After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel kzfaq.infoUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

Yesterday I picked up my Ruger Precision Rimfire Rifle. Today I took it to the range. On paper at 25 yards tighten it up until it was blowing out the bulls eye moved to the 50 yard and zero it there. Blew the bulls eye out there did the same thing at 100 yards . Nothing but awesome fun shooting and much easier on your pocket when it comes to ammo. A BSA Sweet 22 scope CCI Standard 22LR . If you do your part. Believe me Ruger has done their part. Once again Ruger has knocked it out the park.... 😊👍❤️💯🇺🇸

I watched this video back in January 2020 and headed down to my local shop to see if they had one. I already had an RPR in .308 with a Burris XTR II 5-25x50 and was looking for something to use as a less expensive trainer. They had one on the rack for $370. It came home with me that day. I ordered a Burris Fullfield E1 in 4.5-14x42, but the parallax on that scope only comes in to 50 yards, making a KYL (rimfire .25"-2") virtually impossible to hit at 25 yards. I wound up putting a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 on it and couldn't be happier. Not only is this rifle an absolute blast to shoot, it has also improved my shooting on the .308 as well. I have been able to consistently shoot single-hole 5-shot groups at 25-30 yards, and run the KYL target. Thanks for a great review!

I've had couple 10/22's, and it's amazing how accurate they are out of the box. Then...your imagination is the limit for mods. I picked up an old MK1 pistol about a month ago. It is sooo much fun to shoot, and unbelievably accurate for a 5 1/2" barrel. I think I'm gonna step up and get a rifle now, and this is definitely a good option. Right now my target rifle is center-fire, 6mm ARC and it's more like a 300 to 500 yard shooter. I want to get a rim-fire rifle and shoot 100-200 yards with it. I definitely like Ruger patterning this rifle to AR-15 design. will be checking that out. Thanks Plinkster !! Another excellent video!

Picked one up a few weeks ago in OD green and have shot it quite a bit. First, it's an absolute joy to shoot, and the OD green is beautiful! I adjusted the trigger down to around 2 lbs and it's very crisp! Have around 300-400 rds through it so far with zero issues. Where this rifle really shines is its adjustability. I just got back from a weekend out in the wilderness with kids from 8 yrs old and adults. The stock adjustability made it possible for kids to cheek up and feel comfortable shooting using the scope. That alone was worth every cent. We were also able to free hand hit 2" steel targets out to 30 yards all day long. The RPR has easily become one of my favorite guns to shot, bar none! Throw some Aguila Colibri down range and make your buds think it's internally suppressed! Lol

Thanks Plinkster ! I have been shooting my ruger american rimfire for the past year and a half and have fallen in love with bolt guns and throwing little pebbles at long range. My rimfire will hold a 3 1/2 to 4 inch group at a 100 yards. But now we have stepped into the world of match grade ammo ! And ammo seek says the gold match ammo is 9 cents a round. Now we have crossed the line on reloading. I can load 9 mm for 8 cents a round with making my projectiles. After shooting 1200 plus round a month I am ready to move up in cal and distance. So with all that said were do you stop with 22's and were do you move on. The cost of shooting is a game changer. And I am not a collector I am a shooter.

Hey Plinkster, I've been following your videos for a few years now and have watched this video a few times over the years to see if a Ruger Precision Rimfire was what I really wanted. This past week I finally pulled the trigger and got one and am super glad I did. I put a Vector Sentinel X 10-40x50 scope on it and some Vortex rings. With CCI Standard Velocity Target and CCI Blazer it was putting them in very tight clover leaf pattern. When I loaded up some Lapua Center X, it was almost like one hole at 50; no joke. When I was done playing around getting it set up, I was shooting ground squirrels between 75 and 143 yards with American Eagle high velocity red box. I actually ranged them with a range finder. Nothing has been added to this rifle other than an optic and no suppressor; just straight out of the box. It is a keeper for sure.

In bench rest matches such as the Super Shoot and most other precision rifle matches group size is measured "center to center". This is done using calipers. First you measure from the extreme outside edges of the group then subtracting 1 bullet diameter. Example: outer edge to outer edge measures .750. Now subtract .223 (for .22lr)(.224 for ctr fire) Your group size is .527. Using a 30 cal. in this example would be: .750 - .308 resulting in a center to center group size of .442.

This is the review I've been waiting for. My concern is that Ruger made a new receiver, stock and foreguard, then slapped on it the same old target barrel that's on the Ruger 10/22 Target rifle. At 50 yards, the accuracy looks good, but since Ruger seems to think this is worth shooting at 200 yards (the 30moa rail) I'd like to see what kind of long range accuracy it's really capable of.

