This video is part 1 of 2 covering the specs and additions to the Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 300 Blackout. In part 2 we will take a look at the performance and reliability of the Ruger American Ranch Rifle.
Ruger:

While i like the Gen2, i got into a used Gen1 non-stanag mag american in 556 for under four bills (including scope). With Federal (non-bulk) 55gr it shoots sub-half-MOA. Have taken it out to 600yds and giggled while doing it. Doesn't have all of features, but for the money, it was stupid accurate and fun. Ruger knocks it out of the park with these things.

I've got a early gen 1 in 7.62x39 and it shoots well, I've shot it to 500 yards a few times and worked well. before the end of the year I got a can and sub are super quiet out of it but only ran it to 100 yards on subs though

@@wisemencompany I saw a bunch of really great reviews around the web on the gen1 ruger American ranch in 300 blackout and it was out of stock everywhere. When I finally was able to pick one up I was unable to get past how gritty and flimsy the bolt action felt. I absolutely hated the trigger safety as well. I wanted to like it really, I just didn’t… sold fast on the used market

Funny you should post this now. I've been really considering a modernized take on a scout rifle for something light and handy to have in the truck, as well as being legal in shitty states when I travel. I may be doing a real similar build in the near future.

It's tempting to get a gen 2 but I really like my gen 1 300blk already. If my gun was stock, I'd probably sell it and upgrade but I already replaced the original stock with a Magpul one. Gun runs very smooth after a lot of rounds through it. I'm only tempted because the Magpul stock is very heavy. Nomad L doesn't help either, though.

300 blackout is my deer rifle of choice along with 7.62×39 i live where the woods are dense i rarely ever get a shot over 100 yards. And the fmjs are inexpensive to shoot and stock up on.

3:23 that’s not a feature of the rifle. It’s just a by product of the magpul follower. The back of the follower is pretty vertical so it catches the bolt and doesn’t allow it to close. Lancer mag followers are more of a slope and allow the bolt to push it down while cycling and not lock the bolt back. It’s not a good or bad thing in my opinion, but I run only lancer mags in my ruger American and magpul mags in my ar

Great overview! Looking forward to part 2. Question? I have a GEN 1's in 300 and 5.56. Looking for a way to attach a light without using the barrel or having to buy a new stock (magpul hunter). Any ideas?

I just filed down a spare m-lok rail and drilled the stock out it’s just a light now a laser is a little different

Hi Ben. You said in the beginning that the stock was much improved over the Gen 1. Does that mean that they fixed the stock flexing problems the original Ruger American had? Have you tried preloading the bipod and checking if the barrel stays free floating? Thanks.

Anything will flex with enough force. It does not flex nearly as bad as gen 1.

Rifle looks good after the camo job. I think the last round hold open is due to the mag, not the rifle itself. I think Ruger has the right idea using ar and aics pattern mags, rather than proprietary mags.

The only thing I don't like about the last round hold open is that you can't single feed individual rounds into the chamber.

Explain to me why I'd want a bolt action over an ar-15 10.5" 300 BO with 416R "match" barrel. I find it unlikely a bolt action sub 300 yards and the fire rate of a semi auto is superior. Dont get me wrong I intend to get one of their americans in 300 win mag, but for close quarters I'd say a custom AR-15 is better or the Ruger SFAR (.308)

@3:18 You put a gun on "safe", not "safety". The "safety" is a mechanical device used on a firearm to prevent the trigger from being pulled making the firearm "safe" or ready to "fire" depending on how it's engaged.

THOUGHTS. I think the conversation needs to be started on civilian LMG’s. Fightlight upper with binary trigger lower? Heavy barrel ar15 with drum mags and binary trigger lower. Ideas and application and training would be great to start diving into. Civilian sheepdog groups are more important now than ever considering the invasion. No one is wrong and conversations are endless.

The 300blk is only good in one configuration: 12" with a supressor. The supers are a great and offer .30-30 ballistics in a 110gr variet from 0-300y and 300blk subs are well really nice when you dont have ear pro. So yeah hard to get behind and uber niche.
