r/Entitledparents The lady in today's video is absolutely bonkers! She gets angry that kids are interrupting her swimming in a public pool. So, she does the only logical thing: she tries to murder one of the kids who's playing in her lane. Makes sense, right? Luckily, OP was on lifeguard duty and was there to stop her in time! The story of the EK’s point of view I don’t blame them. The mom encouraged them and they couldn’t haven’t known it was bad. The mom on the other hand is terrible. You don’t just break in someone’s pool and then try to make them seem in the wrong.

The attempted drowning really hits me hard because I was also nearly drowned by someone older than me when I was about 5-7. I was living in an apartment in Florida at the time and I decided to go down to my apartments pool. It was a really nice pool, like 8-10 feet deep at the deep end, nice and big with plenty of space for everyone. I was a weird kid and for reasons still unknown to me I always liked to carefully walk along the edge of the pool for a couple laps before getting in. Now today apparently there were some older girls also walking around the pool (but like normal people not like I was). I was minding my own business when one of them turned around glaring at me and told me "stop following us you little twerp" I blinked in confusion and just said I wasn't following them and went back to my weird little routine. (I should note that even at a young I was an excellent swimmer, didn't ever needs floaties, fast learner type.) A minute or so later I hear an exasperated scream from in front of me, I didn't see it happen but apparently the girl turned back around, only to violently shove me back first into the pool. I was shocked and started flailing, scared and confused. To me it seemed like I was in there forever, but in reality I was quickly rescued by a lady who saw it all go down and promptly brought me home, holding me while I cried and comforting me. I'm positive that if it wasn't for her I'd have faired far worse that day. And I don't even know her name. feel like crap for not knowing

Re: The kid with pneumonia. "The nebulizer makes some noise and the side effect is hyperactivity..." Yep! As a recent heart attack survivor (who now has congestive heart failure) those nebulizers are noisy and are used to administer albuterol to open up the lungs. Albuterol is a stimulant. After a nebulizer session when I was in the hospital, my heart would start racing.

I’m pretty sure most pools have an “adult swim” period. They have kids get out for about 15 or so minutes and let the adults swim alone if they so choose. The pool I go to calls these “safety breaks”. Karen could’ve just waited for one of those if that pool had them.

When i come back to my table i see a old woman yanking my chair away while my mother trys to take it back. Her excuse was "nobody was sitting there, and I need it!" My family has 7 members in it btw. My grandmother, whom I dearly care for - note to self, call her to check up on her - makes quilts and other things with her friends - all us grandkids have quilts decorated in things we like. Personally, mine is one of two blankets on my bed. Anyways, I have autism, and I've been a guest speaker at a walk that supports awareness for autism for the past ten years (with my mother always there), and after more than a bit of asking, and schedule checking, she finally started coming to them, and I got my older brother to come to the previous one, and *finally* got my father to come to our most recent walk (you'll have no idea on how surprised, and happy, I was to see that man *finally* make it.) Well, this year, she (and her friends) made a puzzle-piece quilt - if you know anything about autism, the puzzle piece is very important - and it was lovely (was expecting holes in the shapes of puzzle pieces, but still, I was happy) and it was auctioned off at the walk - we have a raffle, 50-50, and a Sweets Auction - and I talked a bit about how my grandmother had made it, and I jokingly said it was a "poor" example of her work (it wasn't), and before I even got to the asking price (like $125), out comes a bid of $300. It sold for $350 after a quick bidding war. Now, mind you, the way this auction ran was Cash or Check. The fact that at one glance, they knew that this item was worth over the minimum asking price and more than doubled it, is telling. Also, over the summer I had gathered the berries I'd grown, frozen them, and my grandmother managed to make 4 pies out of them (a mixture of blueberries, black raspberry, red raspberry, and a small amount of other berries) that sold altogether for about $200 - and one was given to me. My grandmother makes very good pies.

It's crazy to me that people bring their kids to the ER when they obviously aren't even sick, I've noticed this in a lot of stories & even have friends who went to the ER over something super minor. I think it's just that I grew up with a nurse for a mother & she knows what she's doing. I've had times when I was obviously very sick, puking, trouble breathing, coughing, fever, the works, & my mom would just get some medicine down in me & have me sleep. When I hear one of my friends say they went to the ER for a stuffy nose, I'm just like uhh what? The ER is the last place I want to be if I feel a cold coming on because if I'm starting to get sick, I don't want to be exposed to other illnesses. Like I said, my mom was a nurse, she was a ER nurse actually & she's brought home many bugs, I got sick a lot as a kid. I actually have gone to the hospital a lot as a kid, not for myself but there's the fact that both of my parents are the youngest siblings in their families so I've spent a lot of time visiting sick relatives, even my dad who got this nasty infection when I was 8 years old & was admitted, he has a 2 month long hospital stay & nearly died, so thankful he made it through. I know about courtesy with sharing a room with other people, visited plenty of sick relatives who were sharing a room with others through my life so I know to be quiet & respectful. Actually, hospitals don't like you using your technology since it messes with their systems so that entitled brat watching videos while being in the ER could cause trouble. Last time I spent time in a hospital visiting a sick relative was late 2015/beginning of 2016 so late December/early January. I actually didn't have a smartphone at the time, still was using a flip phone because I'm stubborn about upgrading but I did get my first smartphone (still using the same one) in February 2016. I left my phone completely off (didn't do much anyways), didn't bring my DS or 3DS with me, I brought a book for when we were forced to be in the waiting room but when visiting with my dying grandpa, I didn't even have the book out, I mostly just talked with him best that I could, he was out of it. Actually, Christmas 2015, he barricaded himself in his room at this facility he was staying in, shouting something about taking a bus back to Yakima (where he use to live, he was living in Oregon from 2007-2016) & was convinced that the employees working there were out to get him. They had to call the police. All of his service in the Navy probably made the situation worse, I only heard about it over the phone. So yeah, he wasn't really there at all but I still was respectful when seeing him. Granted, I was 24 at the time & had manners, I get that a tiny constipated child wouldn't but those parents man, you'd think that they would know to have better manners. Your world revolves around your child but everyone else's doesn't, you need to know & respect this & be mindful for the others who are in a worse situation.

