AMD on their feature set (Especially RT performance) needs to improve, they have the performance per price class down. I think if they have better RT hardware and FSR continues to improve Radeon will be able to sweep Nvidia. One thing to note too: the increased vram in AMD cards will make them better long-term... I'm hitting vram limits in some games with my 3070 already...

Here in my country, Iran, 6700 xt has a lower price than 3060 Ti, so I think I know what decision to make, thanks to Daniels's great video.

i decided for 6700xt, came yesterday and im so happy with my decision!!, huge power in horizon zero dawn 120fps+ in ultra and i think that is future proof with 12 gb vram, need to improve in RT but right now is not important for me, and the other side 60C of temperature with the card at 99 percent is very good for me, greetings from colombia!!

Good review. I noticed that the 3060ti used 10 or more watts more power in most games, even when trailing the 6700xt. But I also noticed that 7:09 the 6700xt is losing in Guardians but its power draw is lower than it should be for the 6700xt and the 3060ti is using like 25 more watts. It had taken a while for me to decide which of these cards I would buy. Went with the 6700xt because of the extra VRAM.

you are the one who best includes my (and others) thoughts and interests as a consumer of these products. I usually skip other gpu comparison videos to just see the fps numbers, but not yours.

While I like the 3060's ability to max out ray tracing settings at 1080p, I feel the price doesn't warrant me going out of budget. I would love a 6500XT priced card with 3060 ray traced performance. From that metric it looks like I'll be saving for a RTX 5050 or used 4050 in the year 2026.

Decided on the RX 6700 XT (MSI Gaming X) to go with my Ryzen 7 5800X. Love the setup for 1440p or lower. Running games such as MSFS2020, RDR2, Elden Ring, etc, and love the performance in all. And it was a better price deal than the RTX 3060 Ti, plus actually being in stock. Additionally the RX 6700 XT still remains a good deal and there seems to actually be more in stock even now.

I can’t speak for 4K but on 1440p I’ve never noticed enough difference from RT to actually make that a selling point of a card

It really confuses me, how often you say "it's not a massive lead" or "they are almost the same", when the difference is 5-10%. 10% is not equal, but quite a jump honestly, even when it's just comparing 54fps to 60fps

These videos are godsends. I swear other benchmarking channels just show simulations of game performance. Like I’ll see one of a 3070 vs 6700, with the 6700 slightly below the 3070, then I’ll go to hardware unboxed and the margins are vastly different.

Thanks for the Video! I listened to your advice and decided to buy the cheaper Model, which was the 6700 XT. 3060ti was 20 Euros more. And to be honest: There are not many games, which are interesting to me and support Raytracing. In my case it s basically Cyberpunk and The Witcher 3 remake. But they look great without RT and I prefer higher FPS anyway. At least at the moment. I feel like DLSS and FSR are very relevant, but Raytracing is not wearth the performance trade off yet.

Great video! Watched a lot of them to make a decision on getting a 6700 XT. Would you make a video about the importance of VRAM for future-proofing? I went with the 6700 XT because I want to play at 1080p for as long as possible, so I chose VRAM over RTX support (I'm expecting FSR 2.0 will be widely available in the coming years so I'm not counting DLSS as an exclusive feature).

As someone who has had consoles for most of his life, any game that is above 30fps is a win. My first pc had a 3060ti and it was amazing.

I've got the 6700xt, farcry 6 at max 1440p with RT as 10gb of utilisation. Although it probably uses more because it has it, every game tested the 6700xt uses more vram than the TI

For similar performance and price. Always buy nGreedia. Im not a fan of this scam company. But the drivers are still better. I got the 6700xt because pricing was much better. But the amount of driver related issues i have, is mindbogling. Coming straight from a gtx 970 with zero software issues over the course of its entire lifespan and multiple hardware and OS'es. While on AMDs side, the 6700xt is powerful and delivers very good performance and is worth every penny when it works as it should... But Adrenaline kills all your gains. Every single available Adrenaline overlay/setting caused massive massive massive micro stuttering. If i didn't figure out it was the AMD trash software i would have ripped that card apart! Also AMDs ingame settings like FSR no matter the version. It just doesn't work. Its $hit. Games look like rendered in 800x600 res. Again, i tried everything in the book to fix it. Only switching to ngreedia will fix this issue! Also one version of AMDs Adrenochrome detected my 4K 120hz screen as below 1080p screen. Again, rendering all the coresponding Adrenaline settings useless/unavailable... forget this software its trash, not worth the hassle! AMD has a very long and stony way to walk, barefoot.

