Yes, it’s possible: a wedding rehearsal can be successful and even fun at the same time!
What does a successful rehearsal look like? It means the couple, their parents, their wedding party - everyone knows how to walk and where to stand during the processional and the ceremony on the big day.
They feel confident and sure of their unique part and their place in the event.
How about fun? Well… practicing a thing can be very unfun, frustrating, and mundane. But at a wedding rehearsal, as long we officiants are directive, patient, and always communicating what’s going to happen and what’s happening now, the ingredients are already baked in for a good time!
After all, the room is full of family and friends who love each other and are primed for a weekend of partying! And the rehearsal is usually the first time all those people are in the room together for the weekend. A great officiant fans those party-flames from the start of the rehearsal.
So how is it possible to achieve both fun and success in a wedding rehearsal? Here are my 5 ways.

Rehearsals are so important! I start the rehearsal by having the Bride place everyone in their spots for where they will be for the ceremony. Parents and children seated. We then block out the ceremony. Practice the recessional. Then we practice the processional followed by the recessional again.

Awesome advice for the rehearsal... very practical! Similar to what you said, we're planning a talk through, walk through, run through concept for our rehearsal dinner. We can't rehearse at our venue the day before, so my thought is to try to make things as similar as possible in other ways. E.g.- playing the songs we'll walk in to during the ceremony so everyone understands what it will sound like. Hopefully that'll help reduce anxiety and keep things on track. Again, great video, and thanks for the help!

Do you do what you talked about before or after the dinner? I’m assuming before the dinner because people will be less responsive after eating and drinking.

Isn’t the rehearsal done by the wedding planner?
@unboringwedding

Nossir - and thanks so much for asking!! No one is more qualified on the planet to run the wedding rehearsal than the officiant or celebrant of THAT ceremony. Do not outsource rehearsing to someone who won't be up there leading the charge... and left holding the bag if something goes awry. When you lead the rehearsal, you inspire confidence and cover details in a way that can never happen if you leave it to the planner. Thanks for the great question!
