I think the “why are your plugs so crap” isn’t just America it’s lots of countries. It’s because UK has the safest plugs in the world and we have one of the highest voltages.

If you haven't already. I suggest watching a video about UK plugs. As well we in the UK have back bacon. Which has a lot less fat that the pork belly bacon that you have.

The bacon you showed we call ‘streaky bacon’ and is the cheapest. The bacon we use most we call ‘middle’ and the streaky is just the tail of it. If we separate the streaky from the middle we have ‘back bacon’ remaining. These are all rashers along with collar and longback as well as gammon but these last can be joints as well.

Hi, I’m a Brit living in USA now. When k came here about 9 years ago I was shocked that chip and pin was not used like it had been in U.K. for a long time before that. Same with contactless - usa did not use that as quickly as U.K. I was shocked as we expect usa to be ahead of U.K. but actually they are not. Checks (cheques) are hardly used in the U.K. these days. I think the whole banking system here in usa is behind the times compared with U.K.

I have watched similar videos of Brit’s asking questions to Americans. And to be honest, from an American brit perspective, I find many of these questions extremely condescending and borderline rude. You can ask questions without using the word ‘disgusting’, or ‘why are you like that?’.

'Erb (herb) is the way the French pronounce it. Some here say 'erb (pretentious twats/twots) - from 1066 Norman French was the language of the "posh" folks (William the Bastard, later William the Conqueror).

When we have parties we drink out of the can/bottle usually. Not many people go to parties and drink spirits and therefore need a glass, so mostly just wine drinkers need something, and they aren't going to want a plastic cup.

Looking at the plug behind you which sticks out from the wall you might like to try a video on our ( type G) plugs JT. Most of these questions do cross our minds now and again , the zee one seeming particularly strange . You ought to show us what biscuits & gravy is .

great video jt, as a english man i find all these questions legit lol, i have an extension for the accent question.. why do americans think we all speak like Oliver twist or the royal family? you can drive 30 mins in any direction and hear a differnt accent, we absolutely pronounce the h in herbs, it's basic english, cheese and rice.. bacon is great but uk bacon is just better, tried both and american bacon is terrible 🤪

Chip and pin was introduced into the UK in 2004. It became mandatory in 2006 to replace the magnetic strip.

JT you said the video was old so that’s why you weren’t using chip and pin.. we’ve moved on in the UK we use contactless payments now. We just hold near the contactless point or tap the card, no pin, no signature

Re: ‘erb instead of herb…I learned recently that Americans are more right on skipping the H due to how that word entered English (from the French if I recall and the French don’t say the H…if I recalled correctly). A lot of the American pronunciation that I used to think Americans get “wrong”, I have subsequently learned that it’s usually us Brits who have changed the pronunciation recently where as Americans are nearer the origins of the words.

We have back bacon but I get medallions which is pure meat, much less cooking time as otherwise i won't eat the fat unless 100% of it is dark brown crispy cause I hate the chewy texture if not 😅 also watch the plugs video please and your face when the last guy gave an accurate visual description of what your biscuits and gravy looks like 😂😂😂 thanks for another funny video ❤

America was very late adopting “Chip and Pin” and then also slow adopting contactless - I remember learning how far behind America is with payment card security when I had to do a course on it around 2017. But as for checks (cheques) or even the ol’ put your card in a machine to create a paper copy and then sign it, I can’t remember the last time I did that here - maybe around 2005? Literally almost before you were born was the last time I paid anything with a cheque. Oh, as for payment card security - I have a question - I’ll put it under your comment asking for them :)

We have various sorts of bacon from the slice size you have (we would probably call that streaky, ie fatty) and then you have larger slices like you would have seen in the other video. The main difference taste wise is again sweetness, ours are no where near as sweet but are really good if done well.

The chip and pin question is: why do you sign for payments on your card rather than just enter your PIN number? Again, this is an old video so maybe you do now, but it used to be that Americans signed their name when paying with a credit card. I expect you just tap the card to the reader and pay contactless these days like we do in Europe.

The herb thing is real..."erb" here in the UK is generally not something you stick in a meal you are cooking, although it will alter your perception of the rest of the day if you do so.

You said that the roads in kentucky are a car and a half wide. Where i live in wales, the roads near my house are hardly a cars width, as in that the windmirrors are hitting the vegetation on both sides of the road.

Spin your set up around so that you aren't splitting the background levels. It will confuse the camera focus less. That little cove in the corner in the background is perfect for a computer table and if there was a blank wall behind that then it would enable you to change background cheaply and easily. Just throw a little acoustic padding around to damp the bass if you move the set up to the corner. It's really not much of a difference but would make things easier and it's a lot easier to change things at the beginning of setting up a new place than towards the end. Red Solo Cups are not biodegradable and difficult to recycle as they are made from polystyrene. In fact it takes around an estimated 450 years for a cup to decompose. Most end up in landfill.