I would love to see you do a review with this rifle and different “hunting” rounds or rounds that would be used for varmints such as velocitors or CCI supersonic segmenting bullets or other brands of ammo that is hyper velocity. I know you’re sponsored by CCI but I would love to see that! Thanks and great video. I just got my Ruger Precision Rimfire in 22 lr but it’s main purpose is a pest control rifle not competition.
@yokoshemp3 жыл бұрын
Probably need a barrel designed for the hyper velocity rounds. I was excited by the Stinger rounds when they came out but found they were not inparticular useful. My favorite hunting round is the standard velocity. Subsonic has less crack and better accuracy. I hunt mostly rabbits for my supper and it makes them very dead.
@anthonyconnole34803 жыл бұрын
yokoshemp since I’ve posted this comment I have switched almost primarily to subsonic rounds and have been really pleased with this choice. The accuracy is amazing. Yes, a little more hold over but I just got to know my gun and it’s deadly out to 100 yards consistently on gophers.

22plinkster: Thank you for the entertaining and informative video. I was on the fence about which small caliber rifle to buy next and, after watching this, I went ahead and purchased one myself. Quick question: what bench rest are you using there? I’ve always just gone prone or once in a while in a modified supported position using vehicles or other cover, but I’ve been thinking about buying a portable bench rest and am leaning toward the Caldwell lite version. Any insight about your preference would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless!

Bought mine at my LGS a week ago for $390.00. I got it literally before they even had a chance to put a price tag on it. Running a SWFA fixed 12x. My only complaint is bipod/sling attachment. It has a QD on the stock but nothing on the fore end. I bought a sling rail with my scope but it's only cost Ruger a few extra bucks to include one with the rifle. This rifle was built to run a bipod.

Would like to see this rifle compared to 10/22 Target Model or the new Ruger Custom Shop Competition 10/22. Curious to see if the bolt is that much more accurate then auto at 50 and 100 yds. With the same target or match grade Ammo.
@MrHdlopez6 жыл бұрын
This rifle was designed as a trainer for the centerfire Ruger Precision Rifle and as a rifle package option for shooters that want to join the precision rimfire matches that are becoming very popular as of late, hence why it has all the bells and whistles needed for that style of competition. For the street price of $399-$450 is an outstanding value and price point for an American made product. The "standard" accuracy for a good rimfire rifle is 1/2" @ 50 yards, so this rifle can do what any other CZ can do with quality ammunition. The choice between a CZ or the Ruger Precision Rimfire would come down to what purpose the rifle would serve for a specific shooter. Personally I am a bolt action Savage rimfire shooter and have tried plenty of rimfire rifles including CZs and 10/22's and I would consider the Ruger Precision and the CZ rifles depending on the application.
@TheAsheybabe896 жыл бұрын
MrHdlopez but this rifle has a hot rod stock and trigger and still is only shooting competitive while using match ammo that any bone stock CZ455 I've ever shot, or even the CZ 512 auto loader can do. I've seen Savages shoot better as well, not to mention Anschutz or the fabled Bsa, or older Winchester and Remington match rifles. The RPR shoots better than average no doubt, but it ain't a match rifle. This rifle is more so for the tacticool crowd that wants every bolt gun to be in a chassis system. It is basically an American Rimfire in a better stock with a few minor tweaks. Even the Ruger precision centerfire isn't anything special in the accuracy department. In a value of accuracy per dollar consideration, count me solidly in the CZ and Savage rimfire fan camp.
@MrHdlopez6 жыл бұрын
Ashley Weeks are you familiar with what a precision rimfire match entails?
@TheAsheybabe896 жыл бұрын
MrHdlopez of the local variety it is typically a few guys shooting Anschutz, occasionally a Cz or Savage laying waste to everyone else. I'm not sure which targets you are referring to, but we do a variety here. Ranging from a normal target, to the common target of a sheet of dots, to the shoot til you miss at progressively smaller targets. But maybe you are talking about something different? Our matches are usually called rimfire benchrest and not "precision" specifically. In either regard, this rifle will be regularly outclassed (assuming equal shooters) by most every Anschutz, most CZs, and a good portion of Savages. God help whoever buys this Ruger if they shoot against something like a Cooper rifle.

Ashley Weeks yes they are different matches. I am familiar with the benchrest matches you are talking about. We can talk a bit about it tomorrow after I return home.

Hey 22Plinkster! I enjoyed your video. Savage came out with a new rifle last year and I was hoping you would review it for us. It is called the savage b17 in .17hmr. Thanks so much!

I’d love this in 17 WSM, only because I’m falling in love with the 17 WSM, even though I’ve never fired it.

Have not seen a 7th ID patch in a long while. LIGHTFIGHTER! I was with C Company 1-123rd AVN, "Air Attack" 88-90. Loved Ft. Ord, definitely my best state side assignment

If you sight your gun in 1" high you can shoot groups without blowing out your bullseye and losing your aiming point.

For long range shooting with a .22lr I suggest looking at Aguila Super Extra Plated ammo. Very consistent, reliable, Ely primed ammo, and the bullet has the highest ballistic coefficient of any .22 boxed ammo I have seen, with a G1 .197 coefficient. Beyond 300 yards it is moving faster than a Velocitor - even though the Velocitor starts out with an extra 200 fps muzzle velocity. The Aguila has a maximum range of 2760 yards - which is 1 mile plus 1000 yards.

Thats definitely the best 22lr for the price
