This is really useful. Everyone tests with something like a 3080ti which exaggerates the difference between a lower end CPU and higher end ones, whereas most people are going to go for a 3060/Ti class, where the difference is usually much smaller...

This is the exact video I was looking for since I have a r5 3600. Managed to get a 3060 close to msrp and imo it was such a good upgrade considering the sold listings of my 1070 ftw with box on ebay. Virtually a close to free upgrade with more work once I get the card in and sell my 1070.

Thanks for this! My 3600 usage is 15-20% for the majority of my games with my 1070ti. The 12gb VRAM of the 3060 was enticing, but the 192-bit bus made me weary. Looks like they pair together very well 🤠

I use a 3600 @4.2GHz + 3070 combo (1440p) and I'm yet to see a bottleneck on the CPU, but I definetly expected better results on Cyberpunk

Thank you for this informative video! I spent days debating between the 4500 and the 3600, turns out the 4500 is old architecture and would really have bottlenecks with the 3060. Decided to permanently move from console to PC , and as I suspected, the 3600 and the 3060 are a match made in heaven for the above average performance budget machine!

Just snagged a 3060 and currently running a Ryzen 5 5600G with 1440 164z monitor I'm glad I'm finding all of these videos telling me I can chill for a minute before upgrading my CPU.

This could have been an amazing combo if things were like they were before

This is honestly a relief, I was worried there was going to be massive bottleneck but it’s an incredible upgrade from a GTX 1650!

A friend of Mine has the 3600 with an RTX 3060Ti and still never had a CPU bottleneck. the 3060 is a beast and as expected, handles the much less powerful 3060 easily.

Really good comparison and test, it confirms that I should look at the 3600 when I get around to upgrade my Cpu. I'm currently running a 4690k Wanted a Gigabyte 3060 gaming oc, but it's price right now is 1/8th above the release price of the ti version. So I'm just crossing my fingers for the 5600xt I ordered I January to arrive next month.

I have a rtx 3080 paired with my ryzen 5 3600 and right now its not worth it to upgrade to an ryzen 7 5800x. Im playing at 1440p.

Thanks for posting this video over a year ago. I got on the waiting list to buy a 3060 in 12/2020. My number was pulled and I bought my 3060 in 12/2021. I still haven’t installed it yet. I do have an R5 3600 and as I get ready to swap out my GTX 1650 it’s good to learn about why prospects my setup will yield.

Thanks bro! I was going to buy a prebuilt from a trusted company, the options were the rtx 3060 and a r5 3600, i quickly checked google to see if it would run great, and i saw your vids, The main games i was going to play were, Fortnite, CODW, CSGO, and probably game developement!

My guess: I saw the 3090 being paired with a 3600, and it didn’t get bottlenecked. So I think this budget pairing is definitely worth it and won’t bottleneck or experience any issues. Will edit when I finish the video. Edit: I was right

The guy at micro center where I went yesterday helped me out wit my first build (ultra gaming pc) and it was $1.8k+ and i got their last gpu and it was a 3060. and the guys are assembling it for me. i picked up a 32gb flash drive from there aswell, and the guy gave me a ips 144hertz moniter with 1ms delay, 1080p

What is so surprising about lower cpu usage in higher resolution in CP2077? The CPU has to work less, because it is helping to deliver less frames per second.... Less frames, less work for the cpu.. seems quite straight forward for me.

well it seems like I made a good decision. I'm mainly interested in upgrading for Warzone. I get 110FPS running low settings using an rx580. Running 140FPS on ultra settings will be a game changer, no pun intended.

3060, and when the ryzen 5 5600 comes out would be a good combo, better value with 3060ti.

I checked this morning online for my local microcenter and they were priced at $499...still a lot better than scalpers but...thats still kinda too high for me personally.

I just built a system rocking these, although mine is a TUF Variant. Also with it is 3600MHz T Force RAM, a WD SN550 NVMe and it handles 1440p just fine for me. Granted, I'm coming from PS5 sooooooo, take from that what you will

The only reason this video helped is because i own both CPU's, and a 3060, i had the 3600 first, used it for a good few years before upgrading to the 5800x and learning that watercooling is almost sometimes a need, and an AIO barely keeps up with it when its under load, like Cities Skylines 2.

I literally just bought this setup for my wife. MSI GAMING X 3060 (dual fan) and a Ryzen 5 3600. Upgrading her from my old setup which is a 4770k and an RX 590. She will be pleased to see this video.

I have a 2600x and a 2060. CPU never gets above 47%, averages about 25%. The GPU never seems to get above 50%. No matter what I play.

I'm running a 3600x with a rtx 3070 at 1440p and the problem i have sometimes is not enough Vram. Nvidia should have give us more than 8gb.

There is a lot of talk about bottlenecks in gaming systems, but it is not easy to just generalize this comparing a CPU and GPU. I think it is misunderstood often as one component holding the other back, but this Is not the same as it creating an actual issue when gaming, which I think is the more correct usage of the term. It depends on the game, the resolution and the settings you use. Generally you want your GPU to be the bottleneck and run as close as possible to a 100%. You want to avoid the same thing with the CPU to avoid stutters and frame dips. If you have an older or lower tier CPU it might hold your new fast GPU back from the full potential of FPS, but that does not mean that you won't be able to have smooth gaming without the CPU being a bottleneck. Higher resolution will also depend less on the CPU.

I have a 3060 and a 5 3600 and only average around 110fps compared to your 140, with low quality settings. Are you running the stock cooler on this combo and what are the temps?

As a result, can we easily use the ryzen 5 3600 processor with the rtx 3060 video card in 1080p?
