I don't get the problem with Roger tbh... He doesn't look intimidating in the OG execution scene either. He's sickly and dying of a disease and his life is about to end. Let's wait till we see a proper flash back of him in his prime like with white beard vs roger. He's gotta be a beast there or I'll be disappointed.

Roger is probably the strongest casting I've seen so far. He's never been meant to look intimidating, that's not the point of his character, it's to setup an era of new pirates.

When roger was introduced in the first chapter/episode, he looked rugged, rough, had messy hair, and was portrayed has an evil, almost crazy, pirate. I think they've portrayed that well in the live action.

You gotta compare this Shanks to Chapter 1 Shanks though. I think most people expect Marineford Shanks but early Shanks doesn't even seem that intimidating either in the Anime/Manga. It's all about the vibe that he's giving off. Let's see if he nails the speech he gives to Higuma, the Sea King scene and the scene in which Mihawk arrives and Shanks asks him if he came for a fight. If he does, then he's definitely a worthy Shanks

My excitement for the adaptation has shot up immensely after this trailer. The night and day difference between this and the teaser is insane! Whoever made that teaser must have been as drunk as Kaido 💀. Yea, there's some nitpicks here and there, but overall it looks great. What a time to be a One piece fan 💯

The fact that they're using outfits for the straw hats that were only featured in color spreads is good attention to detail.

The reason roger looks like that is because at this point he is sick and dying thats why he looks all skinny and sweaty

Alita Battle Angel was really the first live action that showed it was possible to make the transition. It's worth a watch at some point

I like how theyre changing slight details that ended up being the very foundation of the series. In this series. Garp was there for Rogers execution. It seemed like people were actively trying to stop roger from getting killed but failed. Luffy names the crew the Strawhat Pirates. Luffy himself went from being a optimistic idiot to an optimistic smart ass(btw this was a good change bc it gives luffys personality more depth.) But its rogers last words that hit the hardest. "Wealth. Fame. Power. I had it all. Free yourselves. Take to the seas. Find my Treasure!" This implies that Roger wants others to find his treasure. Passing his will on to the next generation. But in the manga, a single person asked him where his treasure was and he answered in a way that says "im going to die anyways, might as well."

My autistic brother absolutely LOVES One Piece and the fact the live action comes out on his birthday is mad dope. Can't wait!!

Don’t forget, Roger was also sick at the end. I’m sure there will be a flashback depending on how the show does and he will be much different.

I'm actually pretty excited for it now, at first I was really skeptical because of the teaser but I do think this will be a good adaptation.

To be fair, Roger looked like a regular, stereotypical pirate up until Marineford. It was during the Garp flashback, where Roger started looking kinda intimidating, and even then, he didn't start looking like Gigachad until the Oden flashback. And as pointed out, he was already dying before his execution. I like the live-action actor. And if, by some miracle, One Piece DOES get extended for multiple seasons, I'm sure that that actor will work out a little or get recast. But as of now, I do like him.

Don’t worry Rob, I heard they will get black representation done right this time by opening with some text saying “KING IS BLACK BTW, JUST A HEADS UP, HE WON’T BE IN THIS BUT JUST SO YOU KNOW OK?”… and even then he’d probably still complain

Actually, I'm not into anime live action but the cgi, action and production looks pretty good in the trailer already.

I agree that Shanks looks weird :D Buuuut, I think he looks more accurate than a lot of people remember. Go back to the first chapters of the manga, Shanks does look more like a "normal" dad/uncle. He only looks really badass and cool later in the story. Same with Roger. He looked more like a normal quintessential pirate in the beginning. Only in the Oden flashbacks did he start to look cool and badass. And that goes for Nami too. One of you said they made her less sexy. And that's true in the first arcs. She is less sexy. Compared to post timeskip you could call her boyish.

They specifically screwed up with Roger. You all claim that he looks like this because of his illness. What are you talking about? Even in the first episodes of the anime, where he goes to his own execution with a proud smile, being ill, he was shown to us as a huge, two-meter, pumped-up and pretentious man inspiring fear. His illness has nothing to do with it.

I was a big doubter before this trailer. Now I'm actually hype for it.