I think if you were to use an AMD card and wanna use RT. I would use RSR (raises Resolution when you drop the games Resolutions.) Then enable RT. You will get better frames and a better than 1080p look using a 4k display anyway. Done it with 1440p as well as 1800p. It will upscale it to 4k or whatever your display is. Just turn on RT afterwards. If SAM works well with that game, use that too

I wonder how the 3060ti will age with it’s 8GB of VRam, compared to the 6700xt’s 12GB. This won’t matter if people upgrade their GPU every generation (or every other generation), but for people like me who keep GPU’s for 6-8 years; I reckon that VRam limitation will become apparent later in the GPU’s life. I already run into Vram limits with my 8GB GTX 1080 though, so how the 3060ti will age is a question I don’t have an answer to.

We've come along way since the Atari 2600

I bought a RX 6700 XT a few weeks ago. It is a good example that you have to have a case and cooling to go along with it. I put the card in my mid-tower case. I started to run games and the GPU was hitting 80c, but junction temps were toward 110c. I am an engineer, an worked on electronic products for 18 years. A lot of components were rated at 104c for highest temp before problems. So I looked at the case. I added one fan. Put all fans directly to the power supply molex plugs. The mainboard fan connectors were to slow for cooling the case. So I have 3 fans air intake, and two fans air exhaust (including power supply). There are grills in the case the intake air can also escape by pressure differential. I set the Graphics card fan profile to on early at 60c to get ahead of GPU, and Junction temps early. The card fans hit a steady 2600 - 2900 rpm and keep the junction temperature down between 80c - 90c. The GPU runs about 65c, and the CPU 70 - 75 c. I happy with this level, and I don't smell heat, like to hot anywhere in the case. At 1440p this card performs well, about 120 - 200 fps depending on the Battlefield games I am playing.

Interesting that RX 6700XT running Cyberpunk 2077 with 1080p RT Reflections is smoother than RTX 3060 Ti counterpart despite lower framerate.

Are you OK? Or, ...am I OK? The Forza side by side comparison at 4K in the first few minutes was a clear example of one card being noticeably smoother ( the 6700 XT, ) despite it only beating the average FPS by about 5-7% and the frame time pacing being about 10% - 25% better... than the 3060 Ti. Maybe it looks different for you at home vs me watching it on Yo0uTube, but I would MUCH rather have the 6700 XT for gaming at 4K in Forza 5, than the 3060 Ti.

Next gen AMD is working on RT performance and maybe hardware acelerated FSR. Nvidia will have faster RT obviously but thre gap 'may' narrow depending on AMD's hybrid approach. More support is coming on AMD acceleration in apps and Zen 4 will have AV1 encoding so I expect to see more support with that too.

Sapphire 6700XT Pulse is down to $389. 3060 Tis are still around $450. AMD is winning in price to performance, right now. The prices are still too high for both. Midrange cards should never have gotten this out of hand.

i think in general the 6700xt is above the 3060ti but below the 3070. i'd say it's interchangeable with either (as in you won't notice much difference regardless of your pick)

My next videocard must be meet such criteria: 1. fuses on power rails 2. dont use Hynix 2gb memory chips. And on statistic, it will be 6700XT/6750XT from few manufacturers. As owner as UWQHD monitor I must to look for some like 6800XT, but it a bit costly for just games.

Here in England, you can find the 3060ti FE for £380 alot of the time on nvidias site which includes postage whereasthe 6700 xt goes for around £410 and above and the reference model is not sold over here anymore, or at least i cant find it

I've been working on a build and all I need is a GPU. 3060 Ti and 6700 XT are both $399. It's such a hard decision. I've never had an AMD card before so I trust Nvidia more but 6700 XT does seems to be a bit better.

For VR gamers Radeon cards are a bless. We dont care about RT but a shit ton of rasterization power and VRAM.

Personally, I wouldn't buy either right now, unless you are completely desperate. They'll be replaced within 5-8 months, with the more powerful next gen versions. If you do buy now, then within a year you'll be kicking yourself, for not holding out just a little longer.

I love that you lead with the conclusion. Thank you. That also allows me to say: Nvidia has less perceived "weirdness" and people trust it more. If I have learned one thing in the past two years through price-watching and availability... it's that there are going to always be stocks of Nvidia higher-end cards at inflated prices and no stock of the AMD higher end at moderately inflated prices. However, high-end is like 5-10% of total sales at most. The *vast* majority of card sales are going to be low to mid-range cards. The 3060 is still inflated. Most people are going to be looking at it or the 3060 ti as they have either had a 1060 or a 2060 and are looking to upgrade without having to reinstall new drivers or worry about changing brands or w/e that might entail. This is the reason why I believe the 3060 ti is still inflated compared to 6700xt. Most people don't even consider AMD.