When I was 19, I had pneumonia. My dad was in Spain (we had to convince him not to come back early because it was a break he needed for his mental health) and my mum had to work and look after my younger sister (15 at the time). They would visit and call when they could but most of the time I was on my own on the ward. A little background, I have anxiety and so hugging or holding onto something makes me feel better so my mum brought in one of my teddies from home. Now, the EW of this story is in the bed next to me and never had any visitors (can't imagine why). She would constantly bully and tease me for having my teddies, calling me a baby, and would complain loudly whenever I would cough or was on the phone to my dad (which was the only contact with family I would have before about 5pm). Eventually, the doctors and nurses saw just how upset she was making me and moved me to a private room. I know that people get cranky when they're sick but come on now!

As a lifeguard, we have two different types of swims at the pool where I work. We have family swim, where we leave the lane lines in, and public swim when we take the lane lines out. During family swim of course kids will try to come and swim over or under the lane lines while people are using them. I usually am able to get the kids attention and tell them “there’s someone swimming here. Don’t go through the lane lines” and that’s the end of it. Public swim, no lines, no worries. Right? WRONG! We have a grumpy grandpa who acts like the lane lines are his alone whenever he comes in. Even when we have the lines out, he’ll still swim in the lap lane area and complains about the kids who are jumping from the side. PS: the kids wait for him to pass, so they don’t jump in front of him or on him.

I really thought there would be SOME twist to the "Karen drowns child" title. Like, she damaged someone's floating aid, didn't tell a kid that the water gets deep, SOMETHING like that. I didn't expect her to literally try and murder a child in a public pool around a hundred witnesses.
@Bloojaygay

Lifeguard here! There’s usually several hours of adult swim before the pool opens to children! Also, to be fair, children are not meant to cross through the lap lanes to get somewhere. Still, her reaction was way too crazy, and that would lead to a report, at the very least. drowning means the guard jumps in. Drowning purposefully caused means cops get called

As a lifeguard I can actually back that story, we get a lot of very selfish people in swimming pools, I was talking to my TA (trainer assessor) and she was teaching in a pool at about 8 am where there was a spinal injury (someone has damaged their spinal cord or neck) and this old guy refused to get out of the pool, any motion to the casualty could do permanent damage or even kill them. And this old guy refused to leave saying “I’ve paid for this” and “you have no power to remove me” and when he finally got out the pool he kept complaining saying “when can I get back in the pool” that pool remained closed the rest of the day because the casualty had accidentally crapped themselves when they injured themselves

These stories were infuriating, the Karen that tried to drown a kid is a complete monster and the entitled parents in the ER are both terrible people... I can't help but continue listening to rSlash but some of the posts make my blood boil and my blood pressure spike, I've been to the ER several times with real issues that required immediate attention and if someone came in complaining about constipation I'd throw them a suppository and tell them to get out so people that actually need to be there can get the help they require.

Some old lady tried to drown me once at the pool. I was there for my 7th(?) birthday party and it was one of those pools with slides and a rapids that had a bridge going over the top. I LOVED swimming, especially going underwater in the rapids because I liked the feeling of going extra fast as the currents pushed me around. I was doing this by myself for a while whilst my friends who weren't confident swimmers were in the main area and my parents were watching them knowing I could handle myself just fine. As I was going around, suddenly a hand grabbed onto my foot and yanked me underwater and held me there. I can't remember how long she held me for, but it felt like forever and my little 7 year old self was just trying my best to get away in a part of the pool where I couldn't even touch the floor. Eventually, she let go, grabbed my arm and told me 'If you ever splash me again, I won't let go'. I don't know why the life guard didn't get involved, maybe they just didn't see, but I immediately left the rapids to join my friends and my parents and I didn't say a word of what happened to any of them. It was horrible, and I was terrified of swimming in public places for a long time after that. Even now, I get anxious doing anything more than a doggypaddle in public pools just in case I splash anyone :(
