I remember reading that they were gonna do an overarching story for that and they planned to have Protoman betray Wily and leave on his own, seeing the error of his ways and helping Mega Man every once in a while. Meanwhile, Dr. Wily makes Bass as his replacement out of spite and desperation, plus Treble.

6:27 I would have loved to see more fight scenes with Wily's Cop Bot Army. Especially with the Robot Master Weapons Mega Man aquiered. Such as the Metal Blades and other show version of Robot Master Weapons.
