I almost always bring a couple .22's when I go to the range and burn at least 50 rounds before the centerfire stuff comes out. 500 rounds of .22lr can keep my boys busy for hours. I've taken more animals with .22LR than any other caliber. Centerfires have their place. For most, that place is next to a .22.

I have been waiting for this video since they came out!! I’ve owned my wrangler since May 3rd. I’m over 5000 rounds into it with no issues whatsoever. Very pleased with this firearm!

I own the bronze on black and silver. As a first and beginning gun owner I enjoy taking it to the range. It truly is a fun gun to take to the range with for the price. His video was the reason for me owning one in the first place 👍

Hey, thanks for doing this video! I've been using an old .22 single action as a snake gun when working on my property. Only thing is that it belonged to my grandfather and I've been thinking of retiring it. You brought this firearm to my attention at just the right time.

Considering the bulk on those, you could use them indefinitely. Replace spring and firing pin eventually.

I don't know if Heritage is very reliable but workmanship doesn't impress me but they have models that are appealing on price and style. Find a 3" bbl or .22mag in anything but a cheap gun. They are like unicorns. They supposedly exist but find a Ruger, S & W, or Colt? No one has one.

Bought mine about 7 years ago on sale with a magnum cylinder for about $125 brand new. Never had an issue with about a thousand rounds through it, awesome gun for the money.

I have a Blackhawk 357 and 45 Colt. Very well made machines but they cost you 800 bucks each but I think worth it.

If I'm not mistaking but there's several big name 1911's that are made with a cast frame. It's the heat treatment that makes them weak or strong...

There are good casts and bad casts. People who make absolute statements such as "forged parts are always better," are most likely completely unaware of modern metallurgy and base their opinion in what may have been true a hundred years ago. For example, the top Anvil manufacturers in the US today all cast their anvils. When you can cast an anvil entirely from 4140 or H13, why would you consider wrought iron?

My grand kids about to turn 4 and 6 have the heritage rough riders in my safe for when the get a bit older. We also go over safety rules even now with their nerf guns. I may add a plair of these to start their collection. 6 year old also will inherit my first gun a 9422 lever rifle. We need this tradition passed on to future generations.

My first handgun purchase was a 6 1/5” single six. Great shooter and inexpensive to shoot. I don’t think someone can call themselves an enthusiast of firearms if they don’t have at least one 22lr. Good way to practice hold,safety,sight alignment,etc...

Jeff Burgess Back in the mid 80’s my two brothers and I got Ruger Super Single Six’s for Christmas. Now all these years later I plan on buying my four kids their own Ruger Wrangler’s. They are 12, 10, 8, and 5. I’ll let them pick out their color!

I took my Wrangler to the range with some bulk ammo, and found a few slightly over size rounds that would not chamber in the Wrangler. They did for and function in my Rossi. The tighter tolerances must be part of why my Wrangler is so very accurate. Sweet shootin' iron!

Single action revolvers are the best firearms to teach young kids how to use a gun. We bought one yesterday and I took my son out to the range with it. He did pretty well with it.

I'm so appreciative of Ruger that they started making these. I got a Rough Rider but I just didn't trust it not to malfunction. I grew up squirrel hunting with my dads trusty 10-22 and I love rugers work. I finally got a wrangler and it's such a satisfying plinking gun because it's literally the best cowboy gun if you wanna go out back for some target practice without worrying about your bank account.

Been intrigued since the articles started coming out. Though I have traded in a few guns to apply towards something different, I always kept my Heritage Arms single action with the interchangeable .22 and .22 WMR cylinders. Friends I take to the range always grin wide while the Cowboy spirit overtakes them. This newcomer grabs my attention. The Ruger's cylinder spinning free with just the gate open is a nice safety feature (plus the transfer bar design). If I went to a fortune teller today, I'm pretty sure the Gypsy would see a bronze Cerakote model in my collection soon.

The free-wheeling pawl and transfer bar safety are great. Usually to get a free-spinning cylinder it is an aftermarket addition. The BFR has that as standard also. Ruger is getting onboard.

Thank you for the great review of this gun. I was debating between the Heritage Rough Rider, this, and an EAA Bounty Hunter as a general plinker and to start teaching my 13y/o for the Youth Cowboy Action Competitions at my gun club (She watched me take 1st place a few weeks ago with my Uberti .357) and I like the safety of loading/unloading with the hammer forward for her sake. I just got back from my local gun shop and bought one of these in black because that's what my daughter wanted.

I agree about not using self loading firearms when introducing youngsters to shooting. My first two guns were single shots. There is too much mystery, and chances for mistakes, when you use magazines and the kids can't actually see the rounds.

I kinda like the rubber or polymer grip panels on the Wrangler, but I read somewhere that the SingleSix grip panels will also fit the Wrangler. So it CAN be 'customized'!

As soon as I heard of these, I ordered one. When I go shooting, I like to spend all day doing it. The big stuff gets expensive. After a couple of boxes of .357 it's time to get out the .22s. Nice inexpensive plinker. No sleeves in the barrel or the cylinder.

