I vote for a name change to this channel. I don't believe the word "broke" inspires many people to explore your channel. What about, "Living The Free Life" or "The Free Lifestyle" or something else without "broke" in the name? As far as the Vanlife name, whatever you come up with, maybe tie it into this channel's name so they will both be easy to find, like for example "Broke n Free Vanlife." On another note, I'm in the same boat as you with my equipment. My 2007 laptop is due for an upgrade, which is partly why I haven't made any videos in about 2 months, lol. Glad to see things are going good for you.

Yo, you speak truth about Broke being an uninspiring name, you have some good ideas there, and keeping the names similar between channels will help too so that people don’t get confused. Great feedback as always LA

quick question how much did u make when you was in AK?
@RTLivingFree
@RTLivingFree 4 жыл бұрын
Woof, that is a great question lol which time do you mean? I made one amount when i worked in the cannery, a different amount when I worked my first summer on a commercial fishing vessel, and a different amount my second year on a fishing vessel. They all came out DRAMATICALLY different.

@@stakkteam7684 Thanks for clarifying, here's how I'd break down what to expect. Minimum wage in AK is around $10/hour. Lets say you're making $11/hour to start. You'll have many days where you work 16 hour days, others you'll work but won't make overtime. Most canneries do overtime by the week so if you break 40hours that week, every hour past that you get time and a half I think on average, I'd work 4 or 5 days/week pulling 16hour shifts. every now and then we would have no work, but when the fish were coming I worked every day. Lets make some math for a lowball estimate of what to guess. If you work 4days/week doing 16 hour shifts, 2days/week you only get 1 8 hour shift, and 1day/week you get no fish, then your hours for that week would be (4days*16hours)+(2days*8hour)+(1day*0hours). (4*16)+(2*8)+(1*0)=80 hours/week 40 hours youre paid regular, 40 more you're paid time and a half, so (40hours*$11)+(40hours*[11+5.5]) (40*11)+(40*16.5)=$1,100/week On average, you can make $157/day. AGAIN, This all depends on the fish and where you are. This is not the case everywhere in Alaska, and it is not guaranteed every season. It can be a lot of money, but you're gonna work hard to get it if you're there. Hope this helped!
