7.3 seconds is the 0-62mph - the 0-60mph is 6.8 seconds. The level 2 & 3 have the same screen. The level 1 was the one with a smaller screen. I drive a 13mile round trip every day with frequent diversions for roadworks. One charge (Sunday night) goes all week and costs £4 on Octopus Go. (15p per Kwh). As you say, the car is super-efficient. I have a bit of a lead foot, but I have averaged 4.1m/Kw. I love my MINI SE and I'd never go back to an ICE car. Because of the fast charging, long trips are a breeze. 1h30m drive with 15-20 min charge, then off again. I did Maidstone to Leeds the second week I had it. Easiest drive ever.

In the old pre face lift version both the level 1 and 2 had the smaller screen, only the level 3 had the larger screen. Now in the facelift 2021 onwards model you get the same screen size throughout the range, though the level 1 isnt currently available due to shortages.

Much as I miss my old John Cooper Works tyre shredder, the mini EV oozes style, perhaps at the expense of substance. A very funky and stylish tiny town car. I’d opt for the E- Berlingo at about the same money as it has a little more range and I could get a tall fridge freezer or washing machine in the boot.

"So, my overall verdict of the MINI is... Yeh, I bloody love it...!" If only ALL car reviewers were so definite with their verdicts 🤣 You seemed genuinely impressed, too, with the available boot space, at least once the seats were down - there's another, really lovely You Tuber called Roger Warner (Warner's Wheeling About) who is currently 'auditing' various rapid charge points for wheelchair accessibility (it's absolutely woeful how badly designed and, therefore, inaccessible most outlets are for those with limited mobility...!) and he gets all his wheelchair frames and power packs in to his MINI, again, seats down. So, yes, it most certainly can accommodate a generous amount of stuff. Great review, Richard and keep 'em coming... 👍

@VinegarAndSaltedFries
@VinegarAndSaltedFries Жыл бұрын
@@mgnoodle2589 well if it’s any help for your internal knowledge here is a little background I live in Upstate NY (closer to Canada than NYC) and just had my first Winter with my 2023 Mini Cooper SE. I own my own home so installed a Level 2 GrizzlE charger on a Pole Outside. I work about 33 miles from my home. It would go there and back just fine with a solid amount of battery life left. The heat pump in the car really helps with the range loss in the winter. I park outside so honestly think due to my own experience the battery being small is mostly overblown. Love it so far tbh. Now you do need to charge every day but also own a Mach E and that I also pretty much need to charge everyday of Winter so yeah the range isn’t the best but I think you’ll know if this car is for you or not. Sure it might not be for everyone but honestly I think Electric cars aren’t for everyone yet. Also I’ve never fast charged either vehicle because that is the worst for battery health. I’ll keep you updated every year if you wish on how it’s going.

The fact it’s a compromise as it uses the F56 and more or less shoved an electric drivetrain and batteries in. Next generation is a designed from the ground up Electric using the Chinese platform. As I’ve said on here we have two MINI’s on the drive factory ordered to our spec. We have had five and love them. I have reluctantly not drive one yet but was invited to its first preview. From what I’ve heard it rives like a MINI and that’s the main thing. The range doesn’t cut it one of our cars is just over a year and a half old and does Glasgow to London and sitting on 38k miles already. The other more special MINI goes on road trips touring the highlands etc and will be even down to just outside London this year too but is on low miles. Yes I know price of materials has went though the roof but they are bring these in at Cooper S or even MINI Works prices and that’s too rich for a 100-140 mile EV. BMW are four or five years behind the curve and it shows. We will see with the next gen out next year what they have done.If the level 3 with all the toys was £24k then maybe but not over £30k for me. When you buy a works it’s for performance and all that comes with the package suspension, exhaust not. 7.3 is not far off the Petrol Cooper 7.9 seconds. The scary thing about the next gen is the rear end looks absolutely hideous going by the spy shots to me being a mini fan and that would stop me. The Retro Renault 5 EV looks brilliant and can’t wait to see what it’s like.

The range isn't abysmal if you use the car in the context it's designed to be used in.... It's basically a commuting car, and one for shorter trips. The average UK car journey is less than 9 miles. You're looking at the Mini as a highway cruiser... It was never intended to be one.
@jamesj97370
@jamesj97370 2 жыл бұрын
@@Brian-om2hh I understand its intended use which is why I referenced the price. £30k for a car that does 100 miles. If the car was £18k - £20k then that would be fine. Name an ICE equivalent that you'd be willing to pay that much for that only had a 15 litre fuel tank. A car is a convenient form of personal transport, you shouldn't have to have a short range car and a long range car, it should be the same vehicle.
@Ben.Royals
@Ben.Royals 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesj97370 wouldn't have been a Mini with a bigger battery as it would have been heavier and lost the feel and point. In his last video he got 5 miles per kWh from it which is 144.5 miles. A lot of people will pa that for the cars efficiency and therefore running costs.

@Ben.Royals 2 жыл бұрын
Well the car came out in 2019 and they wouldnt be able to fit a 42kwh battery in the space they had and also would have made the car slow and loose that mini feel. The next models are said to be coming with a 40 kWh battery Cooper E model 186 miles range and a 50 kWh Cooper SE model 250 miles range, built from the ground up this time. Also dont forget the smaller battery means less weight and better efficiency, you get more per kWh out of the Mini than you do Corsa E or e208.

@@Ben.Royals Do you have a proof link where they say they can't fit a bigger battery? I3 33kwh and 42kwh batteries are identical in size and only 20Kg difference in weight. There is really no reason why they can't fit 42kwh in there.
@Ben.Royals
@Ben.Royals 2 жыл бұрын
@@paulf3353 the car is built on the same line and from the same body as the petrol version and the batteries are where the drive shaft and petrol tank would be. You also have to consider the cost implications of adding a larger battery making the car more expensive. The i3 didn’t and still doesn’t have a direct comparison car within the BMW line up. The Mini Cooper SE does, the Cooper S petrol and when this car was launched with the government grants still in place the car was advertised as Cooper S power with cheaper running costs and a cheaper stating price than a similarly specked Cooper S auto.