The 6700 xt and 3060 ti are evenly matched. Depends on the game and whether RT is important. Personally I would go with whichever is cheaper.

I had to make this decision last week when I upgraded. I went 3060 ti due to dlss being more readily available. I got it on FB marketplace for $400. The amd software is a little buggy compared to Nvidia. Game capture was flawless on my old RTX 2060 and crashed on my rx 6600xt.

It's the 2nd half of 2022 and 99.999999% o f PC games ever made don't use RT, of the tiny % of games that do use it some don't use it well . I don't think the vast majority of people even care about it and still many don't even understand it. Some will say more and more games are going to use it, well maybe ? but the pickup rate by developers for this tech has been very very slow, i think maybe something even better or more popular will supplant it and within 5 years it will be totally forgotten. The early adopter penalty for getting a card that even has this ability was too high and Nvidia never explained it well enough to get people to care about it and didn't work well enough with game developers to have enough games running it and well enough when it released.

is there a difference in how you captured the RDR 2 gameplay or something? cuz the 3060TI footage is noticably choppy despite the performance metrics showing pretty much identical frame rates

I would not buy a 8GB graphics card anymore in 2022. RTX 3080 would be the only Nvidia graphics card I would consider. Ray tracing performance is still lackluster but that isn't much of an issue since rarely games release with ray tracing at launch and not being a after thought. I would go with the RX 6700 XT since it has 12GB.

What do you recommend? 6700xt or 3060Ti if same price? Although I'm seeing that the temp for 3060ti is low on most games compared to 6700xt.

Where I live a RTX 3600TI is about U$689 while RX 6700 XT is U$825 so at least for me RTX 3600TI is the way to go.

In my experience AMD have always had the better image quality ( if you look at the tree at 2:57 the tree looks better on the AMD 6700 XT ) but the buggiest cards. That is the only reason I primarily use Nvidia because of the stability of their cards.

What you've seen at 4K max vs optimised seems fairly common (anecdotally). I'd be curious if the RDNA 2 gpu really lose out that much in 4K when one doesn't push Ultra/Max settings at that resolution. Or did someone already do a graphic settings scaling between both arch?

I observed your 3060 ti is very power limited (to 200w) wchich affects at core speed below 1900Mhz, sometimes close to 1800Mhz. A lot of 3060ti's has limit above 220-230W and core speed clock close to 2ghz. This may affect at +3-5% speed.

I wish that someone would benchmark those GPU's with many CPU's. Often CPU usage by driver can make a lot difference with cheaper ones.

Bought 6700( nt xt ) few days back the performance for some games were good but in few games like destiny 2 wchi i play alot had some nasty frame drops tryed few other driver versions too ..then return in 2 days and bought rtx3060 and it works flawless no big frame drops and dont have to switch deiver versions to play other games like the 6700 ..m not sayng its bad but i will stick with 3060 bcoz i dont want keep switchng drivers

Rtx 3060 ti is more powerful on 4k resolution. It beats even rx 6750 xt but loses on lower resolutions like 1080p.

"Buy which ever one is cheaper" is the most left out piece of advice from the past 2 years when it comes to GPU's and CPU's. Both are so close it really barely matters.

Also 6700xt never crosses 200W usage, staying around 180W while 3060Ti was constantly around 200 Watts.

There's a SWFT 210 rx 6600 xt in my country at 400€, would that be worth it? Rtx 3060ti is 520€, the normal one is 420€, and the normal 6600 is 350€.

Considering that you can use FSR with any nVidia graphics card, the whole question of DLSS vs FSR is kind of pointless. Just get an nVidia for Raytracing goodness and if a game doesn't support DLSS use FSR as a fallback option. FSR is open source which will make most indie games use that instead of chasing nVidia around for assistance. For me, the bigger issue is VRAM difference, the only reason why I am considering 6700XT over any 8GB nVidia card in the market.

One thing a lot of people are missing: the gap from 1080>1440>2160 is closing in NVIDIAS favor. But the NVIDIA power draw is also going up by a lot. I think that is very important, at least for my wallet. But maybe thats only my european point of view. 😒

Id definitely go for the 6700XT dont see any point going for 3060ti unless you play at 1080p and really care about raytracing thats it

the takeaway here is: if you want better Cyberpunk non-Ray Tracing framerate, get the AMD card. if you want better FPS with Ray Tracing Reflections on, get the similarly priced Nvidia card. getting the nvidia card, and then turning RT off to get more frames in 2077, is another way of telling yourself to throw your entire setup in the trash, as you could have just gotten the AMD card and would have had more fps for ALL of your other games if you had wanted to roll this way.