We have scones too! We have cookies we don’t call them biscuits! Our biscuits aren’t sweet, they are fluffy inside, our gravy isn’t just one flavor, we have lots of different gravy’s! Chicken, roast, red eyed, sausage, turkey, onion, mushrooms and etc.. actually all good❤ don’t knock it until you had it!

the 'chip and pin' thing was a bit of a dated question now, but at the time the vast majority of Americans when using a credit card specifically (debit cards were chip and pin) you still had the old archaic carbon paper signature system where you signed the receipt on carbon paper, the checkout operators would check it against the signature on the card, and keep a copy of the receipt for their records and the customer got the top copy. as time has passed America has caught up to the rest of the world in terms of payment options, but at the time this video was made and slightly afterwards, America was VERY far behind the rest of the developed world in terms of technological payment systems and cyber security making digital payments an every day thing here in the UK/EU at the time.

We have disposable cups in the UK but they come in all sorts of colours (mostly white) not just red.

The Herb thing, I think a lot of dialects in the UK have the 'H-Drop', where I live its very common (inc. myself), so its definitely not just a US thing!

The bacon that Americans eat is what we call "streaky bacon" it's the kind of pauper food we ate during rationing because of the blitz back in WW2. Basically the worst cut you can get and still call it bacon. And then Americans absolutely incinerate it, so have to put maple syrup on it - which is weird enough on its own.

In Scotland, subway bread is classified as cake due to the amount of sugar in it.

In Lancashire we say "erbs" not "herbs" and we eat streaky bacon too! So not sure what all the gripings about! I guess it depends on what part of Britain you live in😁

a biscuit is a scone in England, gravy is a sky sauce that is the remains of the frying fat that you mix with a little flour, water and spices to make it a little thicker. but still a bit transparent. everything else is sauce. There are lots of things that have different names. 😉

Bacon. We have two kinds. Hour normal bacon we call streaky and its not as popular due to not having much meat on it. Our most comman is back bacon, comes as smoked or unsmoked, as well as other flavours like maple etc. Back bacon comes normal or thick. So tasty.

I think the issue we have with the whole biscuits and gravy thing is that.. that isn't what either of the things involved are that isn't a biscuit a biscuit is a sweet thing you dip in your tea and gravy... Britian was a very early adopter of Chip and PIN. My gripe when I did a lot of travelling in the US (this was a while ago) was at Pay at the Pump Gas Stations, the machine wanting your ZIP code as a security measure when paying by card. Which was kinda stupid when you've got a UK issued card and our Post Codes (the eqivlilent of Zip codes) have letters and numbers in, so you couldn't pay at the pump. You'd have thought that the numpties who designed the machine would have recogniosed that, I mean why ask for a Zip Code to verfify when there's no Zip Code to verfiy against?!? I hope that they're now Chip and PIN and not using that same old stupid system.

the ize thing really piisses me off as an English teacher. Microsoft have default US dictionary and now British kids think ize is correct when UK English we use ise !!!

Regarding parties and cups. Yeah for the most part adults will use proper glass tumblers and kids (at the age where they might still be running around with cups in their hands) will use washable plastic beakers. If you are having a big gathering, and you know glasses will be limited, then you might go and buy some throw away plastic cups, but yeah we mostly use "real" glasses for drinks. Everywhere but america pronounces the H.. actually i think some spanish speaking countries also dont, but thats because its part of the language. which i think is why americans dont say it too. You take quite a bit of insperation from spinish stuff.

This is because of lost pronunciation in the early colony days of America. They didn't have any educated people to correct it and it became it's own version of English which is a good thing it gives it's own identity

I think its because you guys were a late taker to chip and PIN, when we visited in 2016 we had to sign for everything, however in 2022 most plces were chip and PIN so it will be because of the age of the video

Pretty sure the chip and pin guy means when an American is paying for food for example, the server would take the card from the customer and swipe it in the back instead of infront of the customer with a handheld pin machine.

Albeit the video was from eight years ago I think some of us Brits forget about the huge variety of countries that people have emigrated from to influence American culture and cuisine. Back bacon rashers are huge and not streaky. You can buy streaky if you want here but it is more fatty.

In the US we say Herb like erb because we hold to tradition we learned to say it like it was said in the 1700s and just stuck to it defying trends...you can't go changing words on a whim like its no big deal...😊 Just like we still call soccer by its original name and not football. Hell we decided to use both and splintered rugby football (shorting it to just football) and association football (shorting it to soccer) its because we defy trends. Just because Oxford University decided soccer should be called football doesn't mean everyone will.

Gravy is defined as a sauce made from cooked meat juices....as far as I am aware Sausage Gravy is made from pork sausage a meat!
