the good things you say about it, economical to run, economical to service, great handling, even two up, miles of smiles ect.ect. Hi, I was set on an interceptor, I took a test ride of around 2 hours, it's a great bike. When I got back to the dealership I noticed a little black meteor in the corner, I had never heard of them. The guy said take it out if you like, I did and I rode again for around 2 hours and I prefer it to the interceptor. I bought it on the spot. Delivery time was 4 months which suited me in the UK as it would have been spring time, but it was delivered unexpected on the 12 January, so I have been doing some cold weather riding and I love it. It's such an awesome bike, I'm 64 years old and I have had hundreds of bikes, but this must rank up there with my Honda cub 😊 good luck with your choice

I did test drive one and it's no bike for me, my back started to hurt after only 5 minutes of driving. It's the seating position on the Meteor. This week I will get my new one a Triumph Trident 660, test drive that one a month ago and really liked it. It's 10 kg lighter that the Meteor and will go a bit faster. I will keep the Yamaha 1000cc bikes I have and the 125cc one. I have enough room to put them. I am intrigued about the new classic with the engine of the Meteor and will test drive that one, seems to be an interesting bike.

Like any bike one needs to sit on one to determine how it fits. Not meaning to presume here as your question is directed to Jeff but he did a two up ride with his lady at a total weight of nearly 400 lbs. I currently own an UM Renegade Commando 300 (it's actually 285 CC tho), and I was looking for a cruiser around 600 CC, but can't find anything new close to that CC, so I've been thinking about just going for this 350... seems to be a very relaible cruiser. What do you think? is it worth going from 285 to 349 CC, or should I just keep looking for a 600 CC or a Honda Shadow 900 (if I could afford it)?