There is no left or right handed wrangler there the same only difference is the finish it gives the buyer a better option what they want

Just picked up the silver cerakote for my sons 16th birthday today. Our 17yo already has a .22 SAA. What a fun little gun. We have a couple super single sixes as well. Rimfire is cheap and the guns shoot straight. This Wrangler is well made and fun shooter. Shooting guns as a family keeps your kids off the streets. I think this is the top SAA rimfire on the market. Just bought my wrangler in black. My father owns a heritage RR single so I decided to buy this one. The barrel is bulkier as Hickok explained but it is weird not having to mess with the hammer to load and unload but just really use it for plunking and fishing.

the High Standard revolver you are talking about is the Double Nine, I have my fathers, it's nickle plated with the faux ivory grips. Started a lot of new shooters with that gun.

I own the Heritage Arms Rough Rider single action 22 and this is much, much nicer. Just better quality overall. Better finish, better tolerances, better fit and finish and not to mention way more accurate. The Wrangler sells at Turners for around $175 and is well worth every dime. Awesome gun that is a competitor killer. Great video Hickock, thank you!

Thank you for demonstrating the Ruger Wrangler. I like the colors and the overall looks. Also I totally trust Ruger to sell you a good firearm. My GF is now thinking about one just for plinking. Also You are so right about teach kids the safe and correct way to handle firearms and most importantly when. I believe if kids were actually taught about firearms there would be less gun violence from all the positive reinforcement. But That's just me. When I see John shoot I can see you taught him well about firearms, It shows.

we grew up with a old model 510 targetmaster Remington .and it was a very good rifle even though it was only a iron sighted single shot 22.I never had a problem getting my limit of Squirrels with it.I think it made3 me a better hunter and shot knowing I had 1 shot .I took alot of rabbits and ground hogs with that old gun.my first semi auto was a old Ruger 10/22 that a old coon hunting Buddy gave me he was a VA. state Trooper and he gave my that gun many years ago after he had taken it from some people poaching deer ,he told me they was spotlighting deer and when he went to get them he said they wrapped the gun up in a coat and stuffed it in a culvert.and claimed it wasn't theirs .he told me he thought that I needed it. and I still Squirrel hunt with that little carbine.I took about 40 squirrels with it in 1 season .thats alot of Squirrel gravy and biscuits.loland I have popped a many of ground hog from a tractor seat wwith a old Ruger Super Single Six while I waseither plowing a corn field or raking a hay field.a 22 is a handy firearm to have .those little revolvers would make perfect trap line guns.

My Dad has a convertible Single six (22 lr cyl. And 22 mag cyl.) his mom bought him back in the late 60’s. He still has the box and receipt!! She paid $76 for it!! It’s still beautiful and UNTOUCHED by Ruger.

I thought the bronze woukdnt sell as well so down the road I thought they be worth more to a collector but seems they are the hardest to get , I think due to sales maybe? Idk but all.3 are gorgeous guns in my oppinion, I like all 3 but the bronze is random so I will.get it

I own a Ruger SR9C 9mm..I am from Arizona so I absolutely love Rugers because they are made in my home state...And I will be purchasing this Ruger 22 Wrangler in black...This gun is amazing..its beautiful and it will be perfect for my camping trips with my wife and 2 daughters.

I just purchased my first new Colt SAA with a 7.5 inch Barrel! I've had others but this one is my first new actual Colt Brand SAA chambered in .45LC, of coarse! LOL! Very cool video!

When I was a little guy back in the 60’s my father bought a ruger 22 . Was a nice came with a 22 cylinder and a 22 Magnum cylinder and real nice wooden grips .

single 6 convertible-mag mine says made in the 200th year of American Liberty on the barrel (supper single 6) paid $125 new in 1976 with mag cylinder :-) $199 each for the Wranglers........makes me wish I had 3 hands lol

I bought a sw mp 15 sport2 .22 lr, a .22 lr cricket, a browning buck smart, and now this gun. She is 7 she loves it good gun to train on super safe.

I think the Heritage Rough Riders look a lot better than the Wrangler(I'm biased because I have a color case hardened RR), but I'm glad Ruger wised up and added this to their rimfire line. The more options for the gun buyer, the better.

You made a good choice. You can buy a 22 mag cylinder for it and many grip options. It's a good gun. It gets loose and needs to its screws tightened up all over the gun from time to time though. Best thing to do is to tighten it up out of the box or take all screws out and use blue thread lock and screw them back in

Now I have 2. No complaints about them whatsoever. Nice solid construction. The Cerakote has held up well. Hubby like the original grips. I swap mine out for something pearly. I have just ordered the Super Wrangler which has a magnum cylinder and a steel cylinder frame.

I picked up a black one for 199.99 🤘 it’s a fun pistol for sure and very solid. Very happy with mine and my dad got one for Father’s Day and he loves it as well.
