The Ruike LD series is showing a lot of potential both stock and for modding imo.

I have both an LD-51 and an M-61. Both are great tools. Pliers and scissors are tight, no problems there. The serrated curved blade is a little out of place, but you can always find uses for it. I swapped out the corkscrew for a Phillips head screwdriver on both models. The brews I drink either don’t need a corkscrew, or are in so tight that a pocket knife corkscrew won’t suffice.

@@maxlvledc I'm curious to see if the LD31-B is too chunky for EDC. I think I'll have to order one to find out. In the meantime, I just picked up an S22 to try on my key-ring. It's been "just right" so far.

The one with the "D" has the locking blade and thumb stud. That's an L51. I have the LD-51 and like it, but it's kind of thick and heavy. If you're going to carry a knife that's over 9 oz. you might as well just carry a multitool. If I could do my purchase over again I'd get the LD42 which does not have the pliers or Phillips. You can use the tip of the belt cutter for a Phillips, if you're careful, and reset your grip on the screw after each turn. I thought I might get a thinner model, as well, either the LD21 which has just the base layers, or the LD32 which has just the base layers and the saw. That one would be a worthy competitor of the Vic Trekker.

I have the LD-51 with the one-handed, locking blade. Quite nice indeed. Lots of features I like. My only complaints are that the pliers are a little loose, and that the scissors are a little a=uncomfortable to use, because they did not make a thumb-pad like the Surge has.

I have the LD51 locking & absolutely love it. It is well designed, well engineered & has excellent 12c27 blade steel. It is much heavier & bulkier than a SAK with an equivalent amount of tools, but that means it can handle heavier duties. Although I really like this & consider it an excellent pocket knife, I find it a bit too heavy & bulky for an EDC & prefer the discrete "streamlined" pocket-ability of a lighter SAK, as I have never needed an EDC for heavy duty tasks in my suburban environment.

It's a great knife. In the end the same as the Sanrenmu WA-Series or the Böker TechTool/ CityTool-Series. It's the same blade shape and exactly the same tools. They'll probably all fall off the same factory treadmill (as you mentioned). 12C27, very good workmanship and easy to modify... there is nothing wrong with these knives. Best regards Joe

I got LK42-B no thumb stud (our police have issues with one hand opening),on LK51 you get extra pliers and Philips screwdriver 🪛 ,pliers,,,l don’t fish 🎣,screwdriver you might need it…These multi tool are good quality but also heavy and I got it to compare it with SAK Huntsman which was cheaper or same price (can’t remember)…I also bought cheapest multi tool from Amazon $5 bucks for Coleman imitation of SAK… 😂

Great review. I wouldn't have gone for that fat knife, but that's me. Also, Victorinox does _not_ use the same steel as Ruike or Böker.
@Horde334
@Horde334 Жыл бұрын
Victorinox actually went to the manufacturers of sandvik steel to get the original composition cause the similarities that their steel has compared to sandvik is close to that of a softer 12c27n so technically they are the same steels when it comes down to the properties.

@@maxlvledc There's a couple of things I keep forgetting to mention to you. I got some luminous tape from AliExpress. It was $1/meter, 10mm wide and retains its glow for a few hours. I stick it to household things like torches and the TV remote. It also works really well stuck to the spine/sides of my SAK's & Wave so I can easily find them in a dark bedroom or on the forest floor while camping. The other item I got from AliExpress is a $3 Swiss Card copy. Since I've bought half a dozen SAK's over the last 40yrs, I sometimes need to replace scale tools and scissor springs. The cost of the genuine toothpick alone is the same as this card copy, which has all the scale tools plus pretty good scissors & etc. I've also used tiny magnets to add tweezers, toothpick and pen to my Wave in various spots under the saw, blade & file. I hope you find this information as useful as I've always found your videos. Cheers from South Aussie mate ! 👍

@@edwardfletcher7790 I know you can't put certain front/back tools on certain layers, but other than that they have a "build your own" knife in Victorinox stores, where they allow you to put together your own knife, so they can easily put something together that would allow people to combine certain layers of tools, and they could pay someone to build the custom tool, then slap on an extra price that would make up for the extra production cost they have to put into your knife. Creating a web tool for the customer to put their layers together would be a fairly simple task.

@@iamfuckingyourwaifuandther2743 I think it's because they don't want us to buy just one knife for life, or one for urban EDC and one for field use. As it is they know we will buy a lot more than one or two looking for the sweet spot and rotate them, or favour a couple and leave the rest in a drawer. But yeah it would be great and doable like you say.

Victorinox said that in addition to manufacturing complexity, the main reason they don't do a build your own tool line is due to the fact that they have so many variants of existing models that most people will find close to their ideal tool combination.

The super thin tweezers on a Victorinox are what I like best. 90% of my use is pulling really small wood slivers. They slide in under and let me direct pull easily. For big stuff, sure not as good, but for what I need they are perfect.

Thank you for your review, it was very good, but I do not understand the title of your video. You pretty much say everything on it is super sharp, well made, etc, but because of the title, I was expecting to hear somebody disappointed with their purchase. You received the wrong model, but that has nothing to do with its quality. I have two of these. The first one I ordered was not the locking one. It was actually my fault, so I ordered the locking model, but decided to keep the nom-locking one because it was such a nice multitool. It reminds me of a Victorinox Workchamp on steroids! I think these tools are just as good as most brands out there that are about the same price point.

What!? I respectfully disagree. Quality is on par with victorinox or the Boker tech series(both Boker and Ruike are made in same factory I've heard?) I love my LD51. I only wish they made a LD61 that had a file, like the M61 that has a file. Mine is locking and I believe the 3.25" blade is superior to victorinox including their choice of steel. Yes it's heavy, perhaps it needs a belt pouch although at least it has a belt clip. Anyways I'm just saying I like it better than my Handyman or Hercules. For the price I love it.
